Possibility for Survivor Passives?
With me playing Dead by Daylight for the past 1000 hours, one thing that I realized is that once you hit rank 50 on a survivor, You can choose the options to Prestige for slightly increased chance of rarer items and a new cosmetic. But I was thinking, Once you get P3 Lvl 50 on all Survivors, It suddenly become Cosmetic Simulator 20xx and doesn't feel unique to play survivor Because you have all perks, and 90% of items and addons. So I got to thinking on how to resolve this issue and thought of a way to make the survivor gameplay more interesting: Passives. The reason I choose to do a passive route was similar to how killers interact. Against certain killers, you know certain play styles have to be met/adapted to in order to escape. and playing as a killer grants a different power to make them unique. So here is list of ideas that I have for Survivors to make each survivor feel unique to play. And in regards to these passives, the passive gains strength the more a person would level up. I do understand that this is going to be an issue with alot of people who has P3, Lvl 50 each character, but the progression system for each survivor can be a rewarding push for newer players to continue to level up. Lastly before we get into the list I have created so far, these passives were created based on the lore that we were given in game and for the licensed survivors based on movie/game lore
(Note: This list is incomplete so it may not have all of the survivors. Also, some of the values care placeholder values for the time being)
And with that said, lets get into the passives:
Dwight Fairfield:
Cowardice - Dwight may be a leader at times, but he know when he has to run away, he runs away When initiated into a chase with the killer, Dwight has a 1%/1.5%/2% action speed to Vaulting and dropping pallets
Meg Thomas:
Athlete - Meg has an adept ability to running for long periods at a time, and has mastered the art of breathing. While running, Meg is able to recover from exhaustion while running at 25%/50%/75% at the normal rate.
Claudette Morel:
Scientific Method - Claudette is familiar with working with some technology and wonders if she can use the same skills elsewhere, When Claudette is working on a generator and competes a skill check, she gains a token up to 5 (great skill checks grant 2 tokens). With each token, she is able to have 1%/1.5%/2% bonus progression on Healing
Jake Park:
Off the Grid - Jake knows that people will try to catch him and that sometimes he has to rely on his environment in order to survive. Every 70/65/60 seconds, a woodland creature that was disturbed 8 meters near the killer will be revealed for 2 seconds. The Passive does not trigger if Jake is within the Killers Terror radius. or if the killer is undetectable
Nea Karlsson:
Tagged - Nea knows that her tag is iconic wherever she goes. May be good for everyday things. When performing any action (Cleansing, Repairing, Sabotaging, Opening Exit Gate, and Chest Searching), using the Active ability key will tag that objective for 10/15/20 seconds for all survivors to see. This ability has a 50 second cooldown
William "Bill" Overbeck:
Solitary - Bill has a tendency to always be the one to do a task only that he alone can do and will accept help at a price. When working on a generator alone. Bill receives a bonus 3%/4%/5% repair speed bonus, however when working with a 1 or more survivors, he alone will receive a -1.5%/-1%/0.5% penalty to repairing
David King:
Final Bell - David is not willing to go down without a fight and refuses to give up when it gets rough. Once Per trial, If David is on his death hook and gets attacked by the killer that would put him in the dying state, he will instead be afflicted with a bleed out effect for 15/30/45 seconds. David will have to mend for 8 seconds in order to not be put in the dying state. The bleeding effect will persist while in a chase
Laurie Strode:
Survival of the Fittest - Being that Laurie has been through a lot of hardship, she has to do what she must to survive. When Laurie Is within the terror radius of the killer and not in a chase for 10 second, pressing the Active ability button will cause a sound and visual notification to the killer farthest away from their current point. This passive can be used 1/2/3 times in a trial.
Ace Visconti:
Lucky Break - Ace always knew that he had lady luck on his side when the tough gets tough. If Ace is the last survivor in the trial, a golden key will appear somewhere on the map. the Aura of the key is revealed for 4/8/12 seconds. This key is able to open the hatch.
Feng Min:
Winning Streak - Feng Ming knows that when you are gaming, you have to do the same thing over and over again. And sometimes, it does pay off. When Feng is performing a skill check action, The great skill check area becomes bigger by 10/15/20% bigger every 6 skill checks. If a skill check is missed, the streak does restart.
Quentin Smith:
Adrenalin Shot - Quentin knew in order to beat Freddy, he had to bring him at his world to win . During the trial, Quentin is able to increase movement speed by 5%/10%/15% for 6 seconds by using the Active Ability Button while during a healing skill check on either himself or on an ally. This ability can be used once a trial
Detective Tapp:
Vengeful Instinct - The Death of an ally can put Tapp into a hunger for figuring out who was the one to end their life. If another survivor dies via mori or hook, Detective Tapp unlocks the potential to get an audio cue from looking in the direction of the killer. This Passive has a cool-down of 50/45/40 seconds.
Kate Denson:
Encore! - Kate always loved to put on a performance to a crowd and wants to make sure she spreads the love. While working on a generator for 60/50/40 seconds, Kate can use the Active Ability Button to give herself and allies working on the same generator a great skill check for the next skill check that appears.
Adam Francis:
Help Wanted - While Adam knew he was excelling in all of his school work, he knew that he needed to move away and take his knowledge to spread. Unlocks the potential to see a generator that a survivor has been working on for 7 seconds. If Adam works on the same generator as the other survivor, the Survivor receives a 5%/10%/15% repair speed bonus for 5 seconds
Jeff Johansen:
Artist Vision - Almost losing his eye sight mean that he had to start doing a little more listening to get by. When a generator is above 50% completion, the generator is quieter and he is able to here the footsteps of the killer 30%/40%/50% louder and is able to tell the direction that they are walking. This affect is active around generators that has been completed in an 12 Meter radius
Jane Romero:
Lead by example - Jane has always wanted other to make sure that anyone didn't go through the same things as she did. While Jane or an Ally is on the struggling phase of the hook, the struggling phase is slowed by 6%/12%/18%. The effect is doubled if Jane has reached the struggling phase while on the hook
Ashley J. Williams:
Ladies Man - Ashley has always had a thing for the ladies and almost prioritize them to show off. Whenever Ashley is performing either a Healing check on a female character or a repairing action with a female character, he receives a 10%/15%/20% action speed increase. If he is working with a male character, he does not receive the bonus.
Nancy Wheeler:
Novice Investigator - Nancy always had a thing for wanting to get more information that would provide useful for later. If Nancy is within 16 meters of the killer radius outside of a chase for 20 seconds, she gains a token , up to 2/3/4. Each token provides a trail from a killer from where they were 15/10/5 seconds ago. If the killer is affected by the undetectable/hidden status, the trail will not be shown. The aura can not be shown through obstacles or walls.
Steve Harrington:
Watchful Guardian - Steve kinda fell into the role of watching over others, so he knows that he can lead them. Using the Point towards button towards a survivor or generator within a 4 meter range will mark the survivor or generator. If the marked survivor enters a chase or the marked generator is kicked, it will highlight the marked target for 5/10/15 seconds and the mark expires. The effect is not affected by blindness and you can only mark 1 target at a time.
Yui Kimura:
Sakura 7 Sisterhood - Yui and her gang know that they have to be there for each other and be a family. When a female character is being healed by a female survivor, she grants the first survivor a 10/20/30% action speed bonus and the second survivor with a 5/10/15% action speed bonus.
I will Continue this list with the other survivors and update the thread once i have ideas. Let me know what you think of this concept and any suggestions/feedback would be much appreciated.

As interesting and fun that could be, survivor players will just find the most broken build on X survivor to break the game and cause a balancing mess.

Fair lol. My main worry for this idea is the balancing of this. Because when it come to the numbers and balancing of addons/perks/offerings/items , it would be a massive huddle to tackle

It would be a fun concept but very difficult to balance. The passives would have to be quite low power level wise.
Just by your example, Meg and ace are way more powerful than the rest. Aces would just be tunnelled every game due to potential keys.

Sounds cool, but the devs can barely balance killers, I would scared to imagine what damage they would cause.

Cool concepts and overall good ideas even if not balanced, but that would require some work and actual testing.
devs stated that they don’t want to implement something like this as of now though, and frankly most of this could be put into a perk. That should not hinder you to get more creative and expand your ideas here!

Survivors should have active abilities instead of passives.
