Should the devs make changes to matchmaking?
Simple question here I want to start a discussion about matchmaking.
Should the devs change matchmaking if yes what would be a good change?
If no explain why.
I'll start i feel like they should take a look into matchmaking.
One specific change could make this game a better experience for everyone.
Instead of randomly pair us up with whoever the game can find how about match people up with other of similar play time for example. How about placing the more experienced players into matches with each other and place less experienced players with each other. That way the players with 4k hours or more can have a challenge. While the less experienced players have the options to learn and get better over time since they get paired with people of similar play time . Would a system like this be a possible thing to implement in the future?

Yes, make it more consistent to skill level or make the reset actually reset players ranks like it used to.

Not A bad idea indeed i think that when you pair up people by play time and skill it's gonna be a better experience for new and veteran players. Since I hear a lot of skilled players complain they get matched with people that are less experienced. While I hear new players including myself complain about having matches that are too hard. So this could potentially solve it.

They should, but I doubt they could,
remember when they introduced MMR?

This kind of game is really hard to get match making right. You get people that play 24/7 versus people that play only on weekends and yet their skill level could be exactly the same.
My main issue is how long it takes to find a match. I turn on cross play as a PC player and it can still take 20 mins or so to get into a game. What is bad about that - is that because it takes so long, you can tell the survivors are AFK because when we get into the game they are standing where they spawned still so I just walk away as a killer. Then they DC.

FYI they’ve already said a couple of times that the new MMR that’s currently temporarily disabled is coming back sooner rather than later. Bringing that back online is a high priority for them. And since they can turn it back on without needing a client side patch it can literally happen any time they think it’s ready again.

My thoughts on this:
Expand ranks... the game is being played by thousands of players and you mean to tell me that 20 ranks are enough?
Brown: 20-1... So that these players can focus on getting perks on the characters they want
Yellow: 20-1... So that these players can learn their own playstyle and grow
Green: 10-1... So that these players can start to finalize their builds and playstyle
Purple: 10-1... So that these players can learn the nuances of the game
Red: 10-1... So these players have a chance of staying at the top
Rank reset now puts everyone to the bottom of their color
Restrict MM and SWF's to colors... but can expand search to bring the top of the last color
Red- Purple
Purple- Green
Green-Yellow
Yellow- Brown
And Brown are by themselves... For good reasons
Agree... Disagree... Too much... Too little?

As much as I support this, there is a loop hole, some people don’t care about ranks and are willingly to de-rank to get easier games. There’s no point going higher if you aren’t having fun and there’s no reward for going higher.

Could you please help point me in the direction of this on here? Would like to read through it :)

The dev's are talking about adding rank rewards
I am one of those whom don't really care about the ranks I am or play against...
I could've added a casual mode... but OP was asking about changing MM
Also we can't force people to play the ways we want them to... If I had an idea to limit de-ranking I would've put it in :(

Yes, they should. They need to change it badly. I just got the game and am very new, I play with friends when I do play survivor but when I am playing solo I play Killer for the most part.
I am only Rank 17, have had the game less than 24 hours. I should NOT be matched against a SWF group that is a 15, a 4, a 5, and a 7.
It's complete garbage. I am glad I bought this game on sale and that I was patient about not buying ANY DLC's because, this is not worth my time as it currently is. My personal win condition has been to hook at least two people. Not kill. Hook.
Because all I run into is SWF's that are farming low ranked killers. SWF needs to be something a killer can choose to accept as opponents or not, or at least not be chucked at low ranked killers because it makes the game completely unfun when you can't even interact with the other players because they know every inch of the map. Flashlight stun you constantly. Loop perfectly.
This problem exists worse during prime playtime of course, it's a shame, because some of us do work, and would still like to enjoy the game.
It's just garbage.
