Will MMR fix matchmaking?
Here is my thoughts: depending on how they do it will either make it better or worse.
The problem now Is that ranking up for killers is harder. It shouldn't be a walk in the park, but it is quite the challenge.
The problem for ranking up as a killer is: you have to play like the survivor rulebook. You can camp, tunnel, slug, mori off 1st hook, ect., but you do not get rewarded for that. In order to pip. You have to have longer chases, get many hooks, cannot camp the hook, have to slow down the gens, and make sure that it is all done before the 5 gens and gate are powered.
Because of this, matchmaking has been the worst it's ever been in. I've seen screenshots of rank 18 killers going against a full rank 1 and 2 team.
So, will MMR work? Depends on how they implement it.
If they implement it into the pip system ( popping gives X MMR, safety gives very little or no mmr, ect.), it will basically be matchmaking with extra steps. This will eventually get worse until the MMR system doesn't work anymore.
I want t ok know what everyone else thinks? What is yu our opinion on MMR and the system now?

In a sense.
We won't know our ranks, we won't know the requirements for ranking, we won't know our opponent's ranks...
In the end we won't actually know if the system is actually in place, actually working, or if it's just another bandaid meant to fix a broken system they don't want to spend resources on actually fixing.
If I tell you that it's fixed, but provide you no way of determining whether it's fixed or not... will you be able to tell if it's fixed or if I just made you think it was?

it wont. Like what space coconut said... we would never know if the MMR system actually did anything, since its hidden. For all we know, they arent actually making an MMR system, they just want us to believe there is one.

It will if you believe it exists.
Easy to say things are working when there is nothing to compare it to.
The reality is they are just going to chuck everyone in a big pile and switch off all requirements such as ping and rank and call it a day.

It will not FIX matchmaking... it will be a tool
It will allow the devs to take steps in creating a system that (hopefully won't suck) has the ability to be adjusted on the fly (rank reset)

It won't fix it. It will just cover it up so that you don't know if it's working or not. You also now won't even know how you're being graded for your MMR since they aren't using the ranking system for that.

As you say, it depends. The truth is none of us know yet whether it will improve matchmaking or not, but that's certainly the plan. I do think that the current system is pretty awful, so at the very least I don't see how the new one could be any worse. But the devs have also acknowledged that there are a lot of flaws in the emblem system, which makes me think they're probably not going to just recycle it and instead will be developing something new.
As for how we'll know if it's working, the purpose of the matchmaking system is to give people balanced matches. If you're playing against people of roughly the same skill level as you, you should be winning about half of the matches you play, and losing the other half. So if you're averaging roughly a 2K as a killer, or a 50% escape rate as a survivor, then you'll know the matchmaking is doing its job.

No because ebil BHVR wiill hide matchmaking because they ebil
now give upvotes.

Unless the new system miracles up a lot more killers, nothing will change as far as survivor Q times are concerned. It doesnt matter if ranks are hidden/shown, if the population as is remains the same. I’m just not sure why folks don’t get this. As to matching against folks that are near your skill level we will have to wait and see (even with rank not shown after a bit players can estimate that)

This whole problem started when they flooded the red rank matchmaking with low rank players that queue with their red rank friends. Revert that and maybe we don't need to just throw everybody in to 1 giant pool like they are planning.

if Hidden = No
Lack of killer is the core problem. I will face only 1-2 red rank killers from 10 games.
So, we should encourage players to play more killers.

I don't think the problem is actually lack of killers but actually a lack of survivors in the mid-low ranks. A huge chunk of the mid-low rank survivors are currently playing at rank 1 by teaming with their high rank friends which leaves the mid-low rank killers with nobody to play against at their skill level. This leaves playing above your skill level the only option to avoid super long queue times.
