Remove "aim dressing"
You can dress it however you wan it's still auto aim. And player should be able to do the aiming, not some ######### AI

100%
call it what you want Aim Dressing, aim bot, aim assist in DBD it needs to be gone

Auto aim implies you missed but we will let you hit anyways because you're cool.
What's happening in this game you hit and the game lines it up to look decent.
How this is still lost on people is astounding to me.

If you miss - you miss. Auto aim doesn't correct that.

Anything that modifies my aim for me and cause a miss (as the Devs have admitted) is closer to auto-aim and should be removed.

Except when you hit something else because it failed and decided you were looking 90 degrees to the right.
People know what it is.

The game doesn't adjust your camera if you miss your swing. The hit box of your weapon must come into contact with the survivors hitbox for the window dressing to occur.
What happens more often than not is the window dressing moves your weapon into another object than the survivor.

My cursor does not have to be on the survivor to hit. There is a cone from my cursor out. If I don't have my cursor on the survivor, it moves me up to the width of the cone. This is not hacker auto-aim (which would make you hit as long as someone is in range) but is basically auto0aim in every appreciable way. I can still "miss" IE: not have my cursor on the survivor and hit.
Semantics aside, the real issue is your second line. It can make me miss, I would rather my actual hits look janky AF(implying the already don't kappa) than miss for no fault of my own.

It's actually the opposite of auto-aim.
Auto-Aim lets you hit things you otherwise would have missed.
Animation Enhancement as they call it makes you miss things you would have otherwise hit. This is to make the animations smoother and not look awful when you get a hit.
It sucks pretty bad though, especially if it happens a lot. Probably wouldn't care if it was gone but one would have to see what it looks like if it was just removed.

Whats wrong with the OPs statement and others is without the Devs dressing up the hit the killer would miss. This is not the case. Instead the hit would appear off but would still occur. Remember the survivor hitbox isn't skin tight, it's pill shape. That's a lot of empty space that could make hits not look like they should of register.

We can see here why when you swing at a survivor, the "Aim Dressing" forces our camera to move towards the survivor and smacking that corner of a Tree, Wall, or Object the survivor just used his half a second to put there. You can also tell by this photo alone, why 360 confuses the coding into losing your hit.
It's a really bad system, remove it.

Agreed.
What was most disappointing was how they seemed surprised by this on stream. It’s not as if people have been complaining about this since last year or anything...
You definitely feel the “aim dressing” pull you towards objects. How could they be so oblivious?

... please speak better.
What are you even trying to say here?
Are you saying that without dressing up the hit the killer would miss? Are you saying other people are saying that? What isn't the case? What do you even think the case is?

We're calling it "An unintentional effect" now lol

Other people. The very next line should of clarified it if you were confused.

The aim dressing frequently causes missed hits on survivors right in front of me where it will yank the camera towards survivor centre mass to make the ‘confirmed hit’ look better but the hit will whiff and the camera ‘bounces’ off.
I think it could be a console specific issue maybe, I’m on PS4.
I mentioned it in the Q and A thread but they picked a badly worded question about ‘auto aim’ which has been explained 100s of times already and avoided the other questions specifically worded like mine.

They just need to do what they said they should do at the end of the video. Determine the hit and give you the hit, then adjust the camera. Where now, the camera is adjusted to make the hit "feel" better, but at times can put an obstacle in the way, causing you to miss a hit you would have had.

It's almost like people are ignoring that they basically came up with a solution during the stream and will probably fix it in a decent amount of time.

To some extent, I understand that. I am trying really hard to not freak out about a nerf to huntress by making healing or maybe even repairing gen hitboxes shrink to crouching position.
I trust that the devs do want to improve their game, but with there current structure, it will take time. As they add more mechanics, things are bound to not work as intended.

Wise words.
Who tf needs an aim assist that can only make you miss... This is literally what Animation Enhancement is...
0 -
It’s not aim assist.
It just scotches your camera forward and rotates it to make the hits CONNECT, especially on killers with shorter weapons, or if the survivor spins and gets hit regardless.
It doesn’t have any effect on gameplay; the devs rule when it comes to hitboxes is “Does that hit one touch the hitbox of survivor?” (in terms of hitboxes) The hitcone (the radius you can get as for survivor) hits the hitBOX of the survivor.
All this does is dress up the animation and make it pretty so it shows that it did in fact connect.

As Mr_K already pointed out, you are misunderstanding how the system works.
You should rewatch the explanation.

I did watch it "aim dressing" is what causes killer to miss his attacks and autoaims the camera

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Couldn't tell you then.

The hit or miss is pre determined before the lunge was even seen, the "auto dressing" is entirely visual.
1 -
The thing you're not understanding is that you miss either way. It's just the dressing makes it look like you could have hit. But if it wasn't there, you would have still missed.
People really REALLY need to listen to the stream and understand what is actually going on.
If you hit, the dressing makes sure it looks like a hit.
If you miss, the dressing might make it look like a hit but it is still a miss.
1 -
If hit is predetermined, it doesn't mean it will connect. It will snap killer's camera on a survivor(even if it's not the one he's aiming at) and if there is an obstacle in a way the attack will miss
0 -
Except it's not. When camera moves killer moves as well. Making physical attacks miss
0 -
You are misunderstand how it works. They explained it quite well in the video already so there is no point in me explaining it again.
2 -
Ah yes, I "actually missed" when the game decided to cut my lunge off immediately (despite holding down M1) in order to hit that tree. Brilliant.
0 -
I don't know, i like it when people dead hard through me and the aim assist spin me around and hit them :)
0 -
Yes . Its the other way around. If you were suppose to hit survivor auto aim will automatically mess with you camera and you will miss your hit.
1 -
I play on playstation and for me its quite obvious something is wrong with aimdressing. You can literally see it if survivors 360 you.
1 -
Yeah, it shouldn't be removed, it should be fixed. Register the hit before you dress it, and we should be all good.
0 -
Honestly it causes more misses then it causes hits.
As it has a tendency to randomly lock on to something else to do not aiming at

I don't mind this thread being necro'd. People should make it their mission to necro it every week until they remove the aim assist from the game.

Who cares, it's more harmful than helpful and needs to go
