To all sweaty players. Why?

Zaitsev
Zaitsev Member Posts: 1,285

I get the need to win. Everyone likes winning, but is the 2 word phrase "Merciless Killer" or one word phrase "escaped" really worth ruining the fun of everyone else?

I mean, how much can rank mean to you? And Im not tryna sound like an ######### here, I genuinely want to know what drives people to not accept fun and only care about winning.

Oh I dont mean not trying to win, but is winning truly all that matters? I mean, its a video game, I dont see the need to win every time.

Probably explains my abysmal DBFZ record tho

If you play a game with the expectation to lose, why would you even want to play such a game? "It's a video game", I understand it is, but what does reminding me that a game is a game supposed to mean?

If i feel that im improving, learning and getting better im willing to put in the gameplay to win, the problem with some games *COUGH HACK LEAGUE O LEGENDS COUGH HACK* Is you can put hundreds of hours into some games and not feel you are improving, in high ranks (which I am not part of) i feel that it might be that to feel that sense of improving you have to play "sweaty" slugging people to apply pressure, or keeping near the hook if people are nearby.

As survivor I wouldn't consider myself a sweaty try hard but I'm also not trying to lose. I don't run full meta perks, maybe one or two in a build (never ds). I try to win because that's what you're supposed to do in a game. I also play non toxic as to not ruin the killer's enjoyment. But I also don't like losing to something unfair. Like latency hits or noed after not being caught all game. If I die after a good chase then that's fine. Those chases provided me excitement from the game.

Just as when I play killer, I never run noed as to not ruin a survivor's enjoyment. Plus if I get a kill I want to have earned it. Or if they all escape I don't want it to be from a full DS, dead hard, unbreakable, BT swf that ran god loops all game. They didn't earn that. If I got outplayed and they escape then again, that was a fun and educational chase.

I just hate feeling cheated. That's when the fun stops.

Wow this community is something else. Op has a valid point, its not about playing casual but half the community plays like antisocial aholes that will win at any cost. Just chill the f out, don't need to bring ebony moris to guarantee your kills, because Noone cares just makes everyone think you're a douche playing a mori every game. They could easily make this game a lot better by removing keys and Moris, iri head, and other such op things that are abused by limited talent players so they can feel like winners. Its bs

Rank don't mean anything in this game, I got to rank 4 survivor and I play meme's on too of meme's.

It's fun and I understand OP points, you don't need to play SWF all with DS, unbreakable/OoO triple purple flashlight.

But some people enjoy playing that way I guess.

The same way I play killer, not like an #########. If you win you win if you lose you lose, if you need to tunnel off the hook and bring an ebony, insidious camp, wraith camp, a million other cheap ass ways to play, just to not lose, ingot news for you, your a suck killer and noone wants to play against you, and your "victory" is hollow. Same mentality of someone that would camp a spawn in a game just to win or someone that hacks. How fun is it to cheat and win? Its pathetic, I don't care if the game provides these things, they're dirty and cheap, and only a suck player would use them.

To be honest rank mean nothing to me. But kill toxic click click teabag survivor give me orgasm. It this case i all wanna hook him and camp till die. Sometimes i bring to death some of his SWF player when they come to save him - so little bonus for me.

I get that you're trying to say I'm a survivor main and you don't know me, I play both sides equally and I can tell you are killer biased. Survivors shouldn't be toxic aholes either, unless they're taunting beating some jackass killer player with his ebony, keys are bs, post game hate messages are bs, teabagging bs, abusing ds is bs, thats really about all survivors can do to be Jerks that I can think of offhand. If everyone played both sides it'd be a lot friendlier of a game

I don't personally find a lot of meta perks fun. I run the ones I like, and don't bother with the ones I don't. Nothing in my comment was speaking to my personal preferences.

But yes, most people play with their friends because it is fun. Most people run meta perks because being able to pull off powerful moves in games is fun. Winning is fun, and for many players, sharing that victory with friends makes it even more fun. All of that should go without saying.

The original post was based on two assumptions: first, that people who determinedly pursue victory do so to the exclusion of an enjoyable gaming experience, rather than to enhance it, and second, that everyone finds enjoyment or fulfillment in the same things to begin with. The point of the post, as I saw it, was to question what, on such bases, would motivate players to be "sweaty", and the point of my comment was to address that question by pointing out the flaws in the reasoning that led to it.

To put it more simply, the OP was essentially saying, "Being sweaty isn't fun, so why do you do it?". And the simple answer to that question is, "Because being sweaty is fun."

Do you enjoy matches against double slow down Freddy with Franklin's and an ebony? Iri head infantry belt huntress with an ebony mori? Hook camping deathslinger with monitor and an ebony mori? Hook camping silent all seeing wraith with an ebony? Playing against killers that pull out all the jerk moves IS NOT FUN. It might be fun if they suck and you can clown them anyway, but at red ranks they are usually decent and they have stacked the deck so much in their favor that its lame as hell. THAT is sweat, and its not fun for anyone. This isn't war or the Olympics, its an f'ing video game

You honestly have to play sweaty right now. It's not an option. Killers can't take it easy and get kills. People have gotten too good at the game. It's either you try hard all the time or everyone escapes. For survivors... With how common NOED and Mori's are currently. You have to try your very hardest to survive. Otherwise you're going to get tunneled off hook and mori'd. Very bad state for both sides at the current moment. And can't blame either side for doing what they do to try and win.

    Freudentrauma Member Posts: 1,053

Yeah that's kinda true. The way ranking up and matchmaking works currently lead people to play much more sweaty, because they feel like they need to. Otherwise they risk getting a hard time by the other side.

Of course there are people who enjoy it, but I think they are quite in a minority.

I'm in the same boat on this on. I think there are a lot of things wrong with this community as a whole. I understand everyone wants to win but some of the things wrong with this game, primarily its inability to have a fair matchmaking system make it difficult for some people to enjoy a lot of the time. When skilled killers go against a team that has an easily recognizable new/low rank player and then tunnels that person out asap to make it that much easier, or for killers who have total and absolute match control such as as 1 on the hook, 2 slugged and to go for the last in the first 2 mins when nobody has even touched a gen, or when an elite swf team strapped up with BTs and D-strikes, faces a baby killer then taunts and terrorizes them... these things are not only un-fun, but they're extremely frustrating because they are so frequent. In the name of sportsmanship go for the win but at the same time were not like professional athletes who do this to get rich, we do it because we love it. With that said, it goes a long way for other players if we lighten up on the throttle when one side has total and absolute match control and is utterly dominating.

Rank means nothing to me. I can mess around as survivor or killer and still reach rank 1 in less than a week.

As survivor if I try and play a meme build like sabo or full team with head on I'm apparently bullying the killer. If I die the killer then messages us saying haha we're useless so we need to escape at the end. This means that I need to play normal and gen rush the killer so I'm not "bullying" anyone.

The killer getting a merciless killer is a good thing. It means they didn't camp or tunnel and probably 3 hooked everyone.

    Dwinchester Member Posts: 961

I guarantee you the people that do that have been destroyed in the last few games. Had that happen to me tonight, three games, one kill. Started the next mach with double windstorm wraith, and a survivor got toxic. I snapped and went full sweat, camping and tunneling one guy down and slugging for the 4k.

Not particularly. Nor do I enjoy playing against survivors who flashlight me the whole time and hit me with DS after I've already hooked two of their teammates, but I deal with it because games in which two sides compete are never fun for everyone all the time and that's just how it is. It's nice when my opponents go out of their way to ensure I have a good time, but I would never feel so entitled as to expect it of them.

Incidentally, I never said that the playstyle I'm defending is my own, so rhetorical questions about what I personally enjoy aren't really relevant. Nor did I say that playing competitively is fun for everyone involved - in fact, I explicitly pointed out the opposite in my very first comment on the thread. Please take some time to read what I'm saying in context before jumping down my throat over points I never made.

Your statement separates the Casual playerbase from the "I Play To Win" playerbase.

And there are a lot of players on both sides.

  • joker7997

My point is its not only not fun for the opposing side when someone goes hard-core jerkoff, its also indecent. The games busted and the devs are inept at fixing it in a timely manner. Many simple things could be done to improve matches, but aren't. Exploiting this is no different than doing cheap ass loser things in other games that only the lowest of the low noobs engage in, but in this community game after game lately is ebony mori, op add on, tunneling or camping, Franklin's demise trash killers. If I can more often than not get 3-4k without playing this way so can others. The swf death squads are far far more rare, and the killer has the benefit of if being bagged by toxic jerkoffs can go full ahole and punish it. As survivor I don't play this way but am getting hit with ebony mori after ebony mori, its total trash bs.

    Well said.

I prefer to play way more casual because I pretty much have everything in the game at this point. However I tend to gauge my "audience", so to speak. when playing killer and will either play more "sweaty" if I noticed the team is showing skill on their part, or I'll play more fun/Role play scary if I notice the team seems less skilled or "immersed" themselves.

Basically whatever is more fun more my enjoyment or the match overall.

I don't always tryhard but I do understand the need to. Winning is fun, after all.

I just wish there was a casual and competitive mode so people who WANT to tryhard don't constantly get paired with people who DON'T want to tryhard and vice versa.

I would say as a survivor.

Rank as a killer is a bit different. It's harder to pip as a killer, and there are no teamates to boost you.

I have hit rank 1 as killer, and currently hit rank 4 as a survivor on PS4. I feel I am definitely a better killer than survivor. But my team is a big reason why I survive many games.

As a killer it is not only up to you alone, but you gotta hope survivors dont dc, suicide on first hook..and such.

Very subjective and situational. If I'm trying to get Adept on a Killer, you can bet I'm going to play the sweatiest of sweats possible in order to secure the win. Especially on killers like The Pig, The Plague, and The Clown who are (in my opinion) the hardest killers to get Adept on at high ranks. When I'm not going for Adept, I've been called a sweaty killer for getting a 4k, even though all Survivors are bringing flashlights, toolboxes, or med-kits with ridiculous add-ons. I'm playing to have fun, and to have fun is to win. Minimum I'll take is a 2k. But if I'm confident I can secure a 4k, I'm risking it for the biscuit.

I get called sweaty all the time, so I guess my input counts.

It's just generally how I play. I just naturally try really hard, it's not something I choose to do.
