D-Strike Needs Some Changes
Hey, so I’m a survivor main (I know I know, half of you already hate me but just keep reading) and I was thinking about a way to fix D-Strike to counter tunneling and to not give the survivors complete safety.
DS requires a few changes but does NOT need a rework. I have a few changes that could make the perk more.. fair for both sides. (As “fair” as you can make it in this game)
First of all, DS should not have a timer. It will never run out, but if the survivor starts working on a generator, starts healing, or does anything altruistic it should go away. This makes it so killers can’t just run the timer out and wait for the survivor to lose it. But this also makes it so survivors can’t just be “immortal” while DS is up.
Another change would be to make DS go away once another survivor is hooked. If the survivor is still on the ground and not picked up a 15 second timer on DS starts and if they’re not picked up by then, it will run out.
Do I need to change anything? Or is it well off? Thanks for listening to my idea.

How to make DS useless 101

So you went about it the wrong way because healing is more situational than that. If your at a pallet and are self caring as the killer goes around the pallet it would make d strike way more useless since it would basically be like stay injured or get tunneled.

That would be perfect.
DS disabling only when starting to heal/working on a gen/another survivor being unhooked.
Great idea!

If you are getting tunneled, why would you be self-caring at a pallet?
0 -
Because you want to get healed before you get smacked down again plus what about proxy campers?
1 -
If you get smacked down, you will still have your DS still and even if they slug you, you’ll eventually get picked up by either the killer or another survivor. As for proxy camping, DS isn’t meant to counter camping. Use BT

Ok let me say it like this. Before ds is tweaked tunneling and camping needs to be dealt with because that’s the whole reason ds was introduced.

Think this would be very unhealthy for the end game collapse. It's already bad enough that you cannot get a kill if there's still at least 2 healthy survivors when one person is hooked. Now it's even easier. Just trade hooks with the killer until you've all been hooked. And all four survivors have unlimited DS to run out the exit gates.

That could be said about a lot of things in Dead By Daylight. Borrowed Time = Camping, Unbreakable = Slugging, DS = Tunneling, etc

What are the chances that you’ll get to the end game collapse with all four survivors, everyone is on their first or second hook, and are all healthy? Also, DS would go away once another survivor was hooked.

i play mostly survivor, but both at reds
if it HAS to be changed then do this;
- If another survivor is put into the dying state while Decisive Strike is active, the perk will deactivate.
Personally I don't want it changed, but this is as fair as a compromise as I can think of

No.

I feel like this situation is not only not unlikely. But normal. The end game collapse is in a really bad state. So yeah if it goes away on the next hook I guess that would make it okay. But honestly I think it's already in a really good spot. I don't see anything wrong with the current state of it.

I only made this post because of the whole “god” survivors with the sixty second DS. And many very bad “solutions”

There is 1 thing about "time has no limit" and "if do any M1 work, it will disable"
Image 5 gen done and gate opened. There is nothing left to do. You know that DS will stay forever if one just off the hook

I dont know where people get the idea of DS being "not fair" for killers, DS is kinda closing the door on "THE WORST" thing in dbd which is tunneling.
The only change i may accept is DS deactive when the survivor touch a gen, other than that no just leave it alone.
2 -
No. What if someone unhooks you while injured, they get downed immediately after and the killer starts chasing you. Even though this is situation is the killer tunneling and what DS is meant to be used for, according to your change DS would deactivate and the killer would be able to get a free kill on the tunneled survivor
1 -
So you are saying that you are not helping the team in any way, shape or form to keep your DS until the end? Also, unless the killer did bad, someone else would at-least be hooked before then.

I dont say that. Sometimes its about 3 healthy try to unhook the 4th one. Then all try to run to the gate. Just say if u're lucky to hit down another one,ok. But if down the unhooked one? Other 3 can simply just run escape. Because u will have no way to pick up that survivor because DS last forever.
Tunneling one to dead in early game is stupid I agree. But at end game, u may have to make sure a kill.
There was a streamer game, I dont remember who. Other 3 are dead / escape. Only 1 just off the hook in middle of the map crawling to the gate. The streamer had to wait for that one crawling near the escape to pick up and hook, just to make sure that 60sec DS deactivated. Now image DS stay forever.
As for my idea:
- Keep 60sec count down
- Any action will drop to 0sec immediately

The reason I removed the countdown was to make it so the killer couldn’t just chase the unhooked survivor for 60 secs, down, and hook them again. And if the survivor unhooked themself? Good job to them, but you could make it so that another survivor has to unhook them for the survivor to get it I suppose. I wasn’t really thinking about Kobes.

DS is mostly fine. The only change I'd make is to have it deactivate if you personally unhook someone. That's it. DS is necessary in a game where survivors have no defense after coming off the hook.

DS only needs 2 changes: Deactivate if grabbed from a locker, and deactivate if another survivor gets hooked. That's it.

DS is supposed to be useless unless you're getting tunnelled. If you think this kills DS then good, you're not supposed to be using it for 60 seconds of invulnerability, you're supposed to use it to waste the killer's time tunnelling you off the hook.

and deactivate if another survivor gets hooked
Its possible for a Killer that down DS user, and luckily down another one healing behind a tree nearby and hook them to deactivate DS user.

DS is not an anti-tunnel perk. No where in the perk description does it say "for tunneling ONLY". One of DS's primary functions is to help thwart tunneling, but much like other perks it has more than one application/use. It is fine the way it is, and functions as intended.
