I dont understand killers who camp

Even in the late game where all gens are done and have someone hooked. After playing the game for a while,I realised the best way to get bloodpoints and just have a better score in the end,is to never camp and try to and put as much pressure as possible on the map.

For example, today,I had a match on haddonfield and it was pretty hard for me to properly keep pressure.I just made sure i'm always in a chase and focusing on downing survivors and hooking them, not wasting time breaking chases then losing everyone, because of that,in the end I managed to deny a hook save with 2 survivors alive and 1 injured,by pressuring them to leave instead of allowing them to just heal while camping the hook and let them come for the save with bt,ds and stuff like that.

When I was newer to the game I always used to do that, camp the last survivor and miss out on an extra hook or hit and just lose bps in the end.

TLDR: Camping hurts you as a killer and makes the difference betwen getting a lot bps and piping, depiping.

    Trolling is its own reward.

It only worked because I immediatly left the hook after and forced the survivor to get back and leave, else I either get 1 extra hook and potentially kill everyone because even in the endgame after all gens are done and gates powered, you can still put pressure on them if you dont stay idle, camping the hook.

Yes, yet this depends on many factors. How many Survivors are still alive? What´s their status? Where are they? Which tiles are nearby, how far are the gates? Which Killer do you play?

I´m glad though you managed to handle it so well at this occasion.

LITERALLYYYY like I see SO many killers complain about "unhooking in my face" when the majority of players in this game seem to be HEAVY proximity campers, even at red rank. They either never leave the immediate area or they constantly come back to the hook, giving you no chance to safely unhook. It's why Borrowed Time is a perk I NEVER take off in any of my builds.

I get that it's lowkey optimal for the killer to play this way. But it's incredibly annoying to rarely be given a chance to go for a normal unhook and then also see killers harp on how much they hate BT/survivors unhooking so close to them/etc. You're not helping your case for how "toxic" BT is if you're constantly giving survivors the need to bring it LOL

Easy, so many people feel powerless in their lives, and they play killer to compensate it

That works for entitled survivors too.

I had a game last week where the last survivor teabagged the hatch on me.

There was still 3 gens left at this point. You literally did nothing to earn an escape and you are still teabagging?

I honestly felt embarrassed for them as they clearly have limited intelligence if they can't even understand the point of teabagging 🤨

I can't speak for all campers, nor could i speak for many.

But most likely some campers do not think this way, thinking about their Bloodpoints and ranks.

Some will truly view the kill as THE victory over that Survivor.

Because against Solos, Camping is basically a free win.

Played some games last night as survivor that were miserable. Camping, Mori's (to be fair one guy was clearly doing the devour hope challenge), straight tunneling. I guess the build I was testing was just too stronk. Windows of Opportunity + Dance With Me + Detective's Hunch + Spine Chill.

In end game it makes sense, because there's no objective and you want to get at least one (more) kill. I don't fault a killer who camps at 1 or 0 gens. Especially if they had an otherwise rough game. Camping at 3+ gens with a mori, though? Yeah, they just want to play easy mode like survivors who run DS + Unbreakable.

There are lots of reasons to camp. Ranging from toxic to trolling to legit. People are strange...

But walking away from a hook during end game is just outright stupid.

That's the equivalent of 99% the last gen then saying: "######### it, lets run straight at the killer and get some points for boldness" 😐

I respectfully disagree to deny an unhook can be a massive game changer, gens b4 friends? Sometimes with camping you apply pressure on the survivors because they do need to make the unhook, when people fail to do it at the right time it is a mistake and will be punished accordingly. Just an fyi pipping/depipping has never been an incentive to me to change my playstyle at all because rank is utterly meaningless in the game itself. I am sure every good killer has at least a memory of a black pip for completely stomping survivors.

Some survivors do seem to think because you have bt, it is okay to unhook no matter what. Usually goes like this do put somebody on the hook, not knowing whether a survivor is around, leave the area while leaving the area the person gets unhooked and the unhooker is hiding. GJ this right there will be blamed afterwards on the killer when it was the teammate with a ######### unhook and being too stupid to offer a health state of his own. What do you expect killers to waste time looking for the other guy? Please.

Give the killer an incentive to leave the hook, yes sometimes there is useless camping but sometimes it is the right call to make.

    God yes thank you.

“I only patrolled around the hook for the entirety of the first hook state because I knew someone was coming for the save”

YEAH WELL DUH, someone will come for the save because that’s how the game is played! Do these people really want every game to devolve into the first survivor getting left to die on first hook while the killer camps and everyone else does gens? Because I can’t think of a more boring or annoying meta for everyone than survivors just leaving the first guy to die every game because they know they’re getting camped.

I’m a firm believer people who do it just are doing it cuz they know it makes the person they camp mad. I don’t believe camping is a strategy when it’s one that gets you next to no blood points cuz you’re not doing anything as a killer. Sure there is the one argument of if it’s swf you know someone will come for save but that doesn’t hold water cuz that’s not always the case. More or less just an excuse to hide behind the fact that they don’t have skill. Or maybe they’re just but their cuz of a previous game cuz Someone BM’d them. So they take it out on someone in the next match.

If a killer is camping in the endgame, they're doing so because getting a sacrifice and not getting a sacrifice is more often than not the difference between a safety pip and de-pipping.

Even when the gens are done, you get someone hooked, you want to do map pressure on what... the 99 gates? Gates do not regress, and unless you are able to get that last hook, rush over to the gate before it gets to that stage... you just handed them a full escape, as they can defend each other and tap the gate to open.

At this stage your biggest pressure points are gates which you better get to quickly or the survivor that is hooked... which will give you guaranteed blood points if they die and lures the survivors from their safe zone. Unless you want to tap people at the gate while they teabag for bloodpoints be my guest, but I rather have the sacrifice points... I might get a hook exchange, a hit or two and more out of it if they come for the save than I would at the gate, 99ing gates make them bad pressure points. Sometimes they even wait at the gates and get me those extra hits anyway, you know to get in their drop it like its hot wasting time dance in safety?

Camping doesn't always hurt you as a killer, it is all dependent on the situation and frankly can net you a pretty good amount of additional bloodpoints and all that if used properly. Unless you are some type of god and totally outclass your opponents every single game... what you state is unrealistic. You expect to find a survivor, down them, hook them, instantly find a new one, chase them down them hook them, maintain perfect map pressure while giving all the survivors their fair share... if you get the perfect snowball that happens, but if survivors are as good as you, better than you, play smart they won't allow that to happen. It isn't always smart to camp, it is not always smart to tunnel, it is not always smart to run off after a hook and try making a play on the other end of the map. Sometimes the best pressure you can do is near your hook, sometimes you put your hook in a good place to apply that pressure there.

I got called a camper with 1 gen left, with nearly a perfected 3 gen as I defended those generators with a passion. Got a down and guess what... placed them SMACK right in the middle of those 3 generators and patrolled the lot. That applied tons of pressure to secure me some amazing blood points, chases, damaging the generators and getting some sweet kills. That game was going south so hard, had 2 injured and 2 hooks by the time they hit that one 1 gen left... but ooh boy... that 'camp' saved me, granted me over 30k in bloodpoints... NEVER camp you say? Do you play killer?

Campers are normal players, like you and I. They just get hungry sometimes.

So they take a snack break whenever they get a hook.

I made a thread a while back about staying on hook during EGC and a dev said it was fine. I would still personally advise not to do it so you can improve as a killer. Most likely they'll escape but if you want to get better, you should always aim to get as close to 12 hooks as possible instead of kills.

I agree but also as survivor you can't see scratch marks and sometimes I've seen scratch marks near a hook and no info from BBQ and another survivor is still obviously hiding there straight after a hook and not taking aggro. 40 Seconds is a bit much though, I would spend something like 10-15 sec then just move on regardless if I hear a save.

Patrolling a hooked survivor in order to watch for other survivors to make a move, and then target those survivors when they try for the save makes some sense. It's risky, for if the others know it's happening they'll carry on genning and get the quick win.

Camping a survivor (face-camping or moving not far at all from the hook) is just a dunce move. That 1 hook kill could have given much more (more bp for 2/3 hooks; experience in chases and watching survivor tactics; etc.). It's also a guarantee for a loss.

I can sort of understand those who camp an extremely toxic Survivor, and I am sure that in most cases that Killer will know they're gonna have a low-scoring round doing so. However, this also tells that Survivor they achieved in annoying the Killer - basically lets them know they succeeded.

Finally, it's boring! Both for Survivor and Killer. I'm not wasting 2 minutes of my gaming time playing guard-the-flag!

yes when it's the end game all bets are off and I understand the killer camps then,it scummy to camp at 5 4 maybe 3 gen but how fast gen go camping maybe the only way they get a kill.

no, sometimes you have to wait for the guy to get 2nd state, or secure the kill. Especially, if all other 3 survivors are roaming around. As said, if you can't understand some crucial moments during the game, then you have not played enough killer.

I have play enough killer yes if survivors near the hook why leave but that not alway the case tho.
