Set Cosmetics

Hey Forum!

Nothing of massive value to share, but wanted to express my dismay and disappointment at the premise of "Set Cosmetics".

I've been playing this game for well over 3 years now, and can proudly say I've bought every single DLC, and a rather sizeable collection of cosmetics for the characters I play. I have no issues handing my money over to BHVR and coming back day after day for another session of getting my rear beaten black-and-blue by killers of questionable skill.

This recent change for cosmetics rubs me the wrong way though. One of my favourite things to do is to mix and match my cosmetics to creat my own personal look. This recent change forces players into an all-or-nothing choice, even if they may only want a certain piece. I understand you need funding to keep this game alive, but I truly feel this is the wrong direction to generate such revenue. Robbing players of choice and milking us for the extra 600 auric cells (again, I may only want 1 piece, at 400 cells) is simply not how you renew interest and sustain a community. I may not spend the 600 cells right away, but you can bet your bottom dollar I'll spend on other pieces.

I love this game, I really do. It's practically the only game I play, for at least 4 hours a day, might I add. I urge the devs to take a moment and hear their community. You may work on it every day, but as the end-users I'd dare say our opinions have value. Sadly, I can't justify a purchase for 1080 cells, if I can't wear it as I'd like. The same work went into the cosmetic, perhaps bundling it just may not have been the best idea.

Thanks for hearing me.

I agree. Part of the reason I buy an outfit is because I can make it my own. When I'm forced to wear it together, it loses its value.

BHVR says it’s so they can create more unique skins but I think they underestimate how much people like the whole customization part. But the real reason they are doing it is because set cosmetics are less effort to create since they don’t have to worry about clipping and they make more money since people are forced to buy the entire outfit instead of being able to choose a single piece.

All we can hope for is that sets don't become a common thing. Although, given how many we've gotten, I doubt it. Can't wait for the never stop slashing legion to be a set.

@PrincessPoop Don't get me wrong, I understand they need revenue. I just don't know that the bets way to generate it is by removing player choice, a key feature in a game designed around ever changing builds and metas. If any devs want to hear from me on alternative roots, I, like many other die-hard fans, would be delighted to take a crack at it. This is a wonderfully dedicated community and we all want to see the game flourish. Trust me, I plan on playing another few years AT LEAST. But I'd like to see these kinds of changes built on community feedback, rather than unilaterally decided with only revenue and content generation as factors in play. Extra skins sounds fun, don't get me wrong, but I'd rather wait a little longer and have the ability to choose, as a consumer, how I spend and on what. I love this new Nea skin, and BHVR would have gotten 800 cells from me, but I simply cannot justify the purchase with them

    A) being locked together

    B) spending on pants I don't care for.

Oh yeah don’t get me wrong I absolutely hate what they are doing. I was someone who defended the addition of a battlepass (and still do) but it just seems like they continue to add more and more ways to make the player spend more and get less.

Not exactly the healthiest changes of late. Personally, I love the battle pass. I'm a sucker for DBD, and will gladly spend on something I want. I just won't spend on things I don't want. It's about value, and choice is a string seller in terms of value. That comes from 4+ years of experience in sales environments based on convincing a consumer to go the extra mile. But what do I know as far as the devs are concerned 🤷

Ehi, just wanted to point out (if it's not clear) that set cosmetics will not completely replace "not set" cosmetics. They will be added alongside them. So you can expect both types of cosmetics to come in the future. They will not completely replace normal ones.

Just wanted to be sure this was clear. 👍️

Of course, I'm aware. It's still quite a shame however that they are blocking off certain cosmetics and preventing then from being customized. As stated, I'm a sucker for DbD, but I recognize the value of choice. I'd have to seriously consider it, but even if I could break then up after purchased together I'd be slightly more inclined to open the coin purse. But alas.

PS, nice to see a mod found my post. Keep up the good work, and assuming you even can, please pass along my feedback to the right people.

I think most of us understand that. We just dont want it to be a common thing. I'd still prefer like 80% of cosmetics be split up. And maybe about 20% as Sets. I dont want to see a lot of sets personally.

And even then, there's still going to be disappointment when there's a new set and we like the head, or bottoms, but can't use it with our other cosmetics. Just seems like a lose lose situation everytime.

I could see this as a very good middle ground, with the addition of being able to split them up. If you come out with a stellar or unique cosmetic set, I will GLADLY purchase it, assuming I can still mix and match. I feel an 80/20 ratio would still be healthy in that case, and wouldn't necessarily feel like a milking scheme.

That’s gonna be the biggest problem, they are definitely going to oversaturate the amount of sets vs mix/match, calling it now. Sets should remain a super rare occurrence.

I already heard there's gonna be like two killer set outfits in the Mid chapter patch. Like gross. Go away.
