This dead end fools every survivor
I’ve played this map 3 times in a row today and every time there is at least one survivor who runs down here and realises they screwed up

I literally fell for it just today. Though I feel like there should be loops with dead ends like these, to catch a survivor that isn't paying attention off guard.

This spot got me day 1. I was just checking it out and the killer came through the new door. 😐 That was the end of my self guided tour.
2 -
The reason is quite simple. There was never a dead end therebefore

To be fair, if you don't inspect it closely you won't notice there's a dead end.

IT JUST GOT ME

Bad flaw design though.

Bad design, I found noed totem there at the end, ez 4k after getting like 2 hooks all game.
8 -
It’s a funny one but noone falls for it twice.

its just bad map design
not some 400iq trap

I fell for it the first day after it came out, just because I hadn't watched any of the PTB and didn't see the map changes. Never again.

Happened to me today! Found it funny but, as everyone else is saying, no one will fall for it twice.

As a newer player I love dead end spots like this, and I don't have any of the maps memorized so I'm definitely going to fall for it a few times.
Every time I run into one it's such a brick in the face moment and I can't help but laugh about it. I feel like they probably make for good hiding places though if the killer never expects you to be there.

Is it bad design?
I like the idea of paths that don't have exits like this. It'd be nice if there were more in other buildings as well.
2 -
Punish new survivors more? No reason to do so imo.

Ya that dead end got me a kill earlier. Shame I was already t3 on myers or that could have been a delicious stalk too.

Feels like a mini-basement: One way in & out.
I don't mind, as Survivor, i either fall for it once, or i find out about it beforehand.
Which i did just now in this discussion.

There's a semi dead-end in the newest map if the killer doesn't break the wall. Got me twice now.
Bad map design or not-- I think it's fun.

Would it just punish new survivors?
It seems like many people here have run into this dead end and had a story to tell. Some even sound entertained by their experience. Afterwards any player would pay more attention to this particular area and avoid the same mistake.
Having more incidents like this that create stories and moments like this are only good imo.

Yes they are excited by the fresh change, but what about the experiences of newer survivors who will be frustrated with how misleading the tiles are and feel cheated. I'd rather we not discourage the growth of the population over giving veterans one more funny story.

There's a shot on lerys although it's not as long. Gets me every time

To all the people in this thread saying it is bad map design, why do you think that is true? People running from killers in movies run into dead ends. If anything, there is an appalling lack of dead ends in this game.
4 -
Not surprised that you like those.
6 -
Fell for it today, that’s just bad design more than anything

Great response, the comparison between dead ends and infinites is eerily accurate
2 -
It's not as accurate as you think.
The Survivor dictates where to go during a chase. If a survivor knows about an infinite they may run to it. If a survivor knows about a dead end, they're not going to run into it.
The killer can't lead a survivor into a dead end, but a survivor can lead a killer to an infinite.
If they don't know about it they'll fall into the trap just like a killer could fall for an infinite, but they would learn and avoid it in the future.
The situations are quite different.
2 -
Killers can influence a chase, but you're right that survivors have more.

Fell for it too. First time I played on that map since it got reworked and I trapped myself there. Oof
Not too fond of it, but eh. It most likely will be a one time thing getting trapped there, unless totems spawn there.
I don't really like the idea of a no way out kind of thing, because if the killer (or a fellow survivor) wants, he can just go afk there and trap the survivor who's cleansing a totem.
If the path was wider, sure. That'd be fine.

Also, in regards of new players: How long during the game do you think a survivor need to realize: "this is a dead end".
How long do you think a new killer needs to realize: "I cant catch survivors on that loop, because i am not good at chases yet, but i cant catch them on this loop because its an infinite".
If i play a game, i usually do it without guides and forums. But it was here in the forums where i first realized that infinites are a thing.

The one I really hate is the small room in the center in the meat plant map. The maps already confusing enough it sucks running into that room when your being chased.
I also hate the Haddenfield map version where the basement house backyard is surrounded by bushes and the only way out is from the side or through the front of the house. It sucks getting unhooked from the basement and running into a backyard surrounded by bushes and getting downed then put back in the basement again.
Personally as much as I hate these, I think the dead ends ads an element of fear and challenge.

One time story vs life time bad map design. Take your pick.
