Survivors, Make up your minds about slugging.

I just had a discussion with some survivor who chastised me for using infectious fright to slug, saying it is a "toxic playstyle". But I mean...everyone and their mum runs D-Strike nowadays, so what do they expect people to do? If I'm walking about and suddenly I find a survivor I think has DS still, If I see nobody else I'm going to down and slug them.

Isn't this what survivors want? to not be hooked straight away again? Infectious gives another target to chase as well, so it promotes going after other people. I don't really care about the fake rules people come up with, just baffled by the hoops people jump through to shame others for basically nothing.

I will say I get why killers who never hook anyone is boring though, until everyone has been knocked down. That is kinda lame, but again everyone should be able to play how they want, on both sides, with the Devs balancing the game to promote healthy playstyles. Until survivors have another objective, slugging is one of the best pressure tools in this game for killers.

You're not wrong about shaming others for the way they play being silly, pointless and in some cases hypocritical. Still, I'd caution you against the assumption that everything you've heard said by someone from a particular group is a perspective universally shared by members of that group. Of course there are exceptions, but most of the survivors who hate being slugged and tell killers off for doing it are not the same people who will tell killers "just slug" when they complain about DS. And I've yet to meet a survivor who complains about slugging but would nevertheless rather be slugged than re-hooked.

I would rather be hooked than slugged every time, no exceptions. But I will admit that I do slug people occasionally because I refuse to tunnel people, so if I go to hit an offhooker and accidently get the fresh offhook, I will slug that guy so someone else can come get them off the ground. So I can not say across the board, never slug, ever. There are times it is beneficial, even understandable. Myers and Oni are one shot for a short time, why not get 2 before it runs out. But just slugging every player until you can leisurely hook everyone is unacceptable, slugging the last guy and following him around for several minutes until he bleeds out is unacceptable. So for slugging I would say you just have to chose where the line is, because no play styles are all good or all bad, just have to chose your moments I guess.

I get what you mean about making assumptions. I play both solo survivor and killer around equally, depending on lobby times. I'm mostly talking about the players who won't own up to when they made a bad play (like not leaving the gen they were hooked right next to), and decide to blame it on the other side. this goes both ways, killers included.

That's fair - I didn't get that from your original post, but I can understand where the frustration comes from. Those types of people bug the hell out of me as well, to be honest. You're never going to improve your skills if you can't admit they're anything less than perfect to begin with.

Alright, give us some time to go and spread the word throughout the hive mind 🙄

Yeah I agree, going into a match with no plans to hook anyone is not that fun, and its a chore on both sides. And if I see somebody else to chase who wasnt just unhooked I'll gladly chase them instead. but when people use DS to play super bold or bumrush the killer to try to waste their time stabbing them then I no longer care how survivors feel about slugging.

Heh, that actually made me chuckle. The title is a bit too general to be fair. I mainly mean the entitled players, but then again they would find any reason to hate their opposition.

Sorry but I’m going to nitpick...

”Until survivors have another objective, slugging is one of the best pressure tools in this game for killers.”

This kinda implies that killers would not slug if survivors had another objective....as if they want to play fair and honorable but are unable to. Not true...this narrative needs to stop. Killers would still camp/tunnel/slug if survivors had another objective. Those playstyles would not stop until removed, that’s what the “add another survivor objective” crowd fail to understand. It’s not that simple.

There is no narrative, the whole point of this is I think there is nothing wrong with slugging to create pressure and to play around perks or things like flashlights. And again, it IS the best way to pressure survivors, since the survivor can't do gens and somebody needs to get off a gen to pick them up. And since there is no other objective for survivors but generators, then PRESSURING them to get off them is the best way for killers to buy time to win.

Implying that toxic killers would stop being toxic if survivors had to work harder to finish their objective is daft, and was not the point I was making.

Only time I don't like slugging is when there's 4/5 gens left and the killer slugs everyone and refuses to hook. Otherwise I think it's a legit strategy.

I'd also rather get slugged if I get farmed than being put on hook again.
