DEVS ARE YOU GONNA TO BRING BACK "OLD" FLASHLIGHT?
I had see a lot of conlains about the flashlight update but i was thinking that it was just some baby survivals that cant flash someone if they remove 1% of flashlight range
But ######### i found an Flashlight in a chest and me in front of the killer i could not flash him
The flashlight is now ######### and the worst part was that the flashlight was the only fun item in the inteire game
Of all nerfs that survival just had suffer WHY flashlights, flashlights was fun satifactory and unessesary to nerf
Like i will preffer to now have 6 gens that this nerf
just why why

Flashlight's weren't nerfed per-say, just the angles changed. It took me about 5 minutes to get used to and now I can consistently blind again- if you have a friend available I'd suggest going into a KYF to practice it (and use Streetwise + Built To Last).

From what I heard the dev who said flashlights were fair and balanced got stomped by flashlight users on stream while playing killer.
That same week the angel was changed and during Blight update the flash was angled at the center of the screen

But like Its just the angle was changed or dimishid?

That video is almost 3 years old. Back before instablinds got removed.

The angle was changed- it was more to the right of the survivor, now it's dead centre of the screen. Just takes a smidge of re-adjustment and bam you're golden again.

Like I said, "from what I heard" I don't watch the streams, someone else said it recently

The grammar of OP severely hurt my ability to take the post seriously.

I'm actually struggling to use flashlights right now... even at pallets/windows. I feel like a noob, but the flashlight angle has obviously changed. It's really strange, I just can't get the hang of it. I'm not using a flashlight that much but when I do I often run into problems!
Never had a problem with it for years (Except when against Hag and Spirit). Hope the change is reverted.

I've used flashlights for awhile and the new angle only bothered me for about one yellow flashlight's worth of charge without a battery. Just pay attention to the beam narrowing and continue aiming for the killer's neck area with the light itself. The angle has been changed - and it DOES create some ridiculous dead angles and colission around objects but for the most part the blinds itself is still very easy.
As for flashlight saves, half this community can't even manage a pallet save... timing a flashie save against most killers who look at walls or randomly turn around is probably impossible for most of the masses. It is still funny if you play killer when people are clearly aiming too low because they haven't adjusted yet and it fails to blind as they spotlight your chest/crouch.

There's nothing wrong with flashlights. Just re-adjust yourself.

Flashlights are easy peasy, just get a decent distance but not too far cover the killers character model with your own and look slightly up then click and it should work everytime

You're referencing the video of McCote being stomped with was YEARS ago. That was when instablinds got nerfed.

Agreed, they feel a lot worse now.

If you read my reply to gibbly, I said "from what I heard" someone else said it a few days ago

On the topic of the Odd Bulb nerf, I feel like it's completely pointless to take an OB on a flashlight. All it does is waste 12% more of your flashlight while using, and if you get the blind it only blinds for 25% longer. Doesn't seem worth the trade off when in many cases you are able to double blind and prolong the blind duration just as well (unless I misunderstand how it works).
7k BPs cost, 12% reduction in battery life as a trade off for 25% longer blinds, and one of only two ultra rare items for survivors. I'm not sold on that tbh LOL

If I'm not mistaken, a flashlight blind lasts for 2 seconds. 25% more is an additional half a second, which, if you know DbD, is a lot.

I wasn't sure how long flashlight blinds lasted, thank you. It still doesn't seem quite worth the trade off to me (as an ultra rare item) to have a blind last 0.5 seconds longer while also reducing your flashlight life by 12%.
Maybe it's something I have to play around with (I am newer to trying to use flashlights) but my flashlight fiend friends don't seem to care for OB and ALWAYS opt for battery add ons instead. It's not a BAD add on, per se, just doesn't seem to fit the rarity anymore to me. BNP is much more fitting as an Ultra Rare even after it's severe (and justified) nerf IMO

I'm not sure either, I'm just estimating.
How many blinds can you realistically get from a single flashlight, though?
0 -
Judging by some of the streamers I've watched, a lot! 😅
I'm actually not sure, though, but upon googling it looks like it takes at LEAST 1 second (which probably ends up being closer to 1.5/2 seconds of battery life depending on your skill level). I read that pre-nerf OB made the blind effect take place within .5 seconds, so perhaps it is a little longer than a second?
If it's 1 second exactly, that means you get 8 blinds out of a yellow flashlight if you're PERFECT with it, and 7 if you have OB equipped. But probably closer to 5-6 max if you're just decent and not perfect with flashlight blinds, idk

When you stack a green battery and low amp filament you can get probably around 8-10 blinds if you don't mess up and aim correctly, but I mean if there's also street wise I'm not sure it could be a hell of alot though lol
