Why does ds give a 5 second stun?

There’s absolutely no counter to it...you could say “just don’t tunnel” but even if you don’t that’s 60 seconds of immortality ..especially at endgame (also I play killer and survivor 50/50) all of my survivor builds have ds on it every single time because I realize how powerful of a perk it is..especially paired with unbreakable or even with head on or dead hard (I don’t think those perks are overpowered) I just think ds paired with certain perks makes it overpowered

I believe the 5 seconds counts the time dropping the survivor. I think it's closer to 3 from when they can start moving. As far as don't tunnel. Yeah I think Ds needs further tweaks to make it a bit more fair.

I never deal with DS as a killer. Just don't go back to your hook and you're fine.

Second, it's a five second stun that no longer is affected by enduring so that the survivor gets a chance to get somewhere instead of just immediately being smacked back down. The perk is powerful for a reason, but whether or not it does anything is *entirely* in the hands of the killer.

Not always true. If it's down to two, gates powered but not open, and one saves the other from the hook. You down the rescuer as the other opens a gate and comes back. You STILL cant touch that survivor if its within 60 seconds. Regardless of tunneling. You could down them and wait, hoping they or the other doesnt have unbreakable. And you may get away with it. Or you may think it's been a minute, eat DS, and lose both to a heal and dead hard.

    This is just ONE example.

It does its job better than it used to, for anti tunneling, but it still needs adjustments.

I think it was originally a 3 second stun, but enduring countered that so they increased the stun to 5 seconds. They later nerfed enduring but left the 5 seconds stun, maybe because 3 seconds wasn't enough for the survivor to gain some distance.

Anyway, I think ds isn't that strong against Spirit and Wraith.

It was increased up to 5 seconds when enduring used to counter it. Then for no good reason, after the enduring nerf they left the same stun timer (I actually asked a dev about why the stun timer was never reverted, and he pretty much threw a bunch of excuses on how (for whatever reason) reverting the stun timer was never planned).

The ds user could get healed take a hit then save with bt then if not picked up get back up with unbreakable it’s a very very strong perk when used with swf to the point that it could be considered over powered

It’s what you get for being an absolute terrible person and tunnel the survivor who just wants to have fun. Doesn’t matter if you hooked another survivor before them, still a terrible person.

For the simple reason that with less time it would be useless.

you shouldn’t even be in that situation tbh just camp the hook

Bear in mind that it takes like 1-2s for you to get off the killer’s shoulder and start moving.

    It’s fine where it’s at

Then there is the argument of DS 5 seconds and Head On only 3 seconds?

I find you always get chased till downed if you head on, as for some reason killers don't like it. Lol

The other option for DS is to keep it at tier 1 time (40 secs from unhook) but add seconds onto tiers so tier 1 3 secs, tier 2 4 secs and tier 3 5 seconds?

when there 2 people left gates are 99% it not tunneling it being overpowered.

You're affected by the survivor with DS unhooking and repairing vital gens. This is what good survivors do with DS. If you propose giving out free unhooks and allowing potential 3 gens for late game to be destroyed, you are being affected by DS. If you waste time chasing the DS, you are affected by DS. What is the way to deal with that?
