There is no point in overheat mechanic
Rate of getting heat is so low and cooling speed is so fast you physically can't overheat. Point of overheat is to limit billy chainsaw usage right? It doesn't work right now

The point was not to facecamp with Billy, he has issues doing it now.
As you know the chainsaw bros were extremely good facecampers, both can't just hold their chainsaws up and get away with it.

devs literally said it was to limit him in dev notes

I'm gonna be honest, I've managed to overheat chainsaw several times XD

mad lad

Actually no they said it was to punish misuse of the chainsaw without disrupting his gameplay too much is what they actually said..and you should be grateful for that

That's because I love curving as Billy though xd
And I use it very often in 1vs1 situation, when I closed the hatch

I agree, but at least we've got double engravings back. That's enough for me to forget the uselessly gimmicky fake-heat mechanic.

This post is exactly why Billy will probably see some nerfs to the overheat numbers in the future.
The goal was to limit how easily a player could use billys power in quick succession.
Right now there's practically no change from his original form... which means a nerf is coming in order to achieve their stated goal.
Be ready for it.

Yes, and they also said they wanted the change to be as minimal and unimpactful as possible, because they consider him to be relatively perfect, so they simply removed his ability to facecamp and constantly chainsaw around wide open maps

Devs literally said
Keeping with the theme of everything chainsaws, The Hillbilly is also receiving some changes in this update. For the most part, we are happy with the way The Hillbilly performs. His power is very versatile, allowing him to quickly traverse the map, zone out Survivors and instantly down them. From a Survivor’s perspective, there is also a reasonable amount of counterplay, leading to interesting chases where the best player often comes out on top.
Keep in mind the. "We are happy with the way hillbilly performs." Then they realized they nerfed him too much, and they posted this:
We had originally mentioned that we were mostly happy with the way The Hillbilly played only wanted to add a small drawback. However, after watching people play on the PTB, it became apparent that the overheat mechanic was too strict, preventing people from using their chainsaw in interesting ways. This was never the intent, and as such, we are making a series of changes to ensure that your chainsaw is not overheating too quickly or frequently.
So for the most part, it sounds like they were already happy with how Billy was performing, so if they made overheating do too much then it nerfs him, which goes counter to what they already said which is, they are already happy with how he is performing. His overheat is there to do 2 things, prevent him from camping effectively and to punish billy when he makes too many mistakes with the chainsaw.

The overheat mechanic, in its current form, doesn’t bother me. The four or so addons do since I won’t be utilizing them.

good, overheat should only help against face camping and rev spam

You're missing an important entry in the patch notes themselves...
The Hillbilly
The Hillbilly has a versatile kit with traversal and double-damage effects as a part of his base power, leading this character to overperform compared to other Killers. These changes introduce a resource management aspect to place some limitations on access to his tools.

Can anyone say that overheat billy has less access to his tools than OG billy? In my opinion it doesn't appear so.

I think the main point though is that they twice over said that they were already previously happy with how hillbilly performed. If they change the overheat too much it goes against what they said. The purpose and end result of these changes is that hillbilly should continue to see the same usage and kill rates as before.

They're happy with his toolkit, not with his performance. That's why he's got nerfed

I mean he is still limited, you just have to (as they have said) "misuse" his power. Which clearly seems to be spamming it at a pallet, or keeping it ready to go at a moments notice at hooks. So yeah those are things he no longer has access to, as easily. As in, he is limited.
You could also argue that his add-ons being changed is a limiter on him, considering insta saw Billy is now either gone, or requires you to be a 110% killer. Again limited.

for all practical purposes, the overheat mechanic only serves to limit the amount of fun players who knowingly play inefficiently can have.
In essence: it was useless, and now Billy sounds ridiculous (to the point where I just find it funny to play against him, and even if the Billy was good, there's no way I would ever feel scared again of him XD). Leatherface is now very powerful, to the point of saying, "maybe this is too much?", but other than the good parts about Leatherface's changes, the entire update was atrocious. It was pushed out (apparently) by the marketing team who wanted to release cosmetics on a tight schedule, and the developers had already invested so much pointless time into changing something that wasn't requested before showing it to the playerbase, so they had no chance at trying something different to solve the issues people had with him (of which mine are still not solved cough animations cough).
I would much rather not be laughing at Billy and running loops to his silly music like it's a field day, but that's I guess what the devs want from me, and there's not much of anything I can do about that.

I think this statement proves you wrong:
For the most part, we are happy with the way The Hillbilly performs
They didn't say toolkit, they literally said they are already happy with how he performs "For the most part" which means he only needed a slight nerf, basically instasaw, which was removed, and making his power more punishing when you make multiple mistakes.
