Dear BHVR, now more than ever survivors need a nerf.
Ever since crossplay has been added to dead by daylight the game has gotten so incredibly un-fun. I haven't been able to play a single game without getting bullied and getting zero kills because I'm going up against a four man swf on comp. I play console and matches were fine before this. And it would be a different story if you could turn it off and on but the option to do this doesn't work! So I'm stuck getting legacy survivors that have 10,000 hours in the game and do five gens in less than 3 minuets. Please remove the computer side of crossplay as it makes games for console players unwinnable and makes the game unbalanced.

How do you know you are versing SWF? Have you considered that the reason you are getting bullied may be due to your lack of skill?

Survivor main here.
I support nerfing survivors overall, but moreso SWF. Somehow. Let me know when you figure out the appropriate nerf.
34 -
Just rework OoO and fix SWF.
17 -
You can disable cross play, it just doesn't work if you're in the character select screen im pretty sure
12 -
You can figure it out based on how fast gens are done, whether or not you see survivors appear and try to take protection hots for somebody you're Ina chase with currently, if someone has OoO and another has sprintburst, how coordinated their entire team is, who their friends are on their profile, and what perks they're running.
6 -
I agree but the only thing that really needs to be changed is SWF, surivors in solo mode is fine and as a player on both sides i don't feel that something is wrong there
4 -
DS must also be changed
11 -
You can opt of cross-play? It doesn't work for you?
2 -
Oh yeah, let's just keep making survivors experience worse and worse more and more.
26 -
I say just implement a check box for the platform that you're willing to cross-play with.
However, I'm guessing the devs goal is to not divide the community in order to have faster match making queue
2 -
Why? You are mad that you can't tunnel no more?
17 -
Sounds to me like someone needs old Doc boy to prescribe them a treatment. Crying on the forums isn't going to make your games any easier, how about instead you try to improve and learn from your mistakes?
15 -
Wrong. I'm tosting survivors more than ever. You can turn off cross play by going into options from the main menu though. The reason you're having a problem is because there are different metas for different platforms
3 -
No! The perk needs to be changed because
1. The perk is active to long and can be easily abused
2. It can punish killers who play fairly and hook other survivors
5 -
Pfft! Like killer expirence isn't any worse than survivor expirence!
14 -
My Killer experience isnt worse than my Survivor Experience. But I am not that guy that opens a Thread in the Forums about losing a game and I am also not the guy who assumes that I play against 4 man SWFs constantly.
And I am pretty sure OP will also not play against 4 man SWFs constantly.
13 -
It should be changed as an anti-tunnel perk.
2 -
1. It lasts only 2 minutes each game at most, I'm sure a competent killer can ignore survivors 2 mins each in a trial without much effort.
2. Playing fair is not the intended counter to DS, there is nothing wrong with DS activating even if a killer "plays fair".
2 -
Why? More design restrictions will just make it harder to balance.
0 -
"design restrictions"
The function of that perk should be changed for an anti-tunnel benefit. That's the goal of that perk. Needs a change.
Do you think the DS is fine..?
3 -
I think added design restrictions would lead to more people being angry than before.
1 -
Could you define exactly what you mean by "design restrictions"?
2 -
what survivors need is more mechanics cuz the gameplay gets old , not nerfs
also i play solo and trust me its not easy 85% of the time
4 -
as a matter of fact you can turn it off and it works just fine, you gotta do it from the menu screen, like the general one where you choose which role youre gonna play, it doesnt let you change it if you already choose a role
0 -
Sorry to burst your bubble, but SWF should never and probably will never be changed due to player count. If someone's forced not to play with their friends, kiss the game goodbye at that point.
8 -
I think it may just be your skill.
1 -
I've gotten pretty much nothing but 4ks and move from rank 17 to rank 8 in literally a matter of days, get nothing but 3ks and 4ks.
I think it's time to evaluate your own ability level
4 -
That's laughably false. I've gotten plenty of gens done quickly while playing solos. I've dropped hooks in front of killers because I run saboteur and can see where the closest hook is. I body block for people all the time if I'm in the area and if I think it's worth taking the hit. U've made coordinated borrowed time saves from a basement with randos. You and your teammates just need to have good game awareness. You don't need to be in a SWF to do any of those things.
6 -
i play both sides , only 3-4k games ,and mostly die when playing survivor ,killer rank 3 now , please learn to play ...
2 -
I honestly feel that your either talking out of your ass, or you just don't have enough killer expirence to understand how BS DS is
2 -
Pal, I know how to play, and don't try to flex your rank on me I've been rank 1 for almost 2 months now. It's the fact that genspeed is still an issue even with toolboxes nerfed. If you need to run a perk because otherwise you have at least a fighting chance than your game isn't balanced. I should be able to play without perks on any killer and be able to win without needing pop goes the weasel so gens don't fly away in 2 minuets. Also, the killers that I play aren't what you would call balanced. I main The Wraith and play killers like Legion, Clown, and Trapper the most.
1 -
Nope. You cant nerf SWF without making solo even more unbearable.
4 -
I don't mean this to be rude but I think the problem may be more on your killer skill or playstyle. I've been dumping on PC players, survivor and killer just the same as console.
5 -
To say more than ever is a bit of a stretch. Let's not forget that back in the day, Sprint Burst had a 20 second cooldown and recharged while sprinting, double pallets were everywhere, infinites were actually infinites and not just a buzz word that gets thrown around for a strong-ish loop, you could self care faster than the killer could hit you, and Decisive Strike was always active no matter what.
That said, though, as other have mentioned, you can disable crossplay if you feel it's making the experience worse for you. We do not mean to force it on you. If you're in a lobby, the option will appear greyed out. If you head back to the main menu, you'll be able to untick the box and opt out.
64 -
When people refer to modern infinites, they are referring to loops that take such a large amount of time to negotiate, that it is effectively an infinite as it means an instant loss for the killer.
Sprint burst had a 20 second cooldown. Unbreakable and DS give you 60 seconds of invulnerability, so I don't think bringing up old broken survivor perks matters in relation to how absolutely broken they are today. The game is still not in a healthy state balance wise, and bringing up how utterly insanely badly designed it was in the past does not fix how badly designed it is in the present.
19 -
I agree with everything but the "strong-ish" loop part. If the killer is forced to vault the window, it's not "-ish".
2 -
When the point being made is that they're more powerful now than they've ever been before, it is absolutely fair to bring up the many, many examples (these only being a few) of how they were significantly stronger in the past. If you want to say that you still think they're too powerful, you can definitely just say "In my opinion, survivors are too strong right now" and that's totally fine, but exaggerating for effect doesn't make the argument any stronger.
52 -
exactly. promote this man.
12 -
Well said. 💜

Maybe this has been answered before but I am kind of new. Why don't you guys create two separate lobbies, casual and competitive. You have a problem in your game which is an enormous gap between competitive players and casual ones. There are a lot of examples out there: Dota 2, CSGO, LoL.. that just by the fact of creating this two options, without any specific tweak, people is more happy.
I get it, these "balance problems" are not experienced by the vast majority of the players, but you still have quite a lot of people that does experience them. Why don't you listen to them? Maybe you were waiting for mmr to have proper data. I do think mmr would have shown these problems some of us along with some strong streamers have been pointing out.
And yes, for what I have seen survivors were extremely powerful back in the day. Saying they are now stronger than ever is not correct.
6 -
No, survivors are fine.
1 -
I don't know about you, but legitimate infinites, as in the past, where it was literally impossible to catch up with the survivor, was insanely unbalanced. Giving survivors a maximum of 4 minutes of invulnerability for them to do whatever they want is also extremely unbalanced. Then to compound that, for some odd reason, the algorithm that determines tile strength doesn't take into account adjacent tiles, so you can get 5 minute loops on some maps, and you still even get double pallets albeit very rarely. So with all survivors running the meta perks, combined with one of these map layouts, survivors can get a good 9 minutes of free time. Then there's a plethora of maps that encourage survivors to use the strongest tool they have in their arsenal, their W key.
I wish there was a word to describe how unbalanced it is in the english language without using multiple adjectives, but there isn't. Not really an opinion, I mean I'm sure it looks fine on a spreadsheet, but when you actually play the game, most especially at the highest levels, things are a bit different.
There's probably a pretty good reason why the DBD population was up and down there before it got the covid injection. When you're gaining thousands of players and then losing thousands of players, there's probably a problem with player retention. A PvP game with good player retention is usually a game more favorably balanced towards higher skilled players.
8 -
I totally have to agree on that one.
I don't even understand why this discussion even have to exist people can just turn off cross-play any time they want.
2 -
What is DS?

I hate to tell you this but you probably go against more swf on console than computer. I've been watching and playing the game for nearly 3 years now. There are solo players at high rank that regularly play 'coordinated' with other solo players because they have the experience and don't care about dying so they take protection hits, distract, swarm the hook for a save, flashlight save, loop with OoO and heal each other up in a split second all without saying a word. The only sure way to know you're facing a SWF is to ask them or have played them before. Players with 1,000s of hours in the game are going to run into each other and many are friends although you can gamble that they are SWF if they are on each other's list and definitely if you queue up with them more than once. The problem as I see it with this game is that 4 highly experienced survivors will give 1 highly experienced killer a run for their money nearly every time. I play on console and PC and I do agree that PC players at higher ranks both killers and survivors tend to have played this game much longer and thus are more experienced on the whole. You may want to turn off crossplay and sink some more hours into the game.

Why would survivors need a nerf? They lose the majority of the games. Unless you have been playing for a year and are still a rank 20 facing new players then there's no reason to nerf survivors
1 -
Yeah sorry about this entire post, most times when I post it's because I got absolutely dunked on by a sweaty group of survivors, most times it's not even a SWF. Sorry if I did offend you in any way, I know that this game used to be incredibly unbalanced for killer and we currently pretty much have a cakewalk every match compared to what matches used to be. I have anger issues and sometimes it can be really hard to control them. This being said I do think that SWF does need a nerf, I understand that thinking of a way to do this is next to impossible because the number one strength of SWF, comms, you guys have no control of and can't do anything about it. So I'm sorry if while you were reading this you were thinking that the person that wrote this incredibly entitled and toxic because I'm not, or at least try not to be. I love this game so darn much and every single person who has ever helped design it, you guys are amazing game devs. While I'm replying to you, and I'm really really sorry if this seems like a jerk move, I would like to just like to say that you should add a login system to DbD where you have one overarching BHVR account which you can link to this account that saves all of your killers, cosmetics, teachables, and matchmaking info in the cloud so no matter if you have it for switch and PC you can keep everything you had on Switch and transfer it to console without spending another hundred dollars. Sorry if this entire comment seems entitled and like I think I'm the center of the universe and everything revolves around me, I just didn't know if I'd ever get to talk to a dev again and wanted to share that idea with you. Have a lovely day.

Disisive Strike, after you're unhooked, for 40/50/60 seconds of you get grabbed a skill check appears, hitting the skill check will make you escape from the killer's grasp and stun the killer. Can only be used once.
1 -
No, it’s not too fast. In fact the longer healing times has just encouraged rushing gens while injured.
If you have problems with survivors healing “too fast” then you have perks like Sloppy Butcher & Coulrophobia to deal with it.
