Don’t apply the DC penalty for game crashes

The main objective of the DC penalty is to discourage survivors from abusing the DC function which heavily impacts the flow of the game. So with this mechanic in effect you would think that every survivor that consciously uses the option to disconnect would get put on a small cool down period (of growing severity) in order to make this option non appealing. However, the game doesn’t seem to detect the use of the disconnect option but instead detects the loss of connection.

Now it is common knowledge that this game still contains quite a few bugs, some of them are even game breaking. Now if one of these game breaking bugs occurs and the player gets disconnected due to their game malfunctioning the game doesn’t realize that the player didn’t disconnect voluntarily and thus punishes him for disconnecting.

This is in my opinion unreasonable to say the least. The player is doing nothing wrong and the game punishes him for its own failure to perform. And as the initial penalty weren’t enough these timeouts grow in length with every crash. That is ridiculous.

So in order to counter this system blaming players for the games shortcomings I propose that the system doesn’t detect disconnections but instead looks for instances when the option, as presented by the game is taken. This would still catch the players that DC on purpose and also spare those who get disconnected via game crash.

Thank you for reading my opinion.

TLDR: Make the system ban only those who DC on purpose.

They could just turn off there PC/console or pull the power plug, kill there internet purposely, etc, etc... That wouldn't solve anything. The% of ACTUAL crashes is tiny. Most are user generated, or they have a bad network connection/Outdated PC. Bans are here to stay...

Because bhvrs too inept to actually put in the work or have an effective solution like they said they would. Luckily I only see bs like sever disconnections or crashes happen only one or two times every day or two. optimally anything below 1 per week would be great because a crash/dc every day still adds up, but i guess i'll take what i can get for now.

There's no really a way to detect who dc'ed on purpose.

Update from next day. The game just crashed from me DARING to swing at a survivor. I am now sitting on a 15 min ban. I’ll contact support about this. I can’t play killer like this.
