People who think that Moris are more powerful than Keys: why is this?
I am genuinely serious about this question. When there is an argument about it, there are arguments from both sides. Here is my takeaway:
to perform a mori, you need to down someone, wait for the unhook, and down them again. Normally people like to tunnell with them, and it isn't fun to deal with.
With keys, you don't need to do a gen to use the key. You can wait for all 3 of your teammates to die and killer can close the hatch, but you can still use the key.
So why do people tend to say "you have to do gens to use the key"? Is it ment to say that you can use it early by getting the gens done?

Your own examples answer your question. With the killer tunneling for a mori, there is now a significantly higher likelihood of a 4K outcome. With your survivor example, one escaped. Which had more impact on the game?! On the survivor side, they have to not only get the required gens done, but it also takes coordination for more than 1 to escape with the key. Very clear difference in strength. Both need changing, but the mori is clearly more powerful and gamebreaking

Because you can X a survivor out in the first 2 to 3 minutes of the match.
Survivors cannot escape when they're all alive at 5 gens left.
If the survivor can't make it to a locker, it negates DS, negates various perks in their arsenal.

I think they're relatively similar in power despite what some people say. Yeah, a killer can knock out a survivor in just a couple minutes, but a team of survivors can have multiple survivors escape in just a couple minutes potentially. Especially if they're on comms or they have more than just one key on the team.
I'm not exactly taking a side on which is "stronger" because it's hard to draw that line when killers have such different gameplay than survivors. Killers rely on one player, the killer, but survivors can all work together as a unit and get amazing things done -- that's kind of the idea between the two roles. When it comes to moris and keys, the same thing kind of applies. I think if you're looking at it from a 1v1 perspective, a mori is probably stronger in my opinion depending on the rarity. On the other hand, if all 4 survivors have keys and even one of them finds the hatch (which honestly shouldn't be hard if 4 people are alive) then they're all outta there.
Either way, I think both are an easy out.

Three survivors can escape with a key if you do 4 gens, 2 if you do three. Hell four can get the hatch if you did all the gens. You have no idea the frustration of waiting 10 minutes in queue, getting 3 gens knocked out and getting an "entity displeased"

Keys require n+1 gens complete for hatch to spawn
moris require 1 hook state
trying to compare keys to the power of even 1 mori is idiotic

As a killer I think Moris are definitely stronger than keys. The Ebony Mori for sure, I'd say the other moris are mostly fine. The survivors need to complete a lot more of their objectives for the hatch to spawn while the killers don't need to complete nearly as many of their own goal.
Of course, both moris and keys are too strong and both should be reworked or removed. (I wouldn't want moris to be removed completely since they're fun and unique to the killers, but definitely reworked and the ebony probably just straight up removed.)

If your playing bad as killer and can't hook anyone then moris are useless. If your playing bad as survivor and can't do gens then keys are useless.
Both are completely broken. I'm personally shocked neither have been changed yet. I find keys more annoying to face since if I play well as killer a survivor can still get a free escape. Whereas if I well as survivor the killer may not have any chance to use the mori.
