I'm a rank 1 Wraith not a rank 1 Huntress or Nurse...
After playing a variety of killers I reached rank 1 on PlayStation but how is anyone supposed to learn another killer from the start when matched up with being a rank 1 killer?
There were discussions about changing this but like SWF balancing... now nothing

This has been my issue.
On PS4 I'm a Rank 1 killer and congratulations! I got to Rank 1 with Amanda my very first time, then it was difficult to learn any other killer at that Rank. I guess you just have to wait until Rank Reset to dampen the sting from getting your butt kicked the first few matches.

There was discussion about this from BHVR from community feedback.
Wasn't it something along the lines of having a ranking for each killer?
I wouldn't expect them all for example to be rank 20 if I were a rank 1 killer as most killers would be able to do well without using any of the killers abilities against beginners.
Perhaps batch matchmaking and MMR will address this but I haven't heard anything to suggest this? :\

I wouldn’t want to play Rank 20s with Leatherface or another killer I rarely play. Most of the game play correlates between killers. I don’t find it that difficult to pickup a new killer that I’d shoot myself in the rank foot in the hopes of getting cheese matches.

i've always thought matchmaking should take both rank and character level into account. that way if you're a higher rank but low level, you won't be totally screwed due to lack of perks, items, add ons, learning a new power, ect. but it puts you with high enough rank because you still know the basics like looping and mind games and such. basically rank has to do with general knowledge of the game while level has to do with what you have. maybe even go against people of similar rank but also level.
i dunno, im sure theres many problems with that form of matchmaking but its just my thought

Playing Wraith then playing Billy, Huntress or Nurse make them similar but also almost completely different.
I can understand Hag and Trapper being similar or Ghostface and Wraith.

I think as killer you shouldn't main anything until you have gotten decent at all of the killers so that you have a variety of options to play as when you are a rank 1 killer.

I could be wrong on this, but I thought they were tossing around the idea of separate killer ranks to solve this issue. Something I would like as well.
They could even do something like making it so none of your killer ranks could derank further than 10 ranks of your highest rank one or something like that so you'd never go extremely too far back to where you're bullying low ranks.

I personally feel each killer should have their own 20 ranks. Your rank progress would be determined by how many survivors you kill. The pip system would be removed and you would be risking whole ranks instead.
0-1 survivors: de-rank
2 survivors: safety
3 survivors: half rank
4 survivors: rank up
This system allows players to easily learn new killers without any hassle.

the devs spoke about this and do want to add this to the game however they said the issue is having every killer have their own rank would cause alot of people swapping killers that arent so different for easier games and so they want to find a way to kinda group killers together. i guess a good way to group them would be if the killers strength is anti-loop, chase, stealth, ranged, trap focused. or something like that anyway but even thats not perfect, personally i dont tend to have a massive issue with most killers whether that be wraith, trapper, legion etc. but if i was to try and play nurse or hag against the teams i verse i will struggle, its why im gonna hate the next tome with hag and whenever the nurse one happens

If you are playing as a new killer, you're going to try to learn them rather than dominate. Survivors have it easy enough anyways. Even the killer sided maps aren't bad for survivors. They're all indoor, and indoor maps have way closer pallet spawns than outdoor maps, save Ormond.

You're kind of just proving my point that the game is oriented to favor survivors.

If you got to r1 once, you can get there again. Just go into the game knowing youre going to get stomped. Who cares? No biggie
