Unpopular Opinion: Prestige has no true purpose.
Apart from getting "better items" (which means you have to pay more BP to level up), and getting a "bloody" version of the clothes despite everyone using skins, whenever you "Prestige" your character, it really has no true purpose.
For those who just recently started the game, I suggest you don't prestige your character. It servers no purpose, especially if you don't want to lose all your items and perks and start ALL over again. If you have every character, you must only level them up to 40, but beforehand choose whoever your main is, and completely forget about the "Prestige" function. This "main", simply continue leveling them up, up until you have all perks on level 3.

P3 claudette wants to know your location.

The true purpose is b l e n d i n g.
Also Ace's bloody hat goes really well with his dark red suit.
1 -
It's the flex on other people pretty much, that's the main reason anyone prestiges anymore
4 -
I like losing my stuff all over again. It's nice to start from the bottom and play around with Tier 1 - 2 perks.
On top of that, you essentially stated the purposes of Prestige. To get a better chance at having better items and getting their bloody skins. That's all it was designed for.
2 -
I've seen way too many potato bot babies who were prestige 3 with their character to see it as a flex anymore LMAO
4 -
Let me know where I can find her.
3 -
Lmao, I know right, saw a P3 Clown and I flexed on him by not showing him my P3 Feng and looping for 4 gens to only be camped lmao

She in the bushes

Yeah I really couldn't be bothered to 'prestige' any more characters. I got doc's bloody coat purely because it looks appropriate for the character, that's it. Its to much of a grind and there isn't that much difference in the bloodweb items really.

I prestige for the feeling of completion, but I don't use the bloody cosmetics tho...
4 -
I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. I think most people know prestige is worthless. I don't even believe at all that you get better items after prestige. I do it anyway because what the hell else am i going to do with my bps?

I want to know P3 Claudettes location! 😩
0 -
It was a joke lol I do her for completion as well, I have 4 people at P3 one is not level 50 yet, and another at P2. I have all the survivors, so I still have a ways to go
0 -
Omg she right there. You dont see her?
1 -
Which one?
0 -
Right there! Crouching.

It's pretty safe to say you can blend even without bloody clothes if you're on a dark map + Claudette with any dark clothes.
So yeah, valid point, but still worthless. I realized this after I had all of my characters on P2.
I won't do the same for Killers, once I switch sides.

Oh yea? Ever see a bloody ghostface just chilling?

I'm very positive on the game overall, but I do agree that I have no interest in doing Prestige for my characters. I'm not really hip to the covering my outfit with blood. The problem for me is that I am not jumping all over the place with Killers. I do ONE Killer at a time until I feel competent with them. that Killer gets all the Blood Points, so doing Prestige actually costs me an obscene amount of stuff I've collected. :) Why on Earth would I want to have a "slightly better" shot at getting Rare and Ultra Rare when I already have a good number built up? I would lose out on the deal entirely. Prestige is about bragging rights, and that isn't enough for me.

"unpopular opinion"
I am only prestiging my caracters because I want to have a bloody shirt, but it truly don't have a purpose and the majority agree with you.
0 -
Well I agreed with this up until they announced they are looking to add some prestige rewards.
While we don't know what the rewards will be id rather start to prestige than put endless points into the chars i already have maxed out. I just use maxed out chars to feed the others anyway so why not? Its not hard or much of a grind to get to lvl 50.
0 -
I am a completionest I love to max things out and since I mostly play killer I enjoy the fact I have almost every killer p3 max perks, it is simply a nice goal to achieve, just like old COD, you prestige even though it offered nothing it was simply because you could.

Knowing this forum, I thought many people will disagree with me.
But prestiging characters only for a bloody outfit, flexing on others and having to pay more bloodpoints for items later (because rarer items become more frequent) is truly really worthless and has no purpose.
Let me also mention you lose all your items and perks in the process.

I like certain builds. Some of them require harder to get items, of which I built up a pretty good number. Doing Prestige would mean I can't play that build when I want to do so. I'm just not feeling it. Heck, I wish I could sell back all the junk I have that will never get used (not my style) and get half BP on it or something. You have NO IDEA how many Tombstones I have. If they ever make the things useful to me, I am set for years.
0 -
can we know they?
0 -
I prestige because I see it as a chance to play a character again from scratch and see what develops. Also the better chance at rarer stuff is nice.
0 -
No. Spine chill goes burr
0 -
more like Spine chill goes hiss way the perk looks.

I only lose some add-ons. Once I get level 50 I start using my items and offerings then once they are all used up, I prestige and use those extra BP's right away to start leveling again. That's been my method. ☺
1 -
But better items cost more BP and I want to spend less BP.
Not prestiging your character clearly helps in this, if you're someone who doesn't spam Purple Flashlight every single match, or use Ultra Rare add-ons as Killer in each match.
I've been doing this, too, but I decided I won't prestige my main further, this being Jeff, thanks to somebody on the forums who suggested I should main him.
1 -
OMG that's when it started being important for me, too. Wait til we see our reward! 1,000 BP....weeeeeeeee~ ☺
0 -
I only prestiged my two mains on either side; Dweet and Daddy Myers. I do love Michael's P3 look, so I was happy to prestige him for that reason.
1 -
That.. makes no sense. And that's your personal opinion.

Ultra rares every bloodweb at P3
1 -
So I did not realize it strips you of your Perks if you Presteige! I thought it let you start again to try and get the perks you missed/skipped the first go-round. This info is really a bummer and makes me feel like a slave to the RNG 😤

Rng is the new difficulty.

I guess I'm kind of an elitist (who hasn't become one of the elite yet). I just wish Prestige was more based on Rank. I know it will never happen but I wish that they did the following:
- Rank resets once per QUARTER rather than a month.
- You Prestige a level once each time you hit a Red Rank equal or higher to the previous time you did it.
- Prestige levels granted some sort of benefit like bonuses to contesting Offerings such as Maps and Oaks, i.e. ties go to the highest Prestige Rank. It just has to be something tangible.
So the first time you hit Red Rank you do not Prestige, but if you do it again next cycle and get to the same Rank in Red (or better) you Prestige once, and so on, and so forth. To me Prestige shouldn't be a time in grade thing. Literally ANYONE can just keep going through blood web games. If I was trying to Prestige, my Myers would be many times over at this point based just on the number of games and webs. That feels wrong as it isn't really earned.
0 -
What? What makes no sense? The fact that I want to spend less bloodpoints, which clearly happens if the bloodweb doesn't show me 5 Very Rare items/offerings because of my character being P3? It is my opinion, but I don't see why it wouldn't make any sense. It's literally how the Prestige system works. xD

but we do it anyways.
0 -
Well i I just do it so looks symmetrical since I have p3 on everyone except PH
0 -
I prestige as I genuinely love some of the P3 cosmetics. Mostly the faces. So I like using them in my matches. The P3 Meg face is my personal favourite.
0 -
That's a popular opinion buddy.
The only purpose is getting the blood cosmetics, that's all.
Why would I want my progress to be reset 3 times?

Outside of the cosmetics the purpose it seems is to create the completionist mentality to keep playing.
Some people got nuts for the grind to get everything completed and if they want to do that good for them, but some feel compelled and its this kind of thinking that mmo's and online games tend to build on. It keeps people coming back. Hence the grind.
I got prestige 2 on doc for the bloody coat as it seemed thematically appropriate but I'm done grinding.

I just do it on all killers and my main survivor for bragging rights lol
1 -
I think it's worth it for the killers you really play.
Even if P3's increased item rarity is only 3%, each level 50 bloodweb contains around 25 items to buy. So in theory every 4 bloodwebs you had ~3 better items to buy. Extrapolate that out to hundreds of bloodwebs over the course of years played and it makes sense why you would do it.
Survivors? You can farm their items with plunderers + ace in the hole. I only P3'd my main survivor.

You should only prestige if you actually like the cosmetics, are a trophy hunter, or just want some minor bragging rights.
0 -
What? It has it purpose! You can see a little number on the character's portrait!

IMO, unless you are going the Blendette route, prestige sucks.

Hell, I'm potato at this game. I see no reason to prestige just to become a bloody potato. 🤣

I prestiged to get better blood web to get more party streamers but I’ve seriously gotten none since p3 :(
