New "DC penalty" idea

Everyone has been saying we need to implement the DC penalty again ( I agree) but what if they just did something different.

My idea is that the leave game button is grayed out for the first 5-10 mins of the match. To avoid people just killing themselves on hook during this time the struggle phase is just replaced with skill checks like in the cages.

Now I know this wouldn't completely solve the problem and there are ways around it, but it would help deter players from disconnecting at the start of the match or after they get downed first. If the player is like well im just going to afk then they basically have to sit through the ban timer like they normally would have.

Let me know what you think and if you would change anything about this.

Seems like a good idea for the most part but I think instead of replacing struggling with skill checks, it should probably just be automatic because otherwise they could just intentionally fail skill checks to die anyway right?

Missing the skill checks just makes you die a little faster. You don't insta die you would just lose like 5s on the bar for each missed skill check.

The Leave Game button is there for IRL emergencies or when you completely bug out in game, so I wouldn't really think there should ever be a time when that is inaccessible to players.

The whole issue of killing oneself on the hooks is a different story - whether or not that's actually an issue is debatable, for me for example I did not notice an increase in this during the time the DC penalties were previously active. And I am not sure that skill checks would help in that situation as people still need to be able to attempt escape.

The Leave game button is still there in a way. You just close the game/turn off the system. If it is an irl emergency your not likely to care that you have to leave the game. There is no penalty timer involved with this.

The skill check portion would only come in the struggle phase so they can attempt to escape on the first phase still.

If you are talking about people giving up on hook so the last person can have hatch, I've gone back and forth on this. I feel the best solution would be to have a button press that is only available after hatch has spawned to allow yourself to die on hook.

there are always going to be problems with dc penalties. So why not at least make it more entertaining.

I suggest when a player dc’s they should explode or some other gruesome death animation.

Imagine working ona gen with someone and an iri huntress downs someone nearby. Then your gen buddy's head just blows up.
