Anyone else feel the customization is a bit too much?
It's probably just me, but the amount of customization is starting to detract from the feel of the game to me.
I mean, we can customize the hooks, why? I get these honestly terrible tooking trinkets to hang on either my survivor or my hook for what exact reason?
And while there are some nice skins, there's a plethora of what I can only describe as bloatware in the store. It's just bloatware.
Anyone else feel the same?

I actually wish it went a bit further. Id like a custon character creator option. I know that wont happen because it might detract from sales, but I think it would be cool. On survivor side anyway.

Since you can pick and chose the pieces you want I see no problem.
It would be another story if he had random drops/lootboxes cuz then the bloatware would be to much for sure

in regards to outfits I guess having enough that everyone can find 1-2 they like is okay.
The charms for survivors and for killer hooks are pointless, I don’t even put them on

Well, they got pretty much lots of ways of adding even more cosmetics to the game. They stick to the character cosmetics and charms now, but there was a survey a few months ago I guess, when they asked us what kind of new customization items we'd like to see in the game (basement customizations, moris, gestures and so on). DBD is not the only one game that does it. They release new cosmetics, we buy cosmetics, they get money - this is how it works.
I'm honestly ok with more cosmetics being added unless it translates into game's health and balance. I personally do not buy many cosmetics, rather stick to what the Rift gives me.

you're talking to a community who literally lives for skins: you can easily search threads asking about legacy, asking about deathgarden mask on ps4, and people literally joying because they introduced legendary skins.

I'm a cosmetics person, so I mostly disagree. However, recolors in rifts kind of bug me. Feels cheap, and they should just stick to those being in the basic shop.
Still sad BHVR is against dances, but considering how much people hate tooshie bopping already, I get it, lol. I'd like to see old charms and outfits revisited in the shops as well, though I believe it's confirmed for outfits at least. More mori options would be grand, because some currently are rather lack luster.
Anyway, BHVR's gotta make money. Cosmetics sell. The more money they make, the better longevity the game has.

I am fairly certain that the weird floating hook effect where a survivor gets hooked and looks like their are either floating beside the hook or hooked in wrong places, like through the head, are a direct result of adding the charm options to the hooks. Mainly because these visual defects began the same time they introduced charms and they have not been fixed yet going on months now.
Now that detracts from the game for me.

Yes. I miss when this game wasn't made for cosmetics. It was just the game, and a few cosmetic bundles for $3. Even then, all of the cosmetics stayed in tone with the game/weren't anything too crazy. Now the games got cosmetics for $10 a piece, with ridiculous immersion breaking outfits. It's the same problem with TF2. The hats are great and fun, but it really diminishes the amazing original visual design of the game. Not to mention you can put stupid funko pops and your survivors belt and killer hooks now. So yeah now it's like any other multiplayer game. Sad, because DBD used to stand out from the crowd because it wasn't like the others.

I do love being able to customizer my characters and love the charms but I think they could calm down regarding both

I agree with you, @cheetocultleader. That is the only thing that I dislike about the Rift. I can understand recolors being in the free pass, but not the premium one. It just feels cheap.

There probably are those who do, and those who don't.

I don't spend real money on cosmetics, but others may want to so it doesn't bother me.
Keep buying all those cosmetics kids, so the rest of us can keep playing the game

Nah, I like customization. As for trinkets I initially didn't care, then I got my silver raven coin. Now I like trinkets and wish I could choose which way they hung.

I don't mind the things in the store but i'm not a fan of the charms. It was cool to start collecting them when they were new to me but, regardless of which side i'm playing, I barely remember they exist. Even when i'm using them.

I don't mind the cosmetic store, they have to make money somehow and it is a good way to do it. Not like they're forcing anyone to buy them, so it's not really an issue.
Charms suck though, they're just made to fill up the rift, but I doubt people really care about them. They're so small and unnoticeable on survivors, that they're mostly just for your own amusement. They make a bit more sense on killer hooks, where they're bigger and easier to see, but it really doesn't fit the game to see chibi versions of the survivors/killers. I have no charms equipped on any of my survivors and the charms on my killers are still from the first rift, cause I don't really bother to update them.

charms are dumb, it's true.
I still would like to dress as i please, however.
