Can I Get Some Advice For Trapper?
I love playing Trapper, but I kinda suck with him. My biggest problem is that I am unable to get traps out in time. I either don't get out enough and am basically just a m1 killer, Or I get out enough but lose a few gens. I've been using corrupt a lot as of late but I don't wanna become too reliant on it. What should I do? Is it better to lose one or should I hold off on it? I've only been playing him for a week and wanna get better.

1) Pick 3 gens that are close to each other
2) Push any survivors away from these gens
3) Trap the loops within close proximity to the 3 gens.
4) Play as normal, but push survivors away from the 3 gen you picked out unless they are the only 3 remaining, then you can chase and get survivors trapped.
People probably had success playing him differently and frankly forcing a 3 gen is kinda boring but that’s the only way I found to play him effectively.

My generic trapper build is Corrupt, Ruin, Pop, STBFL. Use corrupt, it’s okay :)
Practice not setting basic traps (trapping a pallet for example). Look for loops and imagine which way you’d path and trap that area, preferably with grass. Trap narrow paths (between a rock and a tree, for example).

I'll try that out, thanks!

Will do, that build sounds fun!

Oops made a mistake. That was pre ruin nerf. Always forget. I’ve been running Corrupt, Ruin, BBQ and STBFL. You can run pop as a backup to ruin if you wanted, but eh. You can swap BBQ out for brutal or something. I’ve just been running a lot of bbq lately for the bp (I forget to even check for survivors most of the time lol)

Thats true, perhaps I'll substitute ruin for nurses. Or haunting grounds. I like bbq but just prefer nurses from a tracking standpoint.

Use a bag and the addons that increase trap setting speed. Put 1 or 2 traps down then look for survivors. Put traps down/collect traps WHILE your chasing. This ones fun.
The other way is to 3 gen and puts traps down on every way in and out of that area and on the loops. This is time consuming, youll likely lose 3 gens setting up, but if youre good at trap placement its very deadly and very difficult for survivors to combat. You can/will still lose of course and its not good for pips, but it can be effective.
I hate corrupt personally. My build is bbq, pop, enduring and brutal.

I'm honestly shocked bags aren't base kit. I'll try your strategies, thanks!

Theres also another way, though this way is mean and youll get a lot of hate mail, basement trapper. Agitation, iron grasp are your friends for this

I won't go out of my way for it but if an opportunity opens up I'll try it out.

Corrupt Intervention does really help Trapper a lot. What I do is look at the routes I take as survivor and apply traps to those areas when I'm playing Trapper. You can get people put down really well even away from generators if you know the travel routes they take.
Or just run Iridescent stone and purple bag, trap all major buildings and watch the survivors suffer.

less obvious traps are key, trap the far side of the loop not the pallet side. A grassy patch in a common throughfare that survivors will use when not in chase. Trap near a hook then hang a survivor there not the other way around.
Don't set to many at the start. I used to lose a lot of time trying to lay out a web of traps kinda like hag. But now I put probably two at most in spots I typically have success with and then start hunting. Try and keep a trap handy for chases, just faking a placement is often enough for a survivor to abandon a strong loop and get you a hit.
If you get a basement in the shack don't break the god pallet straight away, that sucker will let you lock the basement down in a way that totally bones any rescuers. You'll get a lot of salt but basement trapper is a beast once that pallet goes down and you trap the vault.
I used to run corruption but I don't much anymore (not to say its bad). These days I run thana, sloppy, bbq and pop.
That way even if you drop a random trap on the other side of the map and can't get back to it in time you get thana value out of wounding someone with it.
I usually smack a survivor to apply sloppy rather than pick them up from a trap.
Common mistakes I used to make was trapping to close to windows so that the vault animation cleared the trap. Trapping the middle of pallets, you want to trap just near the edge of it if possible.
You'd be surprised how many survivors step in the same trap over and over again. Typically its better to just reset a trap or move it slightly than pick up and try a new area. Also you can't step in your own traps till you walk off them so reset the trap before picking up that survivor you'll be fine and waste less time. Works great when folks run up behind for the flashlight save and get trapped :)

Agitation, iron grasp, play with your food, and whatever else you feel like. Put them in the basement and trap away. Ended several games with just a hit or two and 3 or 4ks.

Out of interest, why do you decide to play with 3 Perks? Or 2 Perks, once Corrupt ran out?
@Topic:
Pretty important - you will not have the option to play Trapper AND finish the game with 5 Gens. It is not possible. So if you do your Setup, you should expect two or even three Gens being done at this point. But that is ok as Trapper, because at least you should have your Traps ready.
Personally, during my Corrupt Intervention, I only do Traps. Even if I see a Survivor, I just chase them away and continue placing Traps, as good as possible. Trapper is a Killer for Mid and Endgame, you want to be prepared for this.
Good thing to do - decide on an Area and trap it up. Dont spread your Traps too much, this makes it harder to re-use them, because you spend so much time walking around.

For whatever reason, people I'm getting matched with in purple ranks just won't touch gens until corrupt intervention is gone. I've even found people hiding near my corrupt gens which is hilarious to me. I just walk around setting up traps inside the grass at loops for the first couple minutes of the game and they barely touch gens, it's great.

Double bag add ons maybe over kill but I tend to have more of a web of traps with it. A trap on the corner of shack where there is grass helps because survivors tend to run the shack very tight and can get easier traps on them. I'm love shadowborn even if people say not use it but I would look at Otz for trapper tips and maybe throw you own flavor with him. I used to think trapper was not good but came to realize it you play him like your playing a RTS he can be one of the most fun killers.

This happens to me a lot too, I often find I take up a whole perk slot for maybe two hooks as survivors just stealth out till corrupt is gone. Its why I stopped using it I find I get better use out of pop.

I advise learning hag. While its not helpful having someone say pick something else hag does scales better then trapper. Trapper has limited options open to him and he generate's low bp. He also has significant prep and reset time.If your playing casually as stated above pick a side of the map and defend it at all cost. He tends to score poorly under the current rank system so get used to brutal killer and entity displeased. Over all i love his power but its a little too exploitable and vulnerable to perform well anywhere above purples.

Go for a multi-trap add-on and another powerful add-on, maybe Bloody Coils.
Use Corrupt Intervention as Trapper needs to slow the gen rush.
The shack is a good tool with Trapper: place a trap on the inside near the pallet and one in the grass outside the window.
Nurse's Call is also handy to find Trap escapers.

My main build is a bag add-on and a set time/escape time add-on, with Sloppy, Agitation, Pop, and Discord. Does it work all the time? Nope. But it's fun.
Watching Trapper streamers helps to learn good trap placement, as well. You can trap stairs if you're facing sideways for instance, and there are certain maps where traps clip into the ground for lower visibility.

Play A LOT of survivor. That way you know what paths survivors commonly take and how they behave. Think of paths survivors would run to and how they run certain loops.
Keep your traps hidden. Place them in tall grass and dark areas.
Don't be afraid to experiment with your traps. Sometimes the best traps are the ones you don't expect to work.
Don't spread your traps all over the map. Take control of a single side of the map and control the gens in that area.
Always keep a trap in your hand.
Don't panic if a gen pops very quickly in the early game. Just stay focused and keep calm.
Recommended Trapper build : STBL + Corrupt Intervention + Ruin/Pop + Nurse's Calling/BBQ.

There's also TheEntityLeftHand and Humerogamers on twitch. They are pretty good trapper mains.

Trapper main here.
- Have 2 traps at a loop which near 2 gates. So you can use them to setup Gate trap later.
- Pick 3 closest Gen, use other 4 traps to trap around those Gen.
- Unlike other Killers, Trapper prefer thicken mist addon, and survivors spawn together. If 2 Gen done that close to each other. They just remove 30% chance to escape.
- Use a match to test how u should trap around the basement, especially shack basement. You can hide half of your trap at both door. You can setup traps at the stair.
