Any tips for playing/learning Spirit?

I love her design and cosmetics. I have also enjoyed playing against her so what is a good build for a new spirit player?

Have ears. Use stridor to counter the only counterplay perk iron will. It's really that simple. With a little time you will easily win "mindgames" or lets say little tricks survivors can do to manipulate you.

Once their are injured it's an easy down to follow up

Focus on sound and if survivors don't like leaving a pallet or you notice a trend like they will attempt to slow vault a pallet when you phase, capitalize on it. Spirits biggest strength is the ability to play on her 50/50, simply standing still can be enough to scare uneasy survivors back your way.

Sloppy is a nice addition to any build imo, so nab that when you get the chance. If you struggle with just following sounds and scratch marks you should try out predator on her for a game or two but try not to make a habit of running it because it can become a sort of crutch that you don't want to let go. Kinda like a certain Huntress I watch can't let go of Shadowborn.

Try not to go after aura reading perks because she can't see auras when she's phasing, so bitter murmur is a poor choice on her a little more than other killers imo.

And finally, practice makes perfect, you're gonna have bad games, especially when you first start off playing a killer you're unfamiliar with. Take each loss as a learning experience, and pay no mind to ill mannered survivors poor behavior. Just keep learning so you can maybe face them again some day and show them how much you've improved as a Spirit player. ^^

A good build would look something like

1 or 2 info perks (BBQ, Whispers, Thrilling tremors, etc...)

1 or 2 Slow down perks (Pop, Corrupt, Sloppy butcher, etc...)

    So you probably want either

1 Info perk and 2 slow downs

    or

2 info perks and 1 slow down

For the 4th perk I recommend stridor. It amplifies the breathing and grunts of pain of survivor so it’s probably her best perk.

Aa for playing it’s down to practice but tips I can give is to pay attention to everything. Scratch marks and grunts are the most obvious but there’s also things like a grass moving and footsteps which are very powerful once you get good at listening and watching for them.

Monitor and Abuse is also an effective perk on Spirit. The whooshing notification is not based on terror radius but was always 24 meters from the husk. So there’s no loss in ability using it.

My biggest tip is watching the ground for signs of movement in addition to listening. Listening gives you a general idea of where the survivors are. The grass moving is definitive.

My last tip is to come out of phasing if you know a survivor you were chasing stopped running. A common tool survivors use is to stop running and walk/urban evade to a hiding spot. The faster you do this to when they stop running the faster you can smack them while they’re walking to their random hiding spot. It’s way easier to hit a walking survivor as well.

This is also known as feathering your ability. Sometimes short phases are the best moves and don’t be afraid to mix up your choices. If you waited by a pallet during your first chase, use your ability quickly in the second. Keeps everyone off balance.

Spirit is a good killer, and while stridor is a great perk to use on her, don't depend on it too much as it can handicap you hearing survivor noises normally and it's a pretty cheap perk to run on her. Learn to track survivors by things like seeing tall grass rustle or hearing their footstep noises. A lot of iron will users I come across think that they're undetectable while using the perk and just run in a straight line, unaware that I can still see the grass and hear their footsteps, which ends in an easy down for me. One perk I really like on her is Surveillance, as it lets you hear survivors working on gens further away and it'll let you know when survivors get back on a gen so you can go for sneaky terror radius grabs. My spirit build is BBQ, surveillance, pop and any of these perks -> thrilling tremors, corrupt intervention, blood warden, devour hope, haunted grounds, sloppy butcher, nurse's calling. If I see three or four medkits/claudettes in the lobby, I switch out surveillance for nurse's calling and make my fourth perk sloppy butcher. There is nothing I love to see more than a Claudette self caring in a corner with nurse's calling.

There's always the mindgames of standing still which you probably already know. One thing though is spinechill gives away the mindgame. If you know someone has it you can still just enter phase and stay in place to trick people into vaulting on to you on maps like hawkins. Ironically them actually knowing you are phasing can work against them.
