Will changing the game files get me banned?
PS, I didnt know which category to put this post in.
i keep on seeing these 4k dbd renders on YT so i wanted to turn my graphics up a bit beyond the Nvidia control panel settings but this requires changing the game files.
its obvious that i wont be able to get 4k graphics but i still want them to look better.
so, will changing the game files for this purpose get me banned? im extremely worried.
thx!

Editing any game files is at your own risk.

Depends on what you are changing. Could you explain what you are changing exactly? Is it the config files?

Heavily depends on what you are changing. Config files and post processing should not be banable, but renders, currencies, progress, or anything that gets sent to the server has a chance of getting you banned. EAC is not too impressive, its both easy to bypass and can ban you for things it shouldnt.

config files.
for example, stuff like:
VSYNC, ambient occlusion, bloom, motion blur. etc.

No one has been banned for it but its still a risk

Yeah I would very much love to play at 144hz instead of 60, but I won't risk it. Hopefully they add that as an option soon.

BHVR won't ban you for it, and EAC has said they only ban if it gives an unfair advantage. So no, you won't get banned. Even if it is at your own risk.

I always play with vsync turned off so that's absolutely safe.
I did change the other stuff a while ago and didn't get banned so those should be safe as well I think.

People have been playing at 144hz for years. I've even known mods to help users change their config and they themselves change their capped FPS.
In fact I recently changed my limit from 144 to 165 and have had no problems for years.
