So um, The Deathslinger...
Why is he so... unthreatening?
His design looks cool, but he's just... there. Like, his power doesn't even phase me, he's really slow and his perks are ok
Is he the new Freddy? Cause I feel like I used to feel when facing old Freddy.
He feels there, not scary :/

It's because the devs took an entire week of ptb forum feedback and threw it in the trashbin in favor of probably some stats and internal playtesting and assumed off of that he needed no changes, and said... "Let's 'monitor' the situation and see how he does live with zero changes despite mass complaints"

I kinda got the same impression I definitely think part of it is that getting hit by a spear doesn’t have that tension I kinda was hoping for when trying to escape you either know you’re get hit or you know you’ll escape like 95% of the time

I mean. It seems like a gen monitor perk that is effectively outshined by every other gen monitor perks in game. If anything it should of been change and buffed. To like...maybe when you hit a survivor twice any survivor completing the skill checks aura is revealed itself for like 30 seconds.

That sounds a little op but I agree with the sentiment there is really no reason not to just run thrilling surveillance or discordance instead

Idk. I enjoy playing as him. He's not terrible, but sometimes it feels like the harpoon range is too low.
However, I do feel like he's not particularly terrifying. I just wish they added something to his appearance that made him seem less like he's just some guy. Like, Trapper is just a guy, but his mask and weapon are gnarly. The Pig's mask, too, adds just enough to be creepy. Deathslinger is just a guy. With like a broken jaw. And I guess his eyes glow a little bit? Idk.

Good enough for what? His power is harder to hit than Huntress but it's weaker. Just play unpredictably and not in a straight line and he's litetally a weaker Huntress
Frankly, if you can't dodge his gun-harpoon, you don't deserve anything but a gray rank

Think about how long it takes Deathslinger to do anything. He moves at 110% to begin with. Then, in all likelihood, he has to spend time reeling in the survivor to perform a basic attack. Then he has to wipe his weapon. Then he has to reload. Repeat for another down, unless the survivor happens to find a jungle gym or other fairly safe pallet, in which case he's a powerless 110% killer who can't actually down survivors.
He's super disappointing in terms of strength. Every other 110 killer has a reasonable trade off. I can't think of another 110 killer that loses at most safe pallets. His power doesn't justify the slow speed when you factor in all the time you spend reloading and reeling in, coupled with the fact that he still has to M1 to down anyone.. He's just not competitive against good survivors. Why on earth would you take him over Huntress or Plague? Huntress can just down you directly at many pallets with the hatchets. Plague can actually play pallets within reason at 115ms. Deathslinger can shoot, wait for the chain to break, and apply deep wound. Oh boy...

He's too tall, and slow, and with limited range on power. The moment i see him, i'll just run in straight line and he'll never catch up or hit you.

I can literally sees him across the map lol. He possess no treat compared to huntress or any other slow movement speed killer in this case.

Yah the tall thing takes getting used to. I have fired over peoples heads a lot because of where I THINK the center of the screen is when quick shot-ting. I think they designed him for use in his own map, which he does ok as it's fairly open but other maps... are more challenging.

He has limited range and tiny hitbox. So open areas don't favor him like huntress. His smaller terror radius and slower movement speed will certainly not help in these kinds of maps.
From what i have seen so far, smaller maps benefits him more.

I’ve been having an absolute blast with him. His biggest weakness is by far his lack of mobility coupled with being 110, but his power is an awesome chase tool, especially combined with STBFL since his power is kind of designed to coincide with his M1. If you can hit your shots and position Survivors the way you want, you should be able to establish enough pressure to compensate for being so immobile. He’s no Huntress, but 18 meters of range is nothing to sneeze at.
I think he could use some tweaking to make him easier for newer players without totally overbuffing him (aka reducing the missed shot and broken chain stuns), but aside from that the only thing I’d really take a look at is the reload after every shot. Since he’s meant to be an M1-M2 hybrid but also has 110 speed, he needs to have a little more uptime on having a shot ready, and I think a reduced reload time would aid that.
Aside from that, I think he’s good right now. Not top tier, but 100% solid.

Just played my first game with and against him and I have some notes
As a survivor he isn't much intimidating as stated above and it's pretty easy to avoid his spear shot. The only time he hit me was with a petty shot while I was hooked. Other than his power he's nice. Not thrilling but nice. His map is lacking in terror or enjoyment. The bleak orange color is terrible. It should have been either high noon or evening not this dusk crap.
So playing against him I give him 3/5 stars
As killer side I will say this. His lunge is pretty dogshit. Half the time I would aim for a survivor and the camera shifts in a way I wind up hitting a cactus or boulder. His basic attack feels slightly slower than other killers I am used to but maybe that's me. His aim is quick but like stated above the range is mediocre at best. It is fun to hook someone as they are pulling the exit gate lever so that's nice. And again the map plays into this were yes good platforms to shoot up on but too many rails in the way to make it effective other than applying damage and stalling for 5 seconds on a gen
So for playing him I will give 3.5/5 as killer for the chance to spear tbaggers at the exit or hatch.

You can do that to anyone who’s 110% or lower haha but I think he has it worst as his movement speed is not only 110% but his ability takes a lot of skill and only goes out 18m especially with sprint burst

I felt so bad for the one that was in my game I let him kill me. Poor guy could not hit anyone with the gun lmao. Even if he did he still can't do much. But yeah when I face him he is not scary one bit, just feels like a free win.

His potential is much higher than old Freddy. If you get really good at fast sniping he can be a very solid killer. He is still new right now so not a lot of people are going to be that great with him. Survivors shouldn't be too impressed with their skills against him right now since many people are playing him for the first time. They are playing baby deathslingers.

Also none of the perks really seem worth it to me? For either side. Also having dbd turn into an FPS is a joke. If I wanted to play an FPS then I'd go play the many games I have that do just that. Seems like they're trying to compete with those game types because people are straying away from them for new games like tarkov. DBD is a one of a kind game with really no competitors. People are leaving because the game is broken and not being fixed. Pls DLCs just keep getting weaker and weaker.. perks are just reskins of old ones.. Boring.
