Do something about camping hooks.

Nowadays this game is filled with people who just camp hooks. Hacking, slashing, standing there, while the person is on the hook. Making it impossible for anybody else to play the game the way it was intended.  If there could be a way that it gives a penalty for standing/being in a certain radius of that hook for too long (like maybe two other hooks despawn for a while, or he becomes blinded automatically for a few seconds) that would really improve the game! Kind of like how we have the penalty now for people who disconnect, I don't see why we can't have some sort of penalty for just camping hooks and ruining the game.

This is right I feel frustrated when someone camps hooks maybe a penalty can be something like teleporting you back to where you spawned

Did you know that in the very first PTB, BHVR tried out a new mechanic which slowed down the sacrificial process of survivors if the Killer was too close to the hook? It was instantly exploited by survivors and removed.

Personally I think a matchmaking lock similar to the one for those who DC might be worth looking into. It’s technically a related issue. Killers like to camp and tunnel more now because they know survivors are less likely to DC so they don’t get locked out. I think the same should be set in place to prevent camping and tunneling and to increase the time if they continue to do so. The problem with that, though, is if it’s based on how close the killer is to the hook, they might just stay further away or killers with range weapons will become more popular. And of course the devs wouldn’t be able to consider standing 10 m away to be camping because that is somewhat unfair if you just so happen to be in the vicinity. But I still think a matchmaking lock may be a valid solution. That’s just my opinion though.

Killer are penalise in bloodpoit for camping and most of the solution i see can be exploitable. Dont forget camping is part of the killer strat and the best way to beat that is by doing gen and totem.

Btw im curious how in your opinion this game is supose to be played because i can tell you most people have i different idea

They already get punished for it via the emblem system, and if you think about it them standing there isnt getting them any blood points either. Another point i heard from a streamer is that you can think about it like this: they probably had a hard time catching you and they think they wont catch you again if you get off the hook. You can always just give your teammates more time to do gens by struggling or you can attempt escapes and die on hook then get to the next game. I know its frustrating but its a part of the game in the higher ranks and even the lower ones sometimes

Killers already get penalized when they stand close to a hook

The game was intended to have camping, so it is an "intended" mechanic. See the dev diaries.

I've said the exact same thing even worse now survivors get timer banned for toxic killers and the killer gets quitter bonus na get this trash removed

I get matches where they're just standing there... menacingly! But really, I only get extra mad when they HIT ME as if I'm not gonna struggle harder. I always go in for the save when I can, even if I get hooked at least I got my teammate outta there :)

Being camped is horrible and it really ruins the game for survivors, it's a practice more linked with baby killers rather than actually experienced ones, but due to the matchmaking freaking mess I often end up with baby camping killers.

I wish the devs would add a mechanic that punishes killers who camp. I'd call it "Unworthy Killer" or something. Picture this: After hooking a survivor and while not in a chase, a non-visible timer starts, while inside the hook's radius (camping). When the timer reaches zero the hook collapses and the survivor is able to escape.

If you know a killer is camping someone, stop rushing hooks and instead get the gens done and escape. If you're being camped, stay on the hook instead of suiciding.

Each hook stage is a minute. Add Camaradarie to the mix and it becomes 2:34 in total. The 3 other survivors can finish the remaining generators, or at least get very close to doing so, in this time. That's the punishment for camping.

The reason killers camp so much is because survivors rush the hook, which usually results in an exchange and wasted time on their part. If you just did the damn gens, the killer would be less enticed to camp.

Lol at y'all assuming I don't do the gens whenever this happens. I've been in this game a while, I've seen the iterations. And yet, camping and now the DC penalty combined for survivors is definitely driving more and more people away. I usually enjoy the game, but not when it's just becoming a cesspool of no work for either side, toxic killers, toxic players, and an overall mess.

As a recent "baby killer" I attempted camping hooks. I got the game a few days ago and I was looking through my available perks at the time and I came across Insidious. I thought that it would allow me to try out a new playstyle, and see if it was better than what I was currently doing. I quickly realized that I didn't get the bloodpoints that I wanted. A couple games later I learned that it was preventing me from ranking up as fast and it also usually resulted in me being unable to kill all survivors consistently. The only time that it was useful was when I was excessively outranked and outkitted. I, in many occasions had rank 10 to rank 1 survivors in my lobby despite being rank 19 and on my first killer/maps. So while camping hooks is annoying, the problem doesn't lie with addressing the camping problem but rather the matchmaking and the new player experience.

FYI, I no longer camp hooks as it is boring and stunts my progress; unless you irritate me enough with your stupid flashlight with instant flash, then you are getting camped cause I hate you. :)
