Regress Generators by 5% with a normal kick (plus a ruin change)

Hey everyone! Both sides gamer here.

Honestly, as it stands right now, kicking generators doesn't really help much in most situations. Survivors can undo ~3 seconds of the Killer's time in .5 seconds (or less! I've seen it happen, and I've done it myself) by doing a drive-by on a generator. This makes preventing generators from being done nearly impossible against multiple Survivors (unless you have Pop Goes The Weasel), and you might as well say goodbye to that 95% completed generator that the Survivors are swarming around.

My problem with generator kicks is that it only STARTS the regression of the generator. I suggested a while back that they could change the generator repair animation of Survivors to make it more risky to tap the gen in certain situations... however, I have a better idea that doesn't involve changing animations.

If they would simply add a 5% regression penalty to a normal generator kick, I think it would discourage foolish behavior from Survivors and require more coordination from the team. The more they tap the generator, the more it regresses! Pop Goes The Weasel can stay the same, since it still just does what it does, and is a direct buff to the Killer's action, similar to Fire Up, Brutal Strength and Bamboozle.

As for the Ruin change, I would like to start by saying that I believe new Ruin is much better than old Ruin. However, I think it could use an additional regression penalty alongside it's new features. Adding a 1% regression penalty when a Survivor lets go of the generator and it is not being worked on by anyone else would be a great addition to Ruin. Of course, this could turn out to be busted for certain Killers (looking at you, Freddy), but I think it would be a great help to a majority of the Killer roster. And, Ruin can still be cleansed, so I don't think it would be that OP.

I would like to end this by saying that I play both sides frequently and am a rank 1 Survivor and rank 2-3 Killer. From my experience, I personally think that Killer needs some help, as I believe (and have experienced on both sides) that 4 decent Survivors can easily steam-roll a Killer of any skill, unless it's Nurse, Spirit or possibly Hillbilly. Small things like adding ACTUAL regression to generator kicks would help a bunch, and be great for Killers to not have to take PGTW if they want to slow the game down a little bit.

I mean, you're kicking the heck out of a generator... I think it should have SOME impact other than just starting regression!

TL;DR : Apply a 5% regression to normal generator kicks and add a 1% regression when Survivors let go of a generator with Ruin active.

5 is too much, 3% would do just fine.

Honestly, I never understood why kicking a gen never applied baseline regression, especially when survivors dont require a channeled action to repair a damaged (kicked) gen

I say 5% because that only equals to about 4.5 seconds of repair time! 3% would only be 2.4 seconds, and that wouldn't even cover the amount of time it takes for a Killer to kick the generator. Not to mention that multiple Survivors working on a generator would cover 3% in only about 1.5 seconds or so.... going by that, even 5% isn't enough to cover what multiple Survivors can do, but I think it would be balanced. 😛

Either add regression from the kick like you suggested, or have it so the survivor needs to spend a certain length of time on the generator (5 seconds?) to halt regression so they can't "Drive-by-gen-tap".

For Ruin something else I noticed is when Ruin is cleansed, all generators currently regressing instantly stop regressing. I think they should continue to regress at a normal speed (not the faster-than-normal regression) until gen-tapped and halted manually. It's not a huge deal, just seems weird if I chase a guy off a generator, (and ruin starts regressing it) ruin being cleansed suddenly makes the generator stop regressing even though nobody tapped it.

I agree with the gen kick regression. Honestly, the ability to just undo a kick by gently tapping the generator with zero backlash or requirement is incredibly annoying and doesn't even make sense.

Yeah, it's pretty silly to have to spend 2 seconds kicking it, just to have a survivor run up behind you as you run away to stop the regression with a quick little tap. Or, stop the regression during a chase for god's sakes.

It would be cool if every time a gen was kicked, it took longer to repair it like how waking people from sleep works with freddy. That way, survivors can actually use that new silent hill perk for something. They would have to be more considerate about which gens they fixed, too.
