Franklin's change was unnecessary and is now a griefing perk

My prediction is that Franklin's is going to be used just for griefing and being toxic. Just to piss off survivors. I don't think the perk itself is going to be much stronger tbh.

Besides the fact that survivors are already losing their addons no matter what while they earn less bloodpoints which they have to spend on much more polluted Bloodwebs.

Let's see, I personally predict it's going to be a pain in the ass to deal with this perk now. Was already annoying as hell when a random team mate stole your item without giving it back to you. But now it's going to be consumed during a chase and probably you can't even get it back in time whole being chased + getting slugged + being hooked + getting unhooked + running back to the spot.

Maybe you are right, it's just what I personally think is going to happen.

Franklin's isn't really toxic. It may suck losing your items as a survivor, but the perk exists as a way for Killers to remove items from play. It's useful for stopping the possibility of a key escape or removing med-kits early.

With items not being destroyed when they run out of charges, current Franklins is more an annoyance rather than an hindrance.

“Keys need to be nerfed cause there is literally no counterplay! Waaah waaah”

Personally, I think a much healthier option would have been to doable the item on hit for 60/90/120 seconds. Still takes the item out of play for a significant period without robbing people's items away. Nothing triggers me more than playing a white ward only to be denied anyways.

It is not more of a toxic perk than before. It is just actually useful against any items.

Btw survivors don't need items, if someone feels that this perk is toxic, then most likely because that person is in love with its items

Yeah I get weird angles with blinds even 90 degree ones but that only happens if you have a bit of your face out. If you directly face a wall and not angle your character you wont get blinded

I don’t even bring items all that often 🤷‍♂️

Yes! I know I'm going to try it out on Hag and see if I can make it a mainstay.

Same for me. I lose too many bringing them in so I find it better to just take ######### out of chests and be content with that.

I would have prefered if the perk just disabled the item for a long period and depleted 20% charge per hit, instead of forcing you to drop it or deleting it entirely...

The perk is already strong the way it is now, it doesn't need any kind of buff imo

I agree. I get they wanted to buff his perks but I really don’t think Franklin’s Demise needed a buff tbh.

If you really don't want your item to disappear (like if it's a key) just take a hit to drop the item yourself by pressing R/the console equivalent instead of getting it smacked out of your hand. Unless I'm misunderstanding something the Franklins mechanics won't apply to the item if you do that.

And if someone knocks an item out of your hand and just stands on the item for 90 seconds that's like... worse for them than camping. All the downsides of camping a hook with none of the upsides.

If they keep it like this, they need to make it so white wards work EVEN IF you drop the item.

    Why?

Because if someone has an event item and someone brings franklins to ######### with them, they will lose their item regardless of a white ward or not. Sounds disgusting.

"This is bullshit, the killer is being toxic by knocking my key/flashlight out of my hand so it disappears! How can i be tox...er...i mean how can i escape without my precious items!"

    Seriously dude? Get real

I agree. I literally see the kilelr standing right on top of the item (key, special item) waiting for it to disappear. Idk why they need to change this perk.

I thought the devs don't want to encourage griefing, toxicity, bad behaviour. Thought they said in one of the streams from 2k17 that they aim for a healthy state of the game.

And there's literally no counterplay. Especially with killer like trapper, onehit killer, deathslinger, S tier killer.

And seriously I am already so pissed from the thought on this feeling. I just have to imagine me running a confetti flashlight and the first killer is a deathslinger with franklins, waiting for it to disappear ...

Same could be said about Head-On and Object Of Obsession.

I think camping the item until it disappears is pretty scummy but the killer's effectively throwing the match doing that.

Already had a few killer using it in PTB and just camped it to annoy me lol

How was your experience with Franklin's so far?

Just set your items down if you’re able to notice it in time or deal with it. We all know items is not what make a survivor good so why does it matter? I agree white ward should apply to your last item held that I don’t have a problem with but if a killer dedicated an entire perk slot to get rid of your item or as some say “standing” on top of it to get rid of it then they should. They are a better perk short and wasting very precious time to camp 1 item that you could arguably get again from a chest or do gens to have the game done. By you standing around to get your item you aren’t doing anything productive and they are counting on that. Before item retention if you just left it before it was completely used up it would also be destroyed when using franklins like immediately. Also again “no counterplay” if you fear franklins so much then go to a gen or somewhere safe and drop your item since that’s literally been the counterplay since day one until this new buff comes out it’s the exact same counterplay.

Sorry for hijacking the thread but it is still on topic and saves me cluttering the forums with more new posts.

Does anyone know whether the items dropped time resets once picked back up? For example, I knock a key out of someone's hand and they pick it up a minute later and I knock it back to the floor, will this be reset back to 90 seconds or will time pause and it will still be at 30 seconds running concurrently with the time lost already?

Personally Franklin's Demise still technically does what it used to do.

It's just now more balanced towards the item change before the item change when you had no charges left Franklin's Demise would permanently destroy the item but due to the change it can't do that anymore this is just a new compensation.

It's fair enough that it doesn't matter when it's knocked out of your hand you still have a chance to get it back but now Franklin's isn't completely useless
