Rework Idea for Dying Light

An idea I came up with to change Dying Light's mechanics to make it more powerful, yet keep it's core the same:

You become obsessed with one survivor.

Whenever you hook the Obsession, the perk activates for 180 Seconds. Hooking the Obsession depletes all tokens. Whenever you hook a survivor other than the Obsession while the perk is active, gain a token.

While the perk is active, survivors have a 6% speed penalty to all actions, plus an additional 2/3/4% for each token.

The Killer can only be obsessed with one survivor at a time.

This would re-introduce the idea of making Dying Light a perk where you want to go after the obsession, but does not encourage tunneling. It also accounts for perks light Furtive Chase and Nemesis; hooking numerous obsessions would give you the base 6% speed penalty, but nothing more.

Let me know what you all think! :)

I'd rather it just not give a buff to the obsession for no reason, it'd be mediocre but it'd be better than the trash it is now.

I'm not against a 2nd rework but some perks are just doomed to be irrelevant with how many there are in the game.

I agree that with the direction the devs took Dying Light the buff for the obsession seems like an necessary de-buff for the killer.

I however think this perk could be a really interesting snowball perk if tweaked :) I also wanted my rework to go back to the perk's roots and encourage more gameplay towards targeting the obsession rather than avoiding them (without giving incentive to tunnel of course)

I don't know about this rework you are mentioning maybe, it still seems like it'd suffer from the same problem this current version of dying light suffers from.

When it gets going, the game is already almost over, maybe make it to where it buffs the killer instead like giving the killer some kind of action speed buff or make it activate a entity blocker on pallets the killer chooses after he hooks the obsession he gets a token and he can use it on a pallet with the interaction button since they introduced entity blockers on pallets with the new hex perk that came with the new killer, of course give it a cooldown so the killer can't just tunnel the obsession to get more tokens.

Uhh this looks like a nerf to me.. Dying Light lasts the entire game currently and can stack like crazy if you use Nemesis. With your rework, you'd only have 3 minutes to get a little regression and then it disappears.

Dying Light deactivates when the obsession is dead, although it can re-activate if a new one is created.

The idea behind this perk is to build stacks from hooking non-obsessions so when you do hook the obsession the slow debuff is stronger. It works multiple times throughout the match.

That being said, it is kinda meh. Better than the current one but only because of the healing speed increase imo. Without that Dying Light would be a pretty good slowdown perk.

Current dying light can always remain active up to 11 stacks if you play your cards right even without Nemesis. Just slug the obsession and you're good to go.

nah, fam. Yours is just okay. I want:

Every survivor further away than 28/26/24 meters from the Obsession suffers from a 19/22/25% speed penalty on all applicable actions. The Obsession performs altruistic actions 42/46/50% faster.

It encourages The Obsession to find survivors (other survivors can use the Whispers technique to find Obsession) and encourages the killer to push the Obsession away from other survivors (giving rise to the special killer-survivor Obsession interaction that is (or at least should be) the keystone of the Obsession mechanic). It also creates good synergy with PWYF.

This is true to the core of Dying Light.
