Are Harassing PSN Messages Due to Face-Camping Normal?
Just finished a match. Killed 3 of 4 as Spirit. It's my second day playing and I'm at Killer Rank 16. Apparently I face-camped, which I didn't know was such a terrible thing. One guy sent me a message on PSN calling me a (insert homophobic slur), and another said I was a$$ (don't know if I can put it on the message board) and said I play like (insert homophobic slur).
Will this happen often? Is face-camping such a bad thing? I've had it work sometimes but not others. It seems like if they're slow to take generators out it's a good strategy, but I've also seen them hit the generators really quickly, in which case I give it up and try to stop them.
Thank you guys, enjoying the game a lot so far!

Yep, hatemail is very common on ps4, I got hatemail the second match when I played this game because I tunneled when I had no idea what it was, I still have that msg.
So to answer your question, yes if you are going to play killer, either set your msgs so no one can send you msgs or be ready for people to annoy you while you play.

It isn't, either abnormal to camp or to get idiotic messages from spoiled, entitled players, i.e. bad sports. Just ignore and hit upgrade and don't even bother looking at the after game chatter.

Turn off msgs and turn off anything they can do to send alerts in game like following.

Report them. Sony doesn't f*ck about with that stuff. And yeah I got hatemail for playing normally so messages and friend requests go off before playing killer now

tbh it's just better to set the profile to private (or how you call the "nobody can't send me anything" option). Sony moderation team is known to be awful, reporting a convo may cause you to get suspended.

Unfortunately ps4 can be an absolute barrel of toxic waste on DBD. Just ignore them or turn off messages if you want to ignore it entirely.
It's gotten to a point with me where i just laugh at them and stir the pot with them as they say.
If you do decide to reply, be VERY careful not to say anything that could let them report you as these people are that petty and will look for any way to get at you. Learned this the hard way

because most of the times it's not a real person checking the convo, rather an algorithm with a blacklist, if nothing gets detected you get banned for false report (well, you won't get banned for only 1 false report, but you got the point). Appealing for a ban is also useless, Sony won't respond, since Sony never makes mistakes apparently, so you're forced to take the L, even when you're right.

Reasons like that is why I prefer them to keep the cross play how it is instead of showing what platform they are on. Sadly no matter how you play there is usually always one person who complains and is toxic. Showing what platform you are on will just give those players the incentive to make spam accounts to message you on.

If you talk to a live rep they will simply just tell you they can't do anything so sadly this is true :/

Don't even worry about using the report function unless you're actively cursing back at the guy or something. I have almost 100 survivors blocked on PS4 due to them sending angry, hateful messages filled with racial and homophobic slurs. I've never once gotten in trouble for filing false reports or been counter banned. I just say, cool, blocked and then block/report. I make a mental note of the name of the person and if I remember it I facecamp/mori them with LF or force disconnect during loading and send them back to the queue
I would really love it if this game had an in-game block feature where you can block some toxic ######### from ever queueing in your lobby

Yeah, I guess. I have been sent a lot of insults for much less.

Report them and move on.
I mean we all prefer games without facecamping, but it happens sometimes. It's okay. You don't deserve that treatment.

I turned off messages from non-friends and I disabled friend requests (oh yes, you will get friend requests with angry messages attached). Life is better that way.
If you leave messages on, feel free to respond politely (without profanity or name calling) or totally ignore them, and certainly report them if they use profanity or any sort of slurs. Kids of all ages use Playstation, so Sony doesn't shrug that stuff off.
Really, though, I got hate mail for killing survivors and friend requests for not killing them. Both got annoying; having them turned off feels better. I enjoy knowing that survivors are stewing in their impotent rage after they screw up horribly and get sacrificed. (I never got messages from killers when playing survivor, so that's a non-issue. I did get messages from other survivors, though... usually because they were mad I didn't die trying to save them. Again, messages being turned off = good.)

Some of the salty messages sent as friend requests I just accepted. Then they forget who I was and invite me to swf 🥴

I got suspended once for 2 days for reporting a death threat, called sony support and they just told me that they wanted to check everything but didn't gave me a reason as to why I got suspended.

I've played PS4 and PC dbd and without a doubt the PS4 dbd community is much worse in terms of toxicity. Trust me it is normal.
Best thing to do is to turn off the option that makes it so you can receive messages from strangers.

That happened to my friend, he reported these really awful messages where the guy was swearing his head off and all my friend put was "please go away" (dude doesn't really know how ps4 works as he's new to it) and my friend was the one who ended up getting suspended for 3 days!
PS4 has the worse report system I have ever seen, unlike Steam and xbox where you get a warning and if you get banned unfairly, you can at least still appeal. Sony doesn't even give you that option. I swear it must be a bot that handles Sony's reporting system cause by god is it awful
