If NOED is in a match...
Maybe show the number of dull totems remaining on the map, just like it shows the number of gens remaining to be done.

no

That would render NOED virtually useless so I don’t think that change would be good in the slightest. NOED is perfectly balanced as it is. If you feel like you face it a lot, start running Small Game. It’s so easy to counter.

I mostly play killer and don't use NOED, but I always see people complaining about it

Personally, I think that should be part of the game whether they have NOED or not. The risks of skipping totem stays the same that way since if it's only NOED games, everyone now can see when NOED is in play.

I agree, then it wouldn't render NOED useless like the guy above said

I mean, it still would. What’s the point of having a totem perk when all survivors know how many totems are standing? It’s already bad enough against people on mic, so this would just kill it completely. It’s not just NOED either, it would effect Devour Hope. Because more people would actively look for totems which would greatly decrease a killers chances of getting any use out of it.

No. The strength of NOED is that you don't always know that it is in play. Anything that indicates that it is present before it activates is a massive hit to a perk.
If to implement a totem counter it should be always present, not only when NOED is in play.
You also can use Small game for that. Run across the map with. It is very likely to activate at least once if there are totems left.

I'd just have the sound effect for breaking a dull totem become global. So the final bone collapsing sound will be heard by everyone signifying a dull totem being cleansed.
From there all you need to do is count.

That's true. It would also influence other totems.

I wouldn't want this by default, that's part of the fun of the game for me.
I would have no problem if it was combined with Small Game to show a totem counter on that but built into to the game? That would be a no from me, I quite like the element of surprise. Mind you, I'm always doing the totems (Inner Strength gamer), so NOED very rarely procs in any game that I am in - it's not a particularly difficult perk to outplay.

I wouldn't do that otherwise NOED would be too weak IMO. I'd just change NOED where it notifies the survivors they're exposed when the last gen is popped.

I used to want the same thing. I actually made a post last year saying that Small Game should come with a totem counter but I understand why that would be problematic. It would be like if a killer could see when somebody had DS or Unbreakable, it would just make those perks useless. This would be the same. Whenever I run Small Game, I always get the totems. No matter how big the map is. The range on level 3 is big enough that you can search the entire map without feeling like you’re wasting time. It’s definitely a great and extremely underrated perk.

Ooooh, I like this idea.
Solos get to know what's going on (killers too I suppose) and survivors have to take a risk to clear the totems with a "Hey killer, I'm over here!" bell.

Nope, I do not want to see them implement a base-game totem counter or global cleansing effect for dull totems.
If you want a totem counter, ask for one to be buffed into Small Game or Detective's Hunch. Sure SWF gets this kind of information for free, but they also get things like Kindred and Bond for free. For solo survivors to get this kind of benefit it should come at the cost of a perk slot, just like with those other perks.

Nice
Anyway I disagree with my own suggestion so if a mod wants this can be closed

Not quite. I mean we could do that. But what I'm suggesting isn't a directional thing.
Like everyone hears that a totem was broken, but unless you happen to be nearby you won't hear WHERE it was broken.
Maybe a ToTH buff could make it give a noise notification, but otherwise eh.

Another idea I saw for a totem counter was to have a shrine in the basement. You go down there, there's a table with a Candelabra candle holder thing. (Like what they use on Hanukkah)
5 candles start lit, representing the 5 totems. When a totem is cleansed, a candle is extinguished.
Bam, base-kit totem counter that isn't plastered onto the hud, and requires a survivor spend time to go into the basement to check it so they know if there's any totems left.
This is optional, but perhaps on the table there can be a skull next to the candle holder as an early warning the killer has NOED. However this would remove the "Always assume the killer has NOED, so do bones which makes the round last longer" part of the game, so that's why it's optional if NOED somehow still ends up being a problem.
