The Claudette Skin: Design Compromised
Now this is just really sad. And I feel really bad for Nohequin's vision. You hold a design contest, pick a winner, then alter the design to the point it's nearly unrecognizable, and do a really poor job at it as well.
This is unprofessional.
Let's look at the original, winning design:
We've got a few selling points:
Hoodie w/ a G / Hiphop design character on back.
Dyed hair, hoodie.
G String, low sweat pants.
Now here's what BHVR came up with:
They added/removed:
Earrings, not present in winning design;
Heart necklace, not present in winning design,
removed low sweatpants, CHANGED design on back of hoodie,
no hoodie over her head.
And the best part of this all:
This is so amateuristic it won't sell. What will happen is it's will be put in a battle pass with other cool stuff so we kinda just get this for free, because we have to.
I want to add I understand it's BHVR's property change it as they wish, and they're not legally bound to give the creator what they want. But if you're changing it this much, just don't even hold a design contest.
Lost my credit. I strongly discourage future artists to not waste time on their """"contests"""".

The design contest is to be inspired by. They don't have to mimic every detail that you put into the contest. There were some differences with the Clown skin, not so much with Feng though.
Anywho, I only wish they would have had the hoody over claudette hair like the artist. I don't care if it had to be a set.

The point is it's so different it might as well be a completely new design, that makes the point of hosting a contest void.
And while this is my opinion, I personally don't think this design is up to standard.

I was not happy with this skin being selected to begin with in the first place, and they made it worse, but I don't mind the thong.

its called concept art. That’s why you see Claud with no hood on, hood on, beanie on. Earrings and necklace offend you?
why not just say you really really wanted to see a G string on a video game character? Maybe BHVR feels women aren’t objects? Maybe they felt like not putting putting a face on the back of the sweater for what should be obvious reasons?

I prefer the original artist's design tbh. The in-game version looks kinda ugly imo. It also sucks that the hood isn't up...

I actually like what they did to it, I disliked the winning design and would never buy/use that. This however is a pretty design imo. They do have the right to change stuff about the initial design so I'm not surprised they did since there are a lot of people who dislike the original. Although it feels strange that they went out and about to change loads of things about it and not just pick another winner....

It seems like most of the primary details are being kept as-is. The design on the back of the hoodie seems the most obvious change, but I can understand that. Honestly I'm glad we didn't get the thong, it always made me kinda uncomfortable. I'm more bothered by the fact she's not wearing socks; she's gonna get major blisters.

lets be honest the design wasnt nothing out of this world so i doubt anyone will lose sleep over it; Hopefully they dont butcher the legion skin

What did they do to her design??? Unless they personally went to the artist and together they made changes? I know some of us wasn't fan of the thong, myself included, just because I just felt DBD didn't need to see women going around chewing cloth on this game lol. BUT. That been said if BHVR are going to choose someones design, please make it like the original design! It looks bad, I feel bad too for the artist, if BHVR messed with the design of mine that had won and they re changed it, I would request it be taken down. So yes some of us didn't like the thong, but heck if you are gonna choose someones design make it least look like it!

For me it's the complete opposite, they picked their design as a winner being fully aware of the design on the back and the thong. If these were actual roadblocks, they'd have picked someone else.

To be surprised what people notice as somebody who mains Feng Min I immediately noticed changed her nail colour.
When you have the Phoenix Polo on or the victory Polo her nails would be golden a lot of people who played Min noticed that they got changed to blue randomly.
Hell a decent the amount of people were annoyed Jane and Min's hair colour changed from the Greek Legends trailer to in game with Jane having blonde hair in the trailer and Min having black place to both of them getting brown hair
However on this stand point I do think if you're running a cosmetic contest and you choose a winning design you should keep to the design

I agree. Why choose a winner and then completely change all of the little details they added, they didn't do this with the last two skins.

I mean, i'm glad they cut the thong but i hated the necklace, and wish the hoodie had a more orange-ish color but besides that i loved it!

players hated the sets, they made this claudette skin like that so it's not a set. If it ended as set players would still complain

I feel like I'm making it set said would have been a bad idea not because of complaining but because it's probably not with the initial designer designer of the cosmetic wanted.
If we ever have a cosmetic contest next year maybe if people want set they could personally request that when they're doing the design work but I feel like unless that specified it shouldn't just be linked at random

The biggest reason why this design looks so different & underwhelming is because it's put on Claudette's actual character model. Like, I don't know if you stopped and looked, but Claudette is not nearly as sexy as the model shown in the concept art. This actually changes... a lot.
Like, for example, her clothes wouldn't fit the same, because Claudette does not have the hips to support a low slung pair of sweatpants & a thong like that. She doesn't have a tapered waist, so her sports bra fits differently. Her hair isn't as full as the drawing, so it looks different. The drawing has lighter skin, so the colors have a different contrast. Claudette hunches over and so in game she's going to look even more different. The drawing's face is cuter, so by default, she looks a lot better in her outfit.
Though the ankles of those sweatpants look dorky as hell, which is kind of signature Claudette style so I'll give it a pass, but they do look really flippin' dorky.

I think that is out of order to say, the designer put in their cosmetic for a chance of winning and they did, so it isn't for everyones taste/liking, isn't very nice to say, can knock ones confidence, they made an effort, posted their drawing/art work so maybe think it but don't say it because that ain't cool.

Uhm, so okay i wasn't too crazy of the thong, for reasons said earlier, but uh......so what if she is a botanist? think scientest or docs come home and can't put on something sexy or comfy or do they have to stay in their work attire? -.-

Honestly as an artist myself, I find it a bit insulting to the original design.
With that being said, no one knows if (for the obvious reasons) they may have contacted the artist themselves and talked about the alterations.
I do wonder why they would pick a design which obviously doesn't fit what they want if they are going to make changes to it. While I am sure the artist is still greatful they were picked, I think one of the coolest parts about it is being able to say "this was my design".

On the point concerning the original design, it's quite clearly listed in the rules that BHVR may adapt or modify the submission - so by entering the competition, that rule was agreed to straight away.
The winning design is incredible, and it's been adapted to suit/fit the character it's intended for and to work within the game.

Understands the adapt/modify but the design given is nothing much like the original artist, why was this artists design subject to change when no one else had been?

Again i am going with, just because she is "typed" doesn't mean she can't look sexy, yes her form isn't as curvalicious but the clothes can and could still work for Claud, her hair isn't as "full" neither is mine all the time, but it's just a game, different hair styles, Claud doesn't have a blonde afro but i sure as hell would love one for her. It's nice and good to see the characters least wearing different things, to be seen as something more then what we deem or their lore is about.

I like BHVR version better, it fits Claudette character way more than the original design, especially the thong showing thing.

Eh... I just don't like the fact that the took a skin that is obviously inspired by a fashion trend from the early 2000s, and they threw out everything that was 2000s about it.
