Just shows us again that devs have no clue
Chainsaw reving and holding at loops was a big big part of hillbillys mind game potential (watch curve montages of Billy mains on youtube).
This was essential to get the most curve downs with him. Adding this stupid cooldown by heating up in just a few seconds pretty much puts him down to an easy loopable M1 killer against good survivors.
Good survivors were already really difficult to curve on. You had to do many double backs while holding your chainsaw but now I don't think you can ever do that unless they get greedy af. And you have pretty much only 1 try, after that you will get into heat up.
Just shows how little the devs understand their own game, especially killers and playstyles on the higher end of the skill spectrum.

I didn't need to try the PTB but only to use my brain to predict how's going to be. And after testing the PTB and watching others doing it I was absolutly right with my prediction and can confirm to myself what I said

Jesus can we wait till the PTB, we have absolutely NO clue on how the new changes will work with him besides some words and a video. We have no clue what the basekit overheat is and we don’t know all the add-ons that were changed

Uh duuuh, they provided us with videos. I don't need more information to understand how it works and how it's going to be. I have enough game knowledge to make a logical conclusion, especially me as Hillbilly main I know exactly what his strengths and weaknesses are.
Despite that a PTB won't change anything, devs WILL NOT take feedback serious. Just see how much feedback they took from the nurse change PTB. Exactly, NOTHING. Hell, the devs even rub salt into the wound and made her cooldown even longer after the PTB.

Yup, as expected I literally knew that you were gonna mention nurse and the devs not caring about info cause so many people mention it. Let alone the fact that seeing a Nurse thread is as rare as me willingly completing almost anything, but Devs DO BLOODY CARE. NOT EVERY DEV TEAM IS THE SAME AND THEY HAVE SO MUCH TO DO AT ONCE. Just bloody wait and eventually Nurse will get changed again.
Yes you saw gameplay footage of literally Billy holding his chainsaw and hitting 1 survivor....not for “How long does it take while Billy is sprinting to overheat his saw” or “How many add-ons affect his saw’s Overheat”. You need to think away from all the negatives and look at all the positives. He still has almost everything that made Billy who he was, they didn’t just throw billy in the trash. And hell, recently Pyramid Head actually did change from the PTB through his perks and some of Cheryl’s perks, so there goes the “Devs don’t take feedback seriously” argument I am tired of hearing about.
YOU don’t know how strong a killer can be through a video, ONLY YOU can know how strong a killer can be by actually playing them.
Not trying to come off as rude but I swear almost every change that happens to a killer this argument is used and its starting to get really old

Thank you for this @Hoodied it explains things very well.
The Devs do know their own game, they know their game very well indeed. And yes, Billy will now require that little bit more skill to effectively manage his power - I personally don't see that as a bad thing at all. He's still going to be very strong and there's still going to be counterplay to him.

The best Billy mains (ohtofu for example) need 5+ seconds charging time to mindgame at a loop to even ATTEMPT a curve. But now you get a cooldown. What do you mean "more skill". You guys are 100% not better than ohtofu and 99% of the playerbase is not even remotely spending that much time in dbd and Billy. This is just a nerf and has nothing to do with skill anymore. A simple power cut off, that's what it is.

We saw from the vid that the base kit overheat cd is about 10-15s. That is enormous, and you simply don't understand how the killer works if you don't understand that.
You can also stop pretending that the devs listen to PTB feedback, because we have plenty of evidence that they don't.
Bottom line - we already know the devs aren't good at this game. This is another attestation to that. They nerfed the most balanced killer in the game, and gave a small sort of buff to one of the weakest killers, several years too late. They have demonstrated, once again, that they don't know what they're doing.
If I was this bad at my job, I wouldn't be employed. Must be nice to be a game balancer, especially when you can say ridiculous nonsense like "Clown is underrated" on camera.

Yeah we normally don't agree with a lot of things, glad we do here. Also that even people with completely different opinions on many topics (we for example) agreeing to this topics shows to me its truly a bad change

Oh yeah McLean confirmed that iri head will get changed. I WOULD be fine with that if they really would just touch this addon. But from the past actions of BHVR I know exactly that they will take this opportunity to butcher Huntress with it. Probably a side effect of dedicated servers. Since they can't fix hit detection they will just butcher her so noone plays her -> problem solved.

There's absolutely no reason to increase his skillcap even more. He's already a high skillcap killer.
Bad players won't benefit from him, and only very experienced billy mains can manage to do well.
But sure, they like to nerf killers to promote more skillful plays, but i haven't seem the same done to survivors yet.

Lul, why are killers always the ones who are forced to improve theirs skills. Currently survivors can just hold w and run from safe pallet to safe pallet, while the other survivors abuse the busted gen speeds and rinse through gens without the need to do a secondary objective, also lets not forget that they can join a swf and make all the easier. There is very little skill in that. How about survivors get slapped with the nerfs that force them to improve their skills for a change.

Even if Billys do feather the chainsaw to camp as one of their uses, removing that at the cost of the high skill portion of his kit (demonstrated in the video's in the thread I linked) simply isn't worth it.

Insta chainsaw is still the most busted thing in this game and as a survivor you couldn't even do 1 loop against a sweaty tryhard P3 russian billy because with the power of dedicated servers they insta down you around every corner.

Engravings are most of the time stronger at loop curbing. You probably were to greedy with pallets if you get curved on without engravings.

Iri heads and moris are 100% the most busted thing, not "insta saw" which already got nerfed. Besides the fact that versing Russians with high ping is not a Billy problem but a server problem.

you also refer to famous dbd players. Here's the kicker, after the nurse rework what happened to nurse? I dunno I still see her as the most powerful killer in the game if played right. Guess what, Billy will be just the same.

Basically this. I’m going to wait and see how a high level Billy performs before saying Billy is “ruined”. Just going off the dev notes, the only change is that Billy can no longer:
1) Camp indefinitely
2) Chainsaw across the map forever
3) “Mindgame” loops forever to get a curve
4) Hold their chainsaw behind juking survivors forever until they’re 100% sure they’ll land the hit

You are completely wrong. It isn't just ohtofu who needs that time,each person who attempts to flick/curve a loop NEEDS time to make 2,3 mindgames. If he doesn't have the time and saw overheats,he's punished. Curving in itself already requires alot of skill because you need to know EACH loop in the game,you need to know how much you need to flick ur mouse for each loop,you need to mindgame the survivor while holding the saw 99-ed,you need to keep the track of the survivor to make sure he hasn't left the loop. There's so much stuff you need to do,and it'll remove the more fun aspect of him. You need double engravings for that aswell,so you suffer longer charge time. If those addons still exist after the overheat mechanic,it's gonna be even worse due to longer charge time which could mean you have even less time to mindgame. You could run the addons to reduce overheating but then you don't have the speed engravings give you anymore. So I'm 100% sure,no more flickbillys will be around because you will just get 1 chance to attempt a curve and you won't even be able to do a mindgame probably. Then if you mess up,you get punished for around 13-15 seconds,and can only m1. So you will only see instasaw/crack billy endfury billys around(if crackbilly still exists then ofcourse).

It goes up very quickly without addons as seen in the video.
Could it be better with addons? Sure, however this now turns Billy into an addons reliant killer, which should be avoided. Every killer should be able to perform just fine without addons. But that's just not how it is currently.
Simply put, it was a nerf to his Base-kit. Pretty obvious. Don't know how people can be so narrow sighted.

That is wrong, nurse is a bugged mess and has nothing to do whether played right or not. The game decides whether you have your ability to blink throughout the entire match or not. The killer is bugged af and no fixes come to that, how many months has it been since the adjustments?
You know that is the part that is most frustrating about it, people who do not play the killer, who do not put in the time required to master it, argue some bs.

And for all you know there could be lower rarity addons now that make the curving possible in half the time it takes now.

I'm a killer main, and I'm glad that The Hillbilly's cooldown mechanic has been introduced. It's not hard to hold the chainsaw at an unsafe pallet, which is what the game is moving towards. I think this change is good for the health of the game as it means that The Hillbilly isn't the ever present threat in a chase that he used to be. I know it sounds like a survivor whine, but play against a good hillbilly and you see that most will be firing up and putting away the chainsaw mid chase as well as missing it with little reprecussions.

I didn’t say these threads are getting old I am saying that people stating devs don’t care is getting old. Its not always a thread title either, could be a comment, could be anything. Its getting really annoying that people seemingly just ignore changes that happened after a PTB from community demand and go after all the times devs didn’t change something.

But they've proven time and again that they either don't care or are completely incompetent, maybe both. They blatantly ignored TONS of feedback on Nurse and just pushed through the changes they had lined up anyway.
They continue to not fix game breaking Nurse bugs, not being able to blink a second time being the most painful of them all. These bugs have existed at minimum for MONTHS.
They continue to not fix the sound bug that results in survivors sometimes making no noise and getting iron will for free. Again, a months old bug.
Fog whisperers have revealed they gave feedback that Midwich's design was bad and exploitable by things like OoO, they didn't listen to any of it and several streamers have shown OoO is nearly uncatchable on that map.
And their dedicated servers continue to be poor with things like grabs cancelling, false hits, survivors seeing themselves get hit from a long distance away, survivors teleporting after being downed (I've seen a survivor fall off a rock when downed, followed, and they teleported back onto the rock after their animation ended)...
What can you call ignoring what is essentially a high ranking QA team of players (fog whisperers) on map design other than not caring? How can you call 80% of perks being worthless anything other than incompetent? The ONLY times that a game has the exact same meta (like survivor's perks for example) for years is if either the devs don't care or are so bad at balancing they can't recognize that changes need to happen.
There is good reason people are upset with the devs and dismissing legit criticism that has been proven to be true (the devs don't listen to feedback for example) does nothing to help.

Why are killers forced to change their play style, their build, their meta while all survivors have to do is run from one pallet, loop it once or twice, drop it and run to another and proceed to do the same while 3 gens already fly by.

Well no Offense, but when is it time for it to start to take more skill to play survivor? We always here this when killers get nerfed. The nerf is supposedly needed to increase the skillcap of playing with said killer, because there too dominating. But what about all the dominant SWFs teams and others that dominate killer? When does the ceiling for there skillcap get raised?
