How close do you need to be to a hook to be called a "facecamping b----"?

I was playing wraith, and after hooking somebody, I left the hook to go patrol gens, and about 5 seconds later the player was unhooked, but remained by the hook, (he was on his death hook at this point), so I hooked him, killing him. In the endgame lobby he claimed I was facecamping, even though he made no effort to leave the location he was hooked at.

(I am new to this game, so I don't know if this is just how people act in endgame chat.)

Don't worry this is how people act. You left and he decided to leave himself on a vulnerable position.

If you went through another gens that's not facecamping. I call face camp when the killer is literally kissing me.

    @TheDocIsIn04

The term "facecamping" has changed it's meaning over the course of a few years. Previously, if my information is correct, the term literally meant it's namesake where Killers would stand right where the Survivor is facing to prevent Survivors from unhooking them. From what I could gather, you couldn't unhook someone from an angle back in 2016, so the term "facecamping" was created when Killers would do this to ensure a kill.

Now-a-days, the meaning behind the term "facecamping" has been diluted over the years. Now when you "facecamp" today, it means that the Killer is camping next to your hook within a few meters WITHOUT leaving the area for anything, a far-cry from the original meaning which literally had Killers stand in-front of the hooked Survivor.

Besides all this history... Whats the point?

The point is you're fine, you left the area to go patrol Generators but came back to possibly down the unhooker. It's the Survivors fault for still being there and not attempting to flee. You could argue that you tunneled them, but I feel if they left you wouldn't have bothered chasing them.

Some Killers will be nice and only slug them if this happened, but that's not an obligation on your part, it's a choice. So in my opinion, you didn't facecamp that Survivor since you left the area to do other things.

Often it means "you didnt leave when you spotted my teammates hiding behind this hook"

Standing 64 meters near a hooked is enough to be called a facecamper

That's pretty excessive if that's true (not sure if this is a meme).

In my opinion if someone wants to call you a camper, despite having no evidence to back this up, they'll still do it anyways.

I mean I wouldn’t call them a that word maybe just, respond saying why are you face camping? Cause saying the other word will get you banned or reported, also it is a really offensive and disrespectful thing to say to someone. I wouldn’t say it if I were you.

Face camping is when the killer is in your face and doesn't leave. It used to be a death sentence as it prevented the survivor from unhooking but you can get the save still now.

To clarify this is my opinion on this reply, it's not a fact about what would happen in this scenario.

Harassment is not ok, that's why it's reportable, but saying you'd get banned for that one comment is a stretch... At least in my eyes anyways. I don't run the Support Team so I wouldn't know how serious a report on that word alone would be, but if the harassment continued than that's a different story.

A rude comment is one thing, but if they continuously harassed him afterwards than that's entirely different.

    Also please note...

I don't condone any harassment in-game or outside of the game itself, i'm not siding with the players comment towards the OP either, it's just my opinion on your reply and that's all. What WOULD actually happen could be entirely different from what I said above, so please keep that in-mind.

No no no I had meant you’d get banned on here for calling someone that but you’d get a report for calling someone that after game on pc, consoles etc, I had misworded a lot of stuff and left some out, my apologies.

I don't know if you'd get banned for that on the forums, it's not bypassing the filter to still show the intended word, it's still censored regardless. But again, my opinion VS how it would actually be handled. And yeah, the rest applies to what I said above for post-chat conversations.

Basically, I don't know how they'd handle both those senarios, but that's my opinion on both of them from my perspective.

Personally I wouldn’t know what would happen which is why I wouldn’t insult on any kind of social media, forums, consoles and in person cause I do not wanna know the consequences to what will happen, so I was just commenting on like telling the person to report them if they said that so that way he will, I don’t know I guess get reported. But I had read the forum rules and it says harassment of any kind will not be tolerated, so I had figured that if he was gonna tell someone that on here or just swear on here you’d possibly get a ban, or at least 1 strike. But again I’m sorry I had left stuff out and confused some people a bit or just wasted someone’s time (you).

but just know because I am new to forums I thought you were like, able to text people so I thought he was gonna say that to someone, figures. Im just typing way to fast and I actually got to think about what I’m saying before replying to people.

It's not a waste of time at all, don't beat yourself up about it! (if you were)

Regardless of what you or I think, it's best to just leave our opinions on it and move on. Thank you for your concern with the OP, it's always appreciated! I'm just following up on your reply to give my thoughts on it is all, but I've already said that before so... You're aware of that by now.

At that point... It's more-so them memeing than being literal.

I know this is a joke though, but some people might actually do that for... Some reason.
