Survivors should be locked too.

You can still change your loadout so...

Yeah lock survivors 20 sec before the match but lock there entire loadout , like this the killer can have time to switch perk
0 -
It is fair to apply the same rules for both sides.

What log issue?
0 -
wait, we cant change killers in new MMR?
any links to info on this new MMR?

Survivors can know wich killer they are going againt using logs
0 -
How? What? How long has has this been a thing
0 -
Since a quite long time , but recently some people have even program a "app" and make it public , survivors just have to juin the lobby and run the app , they try to match this in the silent hill update but failed miserably
0 -
Survivors have been using third party apps during the lobby for as long as Ive been playing since 2017
Theyve blocked killers by type, see what killer you run etc,...

At first I was all for locking survivors, but honestly it feels dirty to do so. Killers are getting treated dirty by this change which stops them from protecting themselves from third party apps, doesn't let them level up other killers and forces them to accept the killer they picked despite the their whims changing. It's dumb and feels like a bad change.
But the solution isn't to also give survivors the same crappy feeling. I don't know what the solution is, but sharing the pain isn't what I want.

I mostly agree with this, except I don't have Franklin's Demise on most of my killers (and Lightborn only on the one), so if I see a lobby with four flashlights and I'm locked into playing as a killer that can't counter that my only choice is to dodge.
0 -
I understand that. But all I'm seeing is them trying to get something they've been complaining about for years worked into this.
0 -
Why would you balance a game around an exploit, though? That makes no sense. I'm sure they intend to patch that out.
0 -
They probably intend to, but they tend to take quite a while to fix these issues. It could be 6 months before it actually gets fixed.
0 -
That has been a problem for years sense specific items hard counter specific killer and prevent item counter perks from ever working.
Its an old issue being brought into the spotlight by a change that would make it worse.
1 -
Instead of locking them the whole time thay are locked at 30s. Giveing killers time to prep and have a icon if the surivor has a key so we dont have to be Sherlock homes to see the dam item
0 -
Still, it doesn't make sense to balance your game around an exploit. The vast majority of people playing DBD probably have no clue that exploit even exists and I personally haven't gone up against a single squad as killer that had a suspiciously good loadout to counter me.

What is the title of the post ? i would like to read it

It's happened to me pretty frequently. I'll often see a lot of calm spirits if I use Doc as a decoy or at least one Object if I use Freddy.

Sorry I didn't mean my post as in a new thread, I meant my previous post as in reply.

I agree, make it fair all round. And I'm a survivor main.

Survivors should definitely be locked especially since they can check which Killer they will be facing when they are in the lobby.
0 -
You wanted to be able to have different ranks for different killers. To have that, the killer needs to be locked inside the lobby, otherwise for each switch the matchmaking system will have to restart the search.
Survivors do not need to be locked for the matchmaking to work, because changing their perks or items isn't a factor for finding a match.
So again: killers need to be locked for the new system to work, survivors do not need to be locked. As simple as that.

I don't agree with the sentiment of "survivor's power" being the ability to prep with each other in the lobby!
As survivors you are not supposed to be able to draw up a game plan with each other before or during the match. The game does not have it's own team chat for good reason.
The lore of the game (that gameplay is based around) clearly indicates that each survivor is alone until they are in a trial and alone until you find someone in a trial. You should not be able to coordinate perks or equipment or ever be able to speak to each other across a map! this is just entitlement.
If four survivors turn up with flashlights but no medkit or tool box we're supposed to deal with it or search for a chest and hope you get a different item. Sadly SWF with any form of teamchat is broken and clearly not part of the games functionality but is for some reason taken into consideration for in game mechanics when forming an argument for or against something.
I don't main either role, I play the shortest queue to get into a game a quick as possible. The only thing that puts me off about DBD is the wait times! So when I queue, I pick a killer or survivor and load out then I look for a game. When the game is found I hit ready. I don't change in either queue, I wait. If I'm playing, I want to play as many games as possible with the shortest wait for everyone involved.
I find that there is always a single survivor, in either lobby, that waits until the 5 second timer forces them into ready. Once you hit ready you are "ready", not unsure of what you are doing, not unsure of your perks and character you are ready.
No one should ever have been able to change anything once you have said you are ready because if you are ready you are in a suitable state for an action or situation; fully prepared (dictionary definition) .

Wait what lock when did this happen?
0 -
for christ sake, are they planningt o lock addons/killers and in the same time not to lock survs?
i dont even want to talk about balance or something this just means they are completly out of their mind
so if i join lobby and see bunch of friend with 2-4k hours each i wont be able even change addons/killers/perks because they will be locked ?
this sounds terrible
0 -
also sometimes in lobby i see as 3-4 survs at last seconds alltogether suddenly take flashlights.
0 -
this ^^ survivors are just reskin of each other. The only thing that really makes sense to be locked are items bc of keys. I'd suggest that they cant change the item once they've clicked ready while being in a lobby / the timer goes below 30s OR hope for a key/mori rework so that surv items do not influence the choice of perks/offerings for a killer (namely franklins/moris for keys).
Also, I dont know how much I can talk about how they check which killer it is, but here I go: it uses some information from the logfile. BHVR removed that part, but there are still informations about the skin that is used and therefor the program can determine which killer will be played. BHVR just needs to remove that info as well and it's fixed. I hope that this is going to be changed with the upcoming mm patch.
soon™
You can read about the changes here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/173606/news-matchmaking-update#latest
TL;DR: there will be matchmaking system for each killer, so you'll be matched based on your performance of each killer. If you main oni and do well with him, you'll get matched with better players. If you try out a new killer, you'll be matched against weaker opponents.

They can, at least lock Survivors at 30sec. So at least Killer can setup Perks/add-on based on their bring-in items.
This is also to prevent sudden 3 flash lights
1 -
I thought survivors can still check which killer they’ll be going against? I remember seeing a recent post about it, I’m trying to search for it but I don’t remember which subforum it was posted in.
0 -
Not to mention the dc ppl get replaced and get 0 bp
So the other 3 surrvivors can play normally
Bliss
1 -
Why? It's not like survs can see what you are bringing like the killer does. Just bc wah that's not fair? Please lol.
0 -
No they dont? Why is this hack being mentioned constantly? I've yet to meet a single surv that's doing this. Stop acting like every surv is doing this.

Thats the same thing people said when MGLA was doing Killer Block Lists by type... "no one is using this"
Sure thing, until devs had to step in and say "yeah, thats not cool, it exists" and banned MGLA, no idea on the current state, but back then when BBQ Billy came out, if you played him, you were put on the block list that was shared by a third party app and would indicate the killer you were versing was blocked.... hence leave lobby.
Sure it doesnt exist, just like MGLA d block lists didnt exist, until they existed lol
0 -
Mlga simply showed ping and if you had the killer blocked or not. You know, so they can dodge toxic players the same way killers dodge for whatever reason they like? It didnt show what killer you played, perks, profile. Just ping. Sorry but not the same thing at all.
0 -
I have never used it, but it was shown that it did more than just show you ping, this is years ago now so I do not know what it currently does, I have never used third party apps in this game.
Regardless, it does not change the substance of my post that "people deny things exist for sake of argument, until its proven they do in fact exist." We know these things exist, so deny it?
I just did a quick google search and was able to find youtube videos of players showing you how to find what killer you vs etc, to act as if this is not possible for sake of argument is simply silly. I wont go into the numerous ways this can be done.
Re: mgla: I specifically recall block lists by killer type, not gonna argue about it 3 years later, but if was blocking killers based on type, which the devs forced them to stop doing? Anyway, my poiint stands using the "no one runs this" argument is history repeating,
Listen to the devs about MLGA, it was removed from whitelist due to blocking killers by type. @ 1:00 I was literally on the Frdddy list and BBQ Billy list.

But how does that work for rank reset also doesn't that destroy ranks even further since survivors only have 1 rank and killers have to cycle through many ranks if you play multiple killers there wouldn't be enough survivors for the amount of new rank killers that'll appear sounds terrible
0 -
Honestly survivor loadout should be locked when there is only 25 or 20 seconds left this gives the killer enough time to adjust their build accordingly and prevents the last second switches.
0 -
there is still going to be 1 rank for killers, you'll just be matched with different (aka probably lower rank) surv. Currently ranks are not that important for the matchmaking, since survivors reach purple/red ranks within few hundred hours, who do not have the experience to be there (imo). It just states how much you play and just a tiny bit how good you are. A newb can be carried to red ranks by 3 good survivors, just do some gens, get some saves and you're guaranteed to get at least a black pip each game. After that its just a matter of time you invest to rank up.

Personally locking the killer makes a lot of sense for the MMR. It is a blessing to people that want to try a new killer or play a killer they are not as strong with. And it would keep someone from queuing as (e.g. clown) then last second switching to spirit so they can dominate brown rank noobs.
As for locking survivors I could care less, since I don't ready up for a lobby until I'm ready anyway. However... if survivors get locked then I say go all the way and don't show the lobby at all, if survivors can't switch up items and perks based on what they see in their team then killer shouldnt get to see the team and react at all either. It has never seemed fair that killer can see what they are up against but survivors can't without some illegal subterfuge. I'd love to bring a key in every once in a while without the certainty that I'm also bring Franklin's, a campground for the killer, and a mori

That really wouldn't work, given that the read countdown begins at 15/14 seconds. It needs to go straight to the offering screen, or lock perks. I don't really care if you can switch characters or cosmetics, but perks/add-ons/offerings should be locked on both sides once the lobby is entered, or just axe the lobby all together.
Besides, removing the lobby removes the glitch AND lobby dodging Killers. With the DC punishment in place, it should keep DC dodging to a minimum, too.
