Soul gaurd nerf?
I'm a killer main and i find it ridiculous how unbalanced the perk is I mean its legit Unbreakable and Borrowed time but infinite, if you don't see a problem with this then you must be blind, I usually complain about perks but this one is a bit much

Just pick up the survivors. I thought Soul Guard would've been OP buts it's incredibly situational.
10 -
It’s only infinite as long a Hex totem is active. And it’s very situational.
4 -
True it is situational but lets say that you're a billy and just downed a survivor and you see another so you quickly go to take them out and bam the other one is back up in an instant
2 -
Lol so they used a perk to counter a broken strat that sounds fine to me
10 -
You can combine it with DS and unbreakable just to give more time plus why is it that if a survivor is cursed they get up? A streamer pair this up with other second chance perks and it pretty much allowed an escaped unless the killer tunnel until ds is gone.
2 -
It's not a broken strat There are plenty of ways to counter it and if you wanna see that as broken? then lets talk about how there are 4 swf with all decisive and loop everything and abuse all crutch perks now that is broken my friend
1 -
Lol and that can be countered by being a good billy who slugs. (Hence why they nerfed him so hard not that it was justified)
1 -
Decisive strike cant be counterd either way cause if u dont pick them up then the swf will be healed
0 -
It can be countered by just not tunneling its not like old DS where it just activates no matter what.
2 -
i agree that ds has become way better but lets say that exit gates are open and a survivor got rescued i am gonna try to get her back on the hook so how am i soupusde to do that with out her being healed or her knifing me in the back
0 -
If you're playing as Billy just go for someone else you have the power for it. Down the unhooker instead of the guy with DS
0 -
That a free escape due to Soul guard and DS. 60 second timer and a free mettle of man for being downed.
0 -
Not with the new overheat mechanic
0 -
You still have the ability to down the unhooker instead.
0 -
Not with ds being a 60 second timer. Unless the survivor use up the Ds it is free escape from the trial. Don't forget if they pair that up with Soul guard and unbreakable.
0 -
It's a wasted perk slot. After a week it was out and the novelty declined, I've never seen it again.
2 -
How does DS affect your ability to down the person who unhooked?
0 -
You can't hooked that person due to the timer of Ds. That a slug crawling to the exit they are closed to. Don't get me wrong soul guard is pretty much unbreakable mixed with mettle of man.
0 -
You can down the person who saved the person who has DS.
Soul Guard only lets you pick yourself up when the killer is running hex perks and you're cursed by it, the prerequisits for this perk to work seem fine imo.
0 -
What do you mean? Slugging, broken strat? What?
3 -
If they unhooked they don't have DS? Im talking about the person who does the unhook
0 -
Yeah slugging on Billy with infectious was almost uncounterable and the fact you think a perk that counters this very specific scenario is OP because it counters a strategy is funny lol
1 -
But what about when they have DS? That's 1 minute of invincibility and we're not gonna stick around that long for 1 survivor. So I guess in that situation, they get away for free. Devs not survivor biased btw.

It’s not OP in the slightest. I’ve encountered it once as a killer and that was during the first week of release. I very rarely see it as it’s an extremely situational perk.
3 -
True you can down then hook them. Now what if the unhooker get cocky and unhooked forcing a grabbed.

The reason that you are killer main is the main reason why you think soul guard is op. 6 second of borrowed time. You should know where you down surv if you down it with noed near gate then pick up surv and hook if it is far from gate then you have time to wait 6 sec to get surv down. That perk is few of the surv perk that is really nice balanced. Reward surv for thinking when to get up but not giving him much of a second chance. Much weaker perk then ds.
1 -
Soul Guard is fine the way it is. Don't want them to pick themselves up with Soul Guard? Don't bring a Hex totem and don't slug. Easy as that.
2 -
Soul guard only gives survivors infinite unbreakable if you have a hex perk. And rarely anyone runs hex perks these days so it makes the perk very situational. And besides just pick them up
1 -
It doesn't need nerfing at all. I rarely have it in my loadout but if I do I never get the chance to use it. I also almost never see it used by others. It's just too situational and a waste of perk slot and a lot of players have come to the same conclusion. Stop asking for pointless nerfs. It makes no sense.

It's mostly useful if you're with a group so they know not to cleanse and to keep the killer busy while they're on the ground.. I have a friend who uses that perk, and I saw the ruin totem so I told her where it was but didn't cleanse it, because she runs that perk.. But not very long later a rando cleansed it because he didn't know..

All comments from poster so far are always saying something like "yeah but in that specific situation..." which pretty much explains already that it is a "situational" perk and does not give max value every game. If you run slugging builds, you should be able no notice early enough that Soul Guard is in play and work around it. I saw one video where 2 people making extreme use of it because the killer simply didn't learn and allowed them to eat the dozens of extra hits.
To the Hex part: if a Hex is in play until endgame, you should have made enough use of it to be able to waste DS or kill people. Hexes are high risk and high reward. If it lasts until endgame and you did not get high value, you made something wrong. Beneath that, if you know about Souldguard and you have a Hex up, slugging people would be like slugging No Mither. Simply a bad idea. If you have a slugging build, I guess you have to adapt.

Don't know anyone who uses hex perks for slugging builds..and the only Hex I could see used for that is Third Seal (which no one but me uses, I've run into that one like five times in the year I've been playing, most of them against people trying adept hag)
0 -
From OP I would for example guess something like Billy with Ruin. Slug build doesn't necessarily mean that all 4 perks are focussed on slugging. Infectious on Billy or Oni would be slugging build enough. And those 2 (at least Billy) wouldn't even need Third seal as they don't primarily down with a base attack.
And "noone but me" isn't correct. I know some guy called Monto that pretty much spreaded this slugging approach
0 -
Oh? Haven't watched enough of Monto's videos.. I don't use Third Seal for slugging though. I use it for the fun of it (though it usually doesn't last very long in the match, but when it does, it's pretty good, especially if I can get everyone blind early on)
And yeah I guess I wouldn't build a slugging build around 4 perks only for that.. I mean aside from knockout and maybe deerstalker to find them again.. I guess one of the other two perks could indeed be a Hex
