P3ing takes much less than getting all t3 perks
To be honest, I don't understand people who say that prestiging costs THAT much time and bloodpoints. If you compare the time you waste on P3 to the time you waste on getting all tier 3 perks, prestiging looks really cheap by that point.

Sure, but then you have all the perks, as opposed to just a bloody outfit. Don't get me wrong, I'm a P3/all perks kind of person myself, but it's definitely the grindier option.

I just find it really strange that people try to get all perks without P3ing. Like, c'mon. P3 takes, like, 20% of the whole time.

I might be the exception but I try to p3 everyone (at least killers) even tho I don't touch them often. The only killer I will never waste more points I'm is my prestige 0 level 40 hag lol

If I have a meeting I will usually get them to prestige 3 and get all the perks on them.

Because if you don't care about P3 it's a waste of time and points. I P3d one character for the achievements. I have no intention of P3ing anyone else because it's a waste.

Mmm why would I waste bp prestiging when I actually want to unlock teachables and then get the teachables I need on said character, if I intend to play them anyway. I don't even care about getting "all perks" I just want good perks. There's a reason I leave many teachables locked.

I will never ever P3 any killers unless I have no other options to spend points on, but that may not be the case...I'd rather have all killers P1 lvl 50 with all perks lvl 3 than having some bloody clothes + there are a ton of new skins much better for many killers...

well i own every perk for every killer and survivor, i also use cosmetics i brought because i think they look better... so thats why i dont prestige, like sure going from 1-50 isnt as long but as killer i dont wanna be going against meta swf with the worst perks possible. having all the perks means i can play how i want and focus more on fun than the grind

Honestly,P3 is only really worth on licensed character because they have so few to none cosmetics.
And the BP you save by not P3'ing can be used to get perks/items/addons/offerings on other characters.Don't forget,choosing to not P3 a character means about 4.5 million BP saved.

Not for, I generally don't like setup killers and I'm not the biggest fan of Trapper either. But I rather take Trapper over hag (Trapper is p3) because at least he fast boi and very interactive in chases without using traps

I switched to PC at the beginning of February. I have twelve P3 killers and four P3 survivors. It’s been considerably easier to do with the three week blood rush and all the Archives.
If the anniversary event is similar to last year I plan on loading up Gateaux’s on my favorite characters while I tier 3 there perks.

For me, it's the fact that all those Bloodpoints spent on prestiging could have been put to much better use by spending them on a different character. It costs approximately 1.6 million BP to take a character from level 1 to level 50, so doing this 4 times would cost you 6.4 million BP. That's 4.8 million BP that could have been used getting four other characters from level 1-40.
And if you've already gotten all characters to 40 and unlocked their teachables, that 4.8 million BP would be much better served unlocking perks and/or juicing up your main characters inventories.
To me, prestiging seems like it only makes sense when there's literally nothing else left for you to spend BP on.

Ok but then if you start prestiging people after youve done everything else, you wasted a mother truck ton of bps as soon as you click that prestige button.
The way i do it is i worked my way through p3 with trapper. When he was at p3 50, i took half my bps from a game and dumped them into trapper, the other half i saved. Rinse and repeat till i had a million saved up. Then i would dump that million into another character im prestiging. That way trapper slowly gains perks, i replenish his add ons and im p3ing other characters. Of course this was after I 40'd everyone.
I also save my iri shards up to 8000, when i got that i go to the shrine of secrets for an extra 650k.
I highly recommend p3ing freddy or doc first. Once youve got them p3 and all the perks for them, you can play them without add ons and still do well, so its literally all being saved for the character your p3ing. You dont have to, if you want to play someone else do so, you just have to spend bps replenishing add ons.

I feel like I'm wasting bps if I put any into a lvl 50 character. So I prestige instead.
I have maybe... 10?... lvl 1 prestige killer right now. They'll probably all get prestige 3 around the same time.
And I might do the same for survivors after I finish the killers... but it will take a while...

Its gonna annoy the hell out of people if the planned new prestige rewards are something crazy cool/useful.

Imagine a new players getting a game today. He has 19 killers with 69 perks and 21 survivors with 77 perks. P3 alone will cost you around 4.5 million bp for 1 character and leaves you with nothing. Not everyone has time to grind all that bp just so they can start from scratch again.

If it's something useful, and it's not reasonably accessible by the entire player base regardless of their past choices (i.e. opting not to prestige and instead full-perk a main because prestiging is currently not worthwhile), there's going to be a massive revolt on the forums. Because it is (I assume) a new system/moving of goalposts, it needs to be accompanied by an option to reset your character levels and globally refund all BP for a one-time reallocation.
It needs to be friendly to all players, and not a selective portion of players. This is more important than making a few players feel special-as-heck because they did a big grind when no solid payoff was there.

I never understood getting all T3 perks without prestiging either. It feels like a new movement from the newer generations of players who can't or don't want to deal with the grind of 2020 with all the content we've received almost 4 years later, so yeah, in a sense prestiging is a much greater task than it was way back when.
However, even if it is, it still feels hella incomplete if you T3 perks without prestiging. Prestiging gives you a greater likelihood of rarer items in your bloodwebs there is a direct benefit beyond the P3 outfit pieces you get after every prestige. Especially if that character is your main and you play them frequently, if you T3 all perks and later down the line you decide to P3 you will have wasted a TON of bloodpoints and time.
It's even worse because then you're getting all perks, eventually deciding to P3, and then get all perks.
And I mean, think about it this way, if you P3 there is NOTHING left to do afterward. There is no P4, once you make it to P3 you're good and you get the benefit of everything. It's the end of the line so to speak, now you all you need to do is maintain your character with add-ons, offerings, etc.
and I mean, since you're playing DBD why not? There's no compaign, not everyone likes the diversity of the challenges of the archives, so why not give yourself your own goals? Like P3-ing certain and specific characters you enjoy.

I have never wasted Iridescents on a cosmetic item. My time is way more valuable than that, and I would rather spend a trivial $5 on something than a bunch of shards that it took 15 times as long to earn.

It's $7 every three months. I mean, I'm not trying to judge or anything, I'm just saying that the shard cost for a piece of content is super, super out of whack compared to just straight-up paying a small dollar value for it, in terms of the time spent earning each currency.

I mean, bring BBQ&Chili with Pudding as a killer and it takes a few games to get the same amount of bloodpoints. It takes decades to farm 2000 iridescent shards and less than a half of an hour to get 150000 bloodpoints. Plus, you have archives and dailies. I just don't get how 150000 BP is a fair trade to 2000 IS.

It takes longer for me to grind out that 8k shards and/or 650k bps than it does for me to make 10 dollars to spend on dlc. So for me st least, the 650k bps is more valuable. So spending the 8k on bps just makes more sense, for me I know not everyones in that situation

I never said the grind wasn't a big issue it is, it's a huge intimidating slog especially for the new players. It's also probably one of those bigger issues we'll see tackled sooner rather than later. However, I myself am still choosing to P3 because I'm still playing, I'm still grinding, might as well put those bloodpoints toward an endgame rather than a "temporary paradise" of all T3 perks on a specific character.

I don't care about the cosmetics, there is no other reward at the moment, so why would I ever prestige a character? I have a grand total of P1 Kate for the bloody shirt. Only prestige cosmetic I wanted. No prestiged killers, no other prestiged survivors. It's too many wasted bloodpoints for no real reward except completionism.

I don't know how you calculated the cost, but my calculation is about 5,7 to 6 Million BP to get all the perks, starting at Level 1 and 4,5 to get to Prestige 3 Level 1 (you would still need to spend the 5,5 to 6 Million to get all the perks).
So if my calculation isn't completely off, prestiging would definitly take more than 20% of the whole time.

Prestige is simply a "collectible", thats why people grind it. Of course it makes no sense in any other mean to prestige. Prestige is a relic when there were no cosmetics.
And I slightly disagree with the "20%" statement. Getting a character to P3 takes at least 4,5m BP when you don't care about good items, and then you are P3 with no perks, meaning this is simply the offset. Last time I checked, calculated and did a maxxed out character, it was about 5m BP to get all perks tier 3. So it is more like 50%
And just if someone is interested in it, for new survivors I would always recommend to not prestige the first character. Pick the one you like the most regarding perks, and invest 2m BP to get all base perks to level 3. The base perks and the 3 teachables have enough valuable choices, like Spinechill, Kindred and We'll make it are almost meta anyway. Deja Vu, Small Game, Premonition and Dark Sense are great for new survivors as well. Combined with the teachables of your pick, you should already have a pretty solid build.
It doesn't take that long to get to your first 2m BP, and after that you can start leveling other characters to get your desired teachables from other characters, which can instantly be unlocked on your main once you got them. Just killer is a harder choice, because they are more perk dependend and you have to play them all on like level 1 before you can estimate if you want to put BP into them or not.

Because most of the time I find a Rift or store cosmetic that I like more than the bloody. I’d rather ya ten bucks than waste hours of time, yes I know it’s a game so all time is wasted but you get my point. For most people that $10 is an hour or less of work so it’s the most time efficient option

you can calculate like that of course, the counter argument is that money is more for real life and not to cut off playtime you would need to "waste". sure, you pay money for the game anyway, but it sounds like you don't enjoy it when getting shards is such a pain. Money is for some people more valuable than time. Just an opinion

Oh absolutely. When it comes to money I never intend to tell people whats more valuable or how they should use it. I just meant for myself if I can get an outfit from the store I go that route before spending time prestige.
Pyramid head may be the first I change my mind on simply because I have done all of the steps to max out saved BPs I’m thinking between my 1 million, the rifts, shrine and dailies I will be able to get him to p2 on day 1 and then start to level him normally. If someone (Paulie) leaks a sweet outfit before that I’ll hold off and just buy it

Dang, I'm honestly surprised that even with new prestige rewards being hinted at, this many people still seem so sure about not prestiging their characters. As long as you don't mind the risk of it actually being something good, I guess not prestiging does save you bloodpoints and help get to tier 3 perks faster. But most people who have looked into everything about bloodwebs will tell you that prestige rewards have changed before and there's no garuntee that they won't change again. And now there's a very strong chance that they'll be changing soon. Sure, the bloody cosmetics are far from the best cosmetics for most characters, but even if you're not into those cosmetics or completion, you still have to take into consideration the possibility of prestige rewards changing again when considering whether or not to prestige.
