Proximity Chat?
Okay, I know this will be controversial but I've never stepped too far from a hot cauldron. Trust me, I remember the days of COD online, and the ability to say not-so-nice things to people online but hear me out. What if this feature was completely optional. I know a lot of killers dislike the idea of SWFs and the ability of survivors to communicate but I believe proximity chat could be a happy medium between the two, allowing the killer to hear what the survivors are saying without being able to speak themselves. This could not only help survivors, but allow the killer to gain information of the survivor's next move if they are nearby. I understand if this idea is silly, but as somebody who has recently fell in love with the game I would love some QOL additions that would not only bring people back to the game, but keep those who feel burnt-out with same ole same ole a reason to keep playing. I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions you guys have or if the idea is silly in general.

This is actually a good idea. Also helps solo q. As well as indirectly buffs killers.

This wouldn't nerf SWF as they'd just disable it and continue to use discord..

It would make solo queue worse. You make a suggestion that they don't like and they go crazy on you. Don't listen to their instructions and they throw. You mute the morons and they troll and throw the match for you.
I dunno what they'd say to a killer who can't talk back. Chances are the killers will just auto mute every match or quit the game.

Well, actually yeah if it was optional it would be nice and cool if the killer could hear. Toxicity would not be as high too. Although I worry for the younger audiences or mentally unstable people who still decide to use it.

if the killer can hear it, toxicity will rise to an all time high.

That is my worry too. End-game chat can be brutal enough at times so I don't want to encourage a feature that could make people not want to play even more or hear hateful/offensive things on a game they find community on.

I prefer a quick chat feature if they try to implement communication. Radial menu + pre-recorded blurbs that are auto translated in every language on the user end.

Yeah, but that would make sense for "proximity chat". Voice chat for survivors is what would be less toxic, however the problem with full on voice chat is that it would be way too powerful for killers. Without getting into it, if everyone had voice chat as survivors, the game would become considerably harder to play as killer which is already difficult.

Players have been saying this for months - even years now. The Dev's are extremely against the idea of adding a voice chat feature to the game, even proxi chat. Because it would;
- Fun and Effective way to even boost the games realism of the game when players can try to keep quiet and whisper. While at the same time the Killer listen in, or scare survivors.
- Close the gap between solo que, and allow the developers to have an easier time balancing the game when they no longer have to worry about the survivors not being in a SWF because they would be balancing the game around the idea that players are using all of the tools available to them.
Oh I'm sorry, that's just what adding voice chat to the game would do, and fix all of the games problems. These are the easily fixed reasons the Devs give for not adding a voice chat feature.
- Children screaming in your ear. (Adult rated game? Option to mute them?)
- People playing music (option to mute them?)
- People harassing or bullying (Option to mute them?)
- People not wanting to use voice chat (Option to not use voice chat?)
- Language Barriers, especially with Europe (Did you forget that you have dedicated servers now? Not to mention the universal language is English by default. Including the fact that there are hundreds of other games with open voice chat feature that have 0 problems with "language barriers" which most of them are popular in Europe like Dead by Daylight is).
So yeah. A voice chat feature, or proxi chat feature would be entirely fantastic and extremely healthy and helpful to the game, but... No?

This sounds nice but with the amount of toxic people and the amount of situations that can MAKE people toxic or angry at others.. this would be a waste of a feature. I'd be fine if Killers just heard random character-voiced mumbles when survivors talk, like the parents in The Peanuts, cuz YOU KNOW cocky players are gonna be hella toxic and start taunting. But then again, survivors can still be toxic to eachother...
I just want more emotes so we can communicate better with eachother.
We desperately need a "No/Dont do that" emote so that we can stop other survivors from finishing the wrong gens for example. And we need a "Gimme that" emote so that we can exchange items.

You know what that's a great idea, but what's the range of the voice chat?
