Before we blatantly punish players for dcing let’s address why they are dcing
I could see why they are adding a dc penalty system because disconnects are getting worse and worse but let’s ask “ why do they dc “ well here are a few reasons bugs , bad teammates, BM , not having fun, and really dcing because they want to get out of that match. There’s a leave button for a reason, if dcs were really issue then they could remove the leave match icon and instead force players to pull the plug and wait the loading screen and boot up process.

It's my game crashing for me. Sometimes I consult my teammates about a Killer that "dc"d only to find out the match was still going and I was gone.
Edit: Oh and Bloody Party Streamers seem to guarantee a DC. Great work.

Ive been saying remove the leave match button since i started playing this game. That being said, there are people who DC for legitimate reasons like connection or real world emergencies. Those people will not be affected by a DC punishment because they won't be doing it frequently.
Its the people that DC on first down, or because of a map, or killer or whatever. Those people it will affect.

I think the majority of DCs on both sides are from players just not having their way, and I believe they should be punished for quitting.

If you want to pretend that most DCs are not solely because the match just isn't going the way someone wanted it to then go ahead. But these penalties are needed in just about every online multiplayer game and I can think of no game that needed it more than this one.

NO... its a multiplayer game if you dc you screw all the remaining players... feel free to dc but deal with the penalty...

Screw players who DC for illegitimate reasons.
Not having fun because you're being tunneled etc or anything related to how other people play is NOT a reason. Fun is COMPLETELY subjective.
The ONLY things that need to be adjusted for this system are fixing of game bugs that literally force DC's.

If you DC cause you have to close the game than the penality is not a problem, go to sleep and tomorrow you will be fine :)

My only problem is for "DC" caused by the game crashing during the loading screen, those should not be counted, since some ppl can have more than 1 or 2 for game session

They should have fixed the matchmaker first.
Tbh I don't think these DC punishments are very fair to killer, as they won't discourage punishing people with DCs since they are so light and won't have to DC to do that very often, they can just hook suicide to get out of a game other times. They have full control still.
Killers are just stuck in an unpleasant match all game, they can't DC, they can't AFK, they can't forfeit and die on a hook, but when it's a rank 14 going against a full sweat red rank SWF they should be allowed to just afk or let them go, at least until matchmaking/ranking is fixed it's only fair.
Unfortunately most of the community is unsympathetic to other's misery though, so someone is probably going to ree at me for even suggesting that.

the penalty should be on bloodpoints, not in game time, not in a game that I PAID and has a lobby simulator in...

Oh please. It’s FAR worse for survivors.
Killers are in control. They can make the game really unfun for survivors if they want.

And you can't, they claim to punish/ban for that. Supposedly anyways, I have not AFK'd enough to actually test that out. If however, they don't actually ban for a killer AFK ing in a match, then yeah forget what I said entirely, it's fine, I agree. (Other than the killers being in control but but w/e that is a whole other discussion).

The only valid excuses for DC's are when the game is laggy or when the players are hacking, otherwise DC's are the result of entitled attitudes. "omg slugging" get good and loop. Run Unbreakable and No Mither if you must "omg bad teammates" just keep pushing the gens out by yourself. If you get left to die on hook oh well, don't ruin the killers' experience because of how you feel. "omg sandbagging" just quickly react, sandbagging is extremely rare anyway. "omg tunneling" run DS and get good at looping. "omg camping" can't be camped if you can't get caught, learn to loop kid.
Survivor experience is already easy enough as is. If people feel the need to DC as survivor then they're trash at the game. Sure there's times where moments are frustrating but ffs, don't consistently DC. And before anyone tries to say this (because people have actually said this) no, survivor has never been, currently isn't, and never will be 'stressful'.
Same for killers. If you DC because of your feelings, then you should get punished as well. Just play the game.

You didn’t call anything. The killer can make the game far less enjoyable for survivors than the other way around, just pick Ghostface, then tbag until bleedout for example and the survivors have to sit and do nothing for 4 minutes.
They dont ban for afk wraith unless someone submits a report and video evidence.....which nobody does because nobody cares.
Also you get trolled as survivor by other survivors, killers that remember you from previous games and mori spam. As survivor you’re expected to sit and watch while all this trolling goes on.
Killer has the option to do something in every situation. If someone is being toxic you just tunnel the living daylights out of them if you wanted to make them miserable.

I DC for the following reasons
- tunelling
- camping the ruin totem

if you want a punish, Do the penalty on bloodpoints 70% or 80% or even 90% less bloodpoints to the ona that DC for the next "x" games (3, 5, 10, 15, etc)
or better, give more bloodpoints to the 3 other survivors for doing objectives if 1 survivors DCs.
Without the DC penalty i always wait more than 5 mins, even to 10 mins ( i PAID a game not a lobby simulator ) now with the penalty imagine the wait time...
Devs are killing the game for not thinking well the penalty...

You didn't pay for the game, you paid for allowing to play it. And with that payment you also had to agree to terms that allow them to ban you if you don't follow the rules

There are and always will be bugs. I don't find survivors DCing because they hit a bug. They DC because they get hit. Killers DC because survivors outplayed them.

Pick a side. If someone doesn’t want to play in match because they’re frustrated or blatantly not having fun, they have the right to leave. Leaving for any reason is subjective to the person leaving. I would love to see the queue times post DC penalty on Console (Xbox). Talk about a Nuclear Bomb. If I don’t play with friends I get at least 1-2 DC’s a game as killer or survivor.
I played survivor with friends last night, group of 3, played 3 games in an hour. Implement a DC penalty and you affect MM yet again. What happens when you penalize a player for a time-limit for DC’ing? They play another game or don’t want to play that particular game anymore because if they’re not having fun, they get penalized for leaving.
Good luck penalizing players for leaving out of misery. Make your game more enjoyable and people wouldn’t feel the need to DC.

Fun is subjective. But DCing because something is happening in game that you don't like is not a reason to DC. Take the L and move on, don't ruin it for everyone.

When you DC, you technically are “taking the L and moving on.” These posts are literally people whining about someone else’s choice. They DC, so you accept and move on just like you’re telling them to take the L and move on. But this is all subjective because it’s literally opinionated.

why not? if you are a toxic, camping, tunneling killer you are gonna get matched with better players...if your are a scum survivor dat DC you are gonna get matched with better killers (to the point that you cant even play)...
but hey, you're right, that method needs work and a dev team that actually work in the game (not only in ######### skins )
Overwatch was a cancer comunity game and have this sistem...all toxic players were matched togheter and all fair players too... the more toxic you are the more toxic are your parthners. but im dreaming comparing blizzard with a low budget company.

I’m sorry, you’re still not proving a point about it not being subjective. Regardless of what these Devs try to enforce, the concept is still subjective. These developers, I apologize if this offends your shrine, are not God Almighty. They have no say so on what someone feels is a reason to disconnect from a game. Start banning people from an already awful experience and you’ll just hurt your own player-base. I play because I enjoy it, but I leave/get off once I stop enjoying it. You’re not going to force me by “rules” on why I have to reside in a game that can be toxic or dragged out by better players when there are plenty of other games or life activities to participate in.

Overwatch also has a huge player-base in comparison. Last I played, there were also casual lobbies and competitive lobbies (which casual didn’t have a DC penalty).
