New survivor. New Killer. No new map?
Or have I just missed the info about it somewhere? I’m console so don’t have access to ptb.

I read somewhere there might be a sewer map but I don't want to get my hopes up.

No new maps, they're just updating the graphics heavily on old ones.
6 -
No new maps. The map team was busy updating the old ones.
4 -
Is this a chapter release or simply a " paragraph " as they call it?
0 -
Pretty sure its a chapter, as the only Paragraphs had only one character, and even at that the Ghostface one was considered a chapter with only having one.
3 -
It's considered to be Chapter 17. But this one doesn't have a map because that team had to upgrade the graphics on existing maps right now.

Couldn't they have just made a new map with the new graphics to show it off and just start branching off to fixing the old ones from there? Thats why i was confused why sh used the old graphics when the new ones were so far in development.

I don't know. I don't work for BHVR to know their decision making process, resources, or resource allocations.

Especially when the new graphics were so far along in development im surprised ph and his map didnt already use the newer graphics (or at least better ones).

Well, my previous post being the disclaimer, I personally feel that they're behind on things announced in the anniversary stream and the decision makers want it out the door. So, no new map, get the graphics into the game. Launch MMR (obviously) before it was ready. Get it into the game. Launch the PTB, even though the build on it is not the current build and even McClean would not play it on his stream because the build on PTB is too frustrating to play in comparison to the build they have internally but did not have time to put on PTB at reopening. Launch crossplay, even though consoles are having major FPS issues since the last patch.
And so forth. I feel like right now the leadership is forcing it out the door and hoping it works good enough. But we see with MMR how that can backfire.

We don’t need a new “anything” for a good long while. What we need is a new game engine that is optimized for console and PC and abandons the many bugs the current game has.

There's like one big bug and it's hilarious.

I think they're taking a step in the right direction by not introducing a new map and instead going over some of the old maps and reducing the map sizes.
3 -
The map sizes are already reduced enough. The only one that feels really wide is Red Forest, but that's not even too bad when you consider it's only one layer unlike Midwich which has more vertical space. If they reduce the average map anymore survivors won't have enough space to hide. The auditory tracking alone would be too easy.
They really should add a new map. The only things the old maps need now are things like a few more crow spawns and that's it. A new map would be exciting for the old guard players and it would be good to use the lessons learned in the last few maps to apply here.
We had Dead Dawg and I think everyone agrees it's one of the best maps to come out for both sides. The breakable walls feature being used extensively, the totem spots were interesting, the use of bushes became paramount for survivor yet subtle, the vertical generators were close to the center while the difficult to capture gens were on the periphery- those all made for an interesting and balanced map. Then there was Midwich, which I think confused a lot of players in its function and made gates stressful on purpose for survivor but predictable and a saving grace for killers. These two maps did however prove that each map is getting better at crafting lore and ambiance into the setting when compared to the earliest maps. The details are stunning or sometimes creepy but always compelling. The exit gates to Dead Dawg come to mind as well as basically every part of Midwich.
A new map alone could do its part to revitalize the game for old players.

I mean I really enjoy Dead Dawg from both sides but I've seen someone complain about it nearly everytime it comes through the rotation, so I've no clue what the reception of it is in general.
1 -
Interesting. I've never heard anyone complain about it, but there are something like 40k players at height iirc and I would guess three times as many that have played regularly since that map was released.
0 -
Really no complaints? Ive seen it complained about on the same level as Haddonfield or The Game, but split among both sides.
0 -
Not a single one. When I talk about how much I love the map usually people agree in the after game chat, even if they were taking a verbal dump on me beforehand. Haddonfield is only hard for killers, I've never seen it complained about by survivors. Same with Badham. The Game is the reverse- it's the one map I think everyone knows is hard for survivors. It's hard for new killers because it's not intuitive where the steps are but for stealth characters it is a dream.
I play a lot of killer though so I hear most feedback coming from survivors rather than killer mains.
1 -
Well Curtain Call had a killer and survivor but no map (which I'm still a little upset about because a whole carnival map would rock) so it isn't really a new thing for there to be no map.
0 -
I play about 60% killer 40% survivor, and if I get it while playing Doctor,Slinger,Huntress,Clown or Wraith I usually get one person complaining 'I got carried by map rng' and when I get that map as survivor I've seen a lot of killers complain, that its Ormond lite, both of which complaints I dont see the reasoning for.
0 -
Fine by me. I'm not a fan of all these more recent maps.
0 -
Did Father Campbell chapel not come with Curtain Call? I know its linked to the nurse's lore but did it not release with that chapter?
0 -
Maybe because (like Ormond) the killer is exposed which makes sense given that it's for a low terror radius killer like Deathslinger who the devs probably predicted would be meta-running Monitor and Abuse. It's hard as a stealth character but that's not a short coming I think. Just have to be careful and less predictable when traversing inside buildings and leaving them so survivors can't keep a pulse.
As far as "map rng"- that could mean anything though. Totems being not where they thought they were, hatch spawning somewhere unexpected or far, or things like that. Could happen on any map.

" I'm not a fan of all these more recent maps."
Why would you not be? You like staring at cornfields? Are you from Indiana by chance?
0 -
A lot of people were complaining that the map is killer sided because of how small it is. I personally think the map isn't anything sided.
2 -
Actually the 3 original realms are all my favorites. These more recent maps have all been pretty bad imo. Midwich, Sanctum, Dead Dawg, Hawkins. Been a long time since we got a nice map actually.

Wish i could say that, the 3 og are the ones i hate the most.

My thought on it is that Maps are played on by anyone in game whether they purchased the chapter or not so they really aren't part of the "chapter" but rather part of the Patch. Paragraphs were just a single new character introduced to the game.
This patch will be adding updated Gens, Chests, Lockers and essentially 7 full map updates (all 5 Badham variants and Both Yamaoka maps) Realistically they could remove the variants to Badham since they're all super similar anyway but that still leaves three full map updates along with utilities that appear on every map with updated animations for them. Not to mention updates to broken pallet and wall debris.
My hope is with each chapter and midchapter patch they update another realm or two along with giving us some new maps along the way.

The only exception as someone noted is The Ghostface which imo is still a Paragraph.
0 -
I agree completely. The newer maps are more fun all around and full of flavor.
0 -
The graphic updates in other maps make up for that.
0 -
I wish they did new map for dlc and had the graphic updates be part of a mid-patch update.
1 -
No it doesn't.
0 -
It kinda does though. They probably didnt add a map to this chapter cause they were to busy updating the old ones.
0 -
Updates were probably a long time coming. Steady improvements. bm33 is right, it should be an update type deal, not an excuse to deliver less real content.

there was some leaks and pictures (real) about a "Zoo" Map,but i don't know what a zoo map has to do with the blight or the new survivor, maybe the next chapter is going to have a zoo map?
