Buff Surge by activating it with Special Attacks
With Pop getting nerf and Ruin + Undying is the only thing standing a chance against a good SWF. So my suggestion of making killer builds more diverge is can we buff Surge by making it activate on Killer's special attacks? Like it's so weird that Surge, Demogorgon's perk that has a special attack called Shred but surge will not work if you down someone using it. By buffing Surge, I guarantee you more Killers like Huntress, Blight, Billy, Demo or ANY KILLER that has a special attack will run it more versus the Ruin + Undying combo you all so complain about.

That should be a thing already. I'm mad that Surge has a long cooldown, but honestly I'd keep it as a trade-off if it meant Surge would activate from any down, not just ones from a basic attack.

People will run ruin, undying and surge at the same time. But I agree, it would be nice if it doesn't have basic attack restrictions. That concept butchers potentially viable perks and pushes them into niche category.

Surge has too many conditions, only activates when not on cooldown, on gens within a 32 meter range, only if you down a survivor, and only if you downed them with a basic attack.
and for all that you get 8% basically slapping the gen with a wet napkin

Now think about hex blood favor.

that perk could use a rework

Ill just steal someone elses idea for it,
Hex Blood Favor
after getting pallet stunned 2 times a random dull totem becomes a hex totem
dropped pallets within your terror radius automatically break after 14/12/10 seconds
additional instances of this totem decrease break time by 2 seconds

The Pop nerf didn't change anything. It is still the single best anti-gen perk in the game. Undying + Ruin is inconsistent at best against SWF since maps and totem perks hard counter it.
I do agree Surge needs a buff though.

No.
This indirectly buffs killers that have an offensive power, and handicaps killers that have a support power.

It buffs killers that have a power

Yea i think this would be a good buff. I use it on nurse only atm because she's one of the only mobile killers who gets advantage from this perk.
Would be good to start seeing variety builds instead of same old noob stomping ruin undying.

Honestly, that change alone would justify the cooldown.

Surge activates upon a down. Some killer powers do NOT injure or down.
This would make such a change unbalanced and unfair. Why should only some killers get a significantly better advantage with a perk like Surge?

Michael(The Shape) has an offensive power where everyone goes down in a single hit and he benefits greatly from Surge so why not someone like Billy or Oni benefit from surge if they also got an offensive power.
1 -
That’s not the same thing.
Myers is still using his basic attack. His power simply puts a status effect on the survivors.
He cant in anyway cause direct injury by pressing M2.

I'd only use Surge as a perk if the perk has no cooldown and regression was increased to 15% from 8%. Its funny that they buffed all Demogorgon perks that nobody was going to use but left out the only perk that people "Might consider" as unchanged. I bet their sales on Demogorgon would skyrocket from this one change alone.

I don't see any reason at all to not remove the basic attack requirement from surge.
Why would it be too strong and unbalanced?
Guess i'm gonna stick to my super balanced BBQ,Ruin,Undying and Infectious on Oni then :]

I’d like to see Surge apply its 8% penalty even on gens that are already regressing. Right now if a gen is already regressing Surge does nothing.

For lack of a better word, it’s more a “fairness” thing rather than “balance” thing.
Why should there be a disparity between killers where some can only activate a perk (such as Surge) only one way, whereas others have the luxury two ways to activate the same perk?
0 -
But all it does is limiting the pool of viable perks.
Plus there are already perks that work better on some killers than on others.
Nurses calling in stealth killers
Ruin on killers with mobility
Etc.
So that doesn't make much sense either

This would only be a buff to 8 of the 21 killers. I would say it's fair especially with it's conditions.
How often are you going to down a survivor near a gen. Most of the time they will run to the next loop.
Surge will not give good value to you if you can get multiple downs within a short time from the cool down. If surge did not have a cool down then yes I would agree that it would be very strong on a m2 killer

This is interesting, my only worry with buffing it was killers stacking ruin, undying and surge, that would probably too strong IF surge got a buff. But since it doesn't apply to regressing, Definitely buff it.

And even there, that’s 3 perks used in that combo and it’s not necessarily better than, say, Ruin + Undying + Thanatophobia for example.

I think this would be a good change. Basically the gen slowdown version of IF.
