How to throw pallets in front of me instead of behind?

So, I have no problem throwing a pallet behind me after I run through it, but, if I want to throw the pallet down in front of me for whatever reason -- like maybe the killer surprised me by coming around the corner, or I want to throw it so I can vault -- it seems really difficult to get the prompt to to it. Most of the time, I can't throw it at all and I just end up getting killed.

I saw a video where someone said something about how the pallets changed at some point so that the direction you're moving when you try to throw matters, but I 100% didn't understand.

Also, I'm on controller if that makes a difference.

Is there a special trick to throwing pallets in front of you?

    Let go off the "run"-button before dropping. Your character will do a quickdrop action infront of them that way.

    Edit: Alternatively, you can also turn around before dropping it while running. Your game will use your input rather your running direction to determine where to drop it, which means you dont need to fully turn around to do it. This is the change you are talking about.

    I think you have to be standing still to throw it on front of you. Don't press any of the movement keys and you'll be fine in that regard.
