What the event SHOULD have been.
I'm not going to start another thread on the objective failure which is the 2020 Halloween Event.
Instead, I want to ask the community what SHOULD have been done instead.
Hopefully, at the very least, this can act as inspiration (or just lift all the good ideas idc) for next years event.
The following things are things which I think would be good:
1) Earn Halloween skins. This is an obvious one. We should be able to earn one killer and one survivor Halloween themed skin just by playing.
2) Bloodpoints. The points from Pustula Petal offerings are terrible (and i'm burning through them too fast with the number of killer DCs). And the cost to get the petals in no way makes up for the points you get from using it! Maybe a 2x BP event for the week of Halloween? Or just 1.5 for the season (so people can spend some of the holidays with their family)
3) Environment. I miss the Halloween music and themed lobby. This years seems lackluster to say the least... I'd have liked orange fog! An orange moon on each map or just make the moon a pumpkin (it can be seen indoors on The Game so it'd work). Replace trash cans or put a burning corpse in them maybe?
What about you guys? What would you have liked to see or hope to see in the future?

I would be happy with at least 1 and 3, BP don't really make an event on itself, it's a plus not a must.

I agree. I dont really have anything I want/need to spend bloodpoints on. I just like it for bringing people back to the game and it seems to make everyone happy so =D

Maybe we could see pustula growing on trees and In other places.(make it look obviously different so people dont get confused with the intractable ones.) This would be a nice touch considering the plants should be everywhere because the entity is in its blighted state or whatever its called.

I would love this! I'm just worried about how much resources it would take to do... Gens, hooks, lockers and trash cans seem to be easily changeable (at least from past events it seems to be) but I would LOVE to see Pustulas growing EVERYWHERE!

I really liked how you could earn vials and spend them on the blighted outfits last year. That was a very good and engaging part of the rift imo, and it's very sad to see that concept go.
I love how the special flowers are back, but they don't seem to do anything special. Without the vial system, what's the point of harvesting them? This would have been the perfect opportunity to enhance this annual event and bring the vial that you fill up in-match back. Combine that with some vials from the free track of the rift and you got the best of both worlds.
This year's event is just a huge disappointment... At least we had some free outfits to choose from last year, but now we just have the neat survivor addons, the ######### killer addon, and 6 new blighted outfits, only 3 of which can be earned without auric cells (for the highest possible shard price...). It's just a mess and it sucks

That's kinda how I feel with your idea of giving an event skin for playing. I like the idea but it would be a lot of work without significant payout.

True but theres a lot of low effort skins they could do which I think the community would be happy with! Even just occultist type robes (obvs not black due to balance but maybe red? Or even blighted!) for all survivors and killers and you can pick two for free (and pay for the rest) and boom! Community and BHVR profit!
Or make "costumes" out of the original killers for the OG survivors and vice versa!

My suggestion:
-Every non-dlc character gets a new cosmetic: A Halloween Costume. Maybe a witch outfit, a vampire outfit... whatever.
-On every map, there will be a number of pumpkins. Survivors and killers must bust the pumpkins to earn pumpkin points. There'll be 10 pumpkins on every map, but you can only get two pumpkin points per match.
-Each costume costs a total of 10 pumpkin points.
-Once the event is over, unearned costumes can be bought for Auric cells.
-A Haunted Mansion Map to be added to the game either as part of what will be Chapter 21 or just a standalone map.

I love all of this and am now just picturing a sexy witch Kate and vampire Dwight! <3

I think the key things are better skins to get -- either by cashing in currency for Halloween skins, or just having better stuff on the free track of the rift -- and more bloodpoints. I missed most of the really cool, interesting events, so I'd be happy if there were some neat gameplay elements like the vials or whatever, but that's not necessary for me.
The other Halloween thing I was hoping for is a really good sale, so I guess we'll see what happens when the sale finally starts.
Haunted Mansion is the map I never knew I wanted, but now I want it desperately.

Just bring 2018 back.

At this stage I'd be happy with that!
I was hoping for something different. Heck, even if they just did a skin change! Make gens human sacrifices! So survivors were trying to "kill" the "sacrifices" and killers were trying to "save" the "sacrifices" from the mean survivors! Would have spiced things up a tad by just changing some assets! Fail a "gen" skill check? Its now a failed heal noise!
Literally ANYTHING would be better than the barren wasteland which is DbD Halloween 2020...

What you said, also increase the rate of event item/addon/offering on blood web. Multiple blood webs I've had 0 event offerings and only 1 event item or addon per blood web.
They could make flowers/hooks do something like increase speeds for certain amount of time when used. Survivors want speed boost for interactions they need to collect serum from flower. Killer wants speed boost they need to hook survivor on special hook. This way there's no collect and quit moment you have what you need from the match.

They maybe wanted US to be generous.

I was only excited for Halloween for the concept that we'd be able to earn Halloween skins and with that gone.. there's nothing to enjoy. BHVR ruined their biggest seasonal event.

I would mostly be happy with #1 but I also really want #3 too. #2 would be a cherry on top.

I'm still fairly new to DBD so this is my first Halloween event, but based on what BHVR has done in years past made me eager to play the upcoming Halloween event. But now that we're here, nothing about this resembles an event in any way shape or form.
The bloodpoint offerings are a joke, you can't earn any cosmetics by playing the game, hell there aren't even Halloween decorations in the maps. Why would they call this an event? I've seen other players call this a battle pass, and I couldn't agree more.

Im rather shocked that they made the petals cost more than they're worth. nothing about this "event" makes sense to me and it would have been so easy to make it a good one...
