Should NOED be nerfed?

I play both sides and I'll just say that NOED is the most annoying perk to go against for either survivor or killer. I feel like killers that often struggle with pressuring the map early and mid game rely too much on this one perk that basically rewards them for getting kills they don't deserve. Now, I'm not trying to come after those specific killers that usually run NOED and I'm not trying to change anybody's mind about NOED, so if that's what you're taking from this, just note that that's not my goal of this question. There are still a lot of unbalanced things in DBD on both sides that need to be looked at, like keys, moris, etc., and I feel like the devs are doing a fairly decent job at balancing the game as much as they can. What changes would you recommend for NOED?

NOED isn’t really that powerful a perk, in effect it’s more or less Haunted Ground that triggers at the end of the match versus in the middle. It’s effect is slightly better than Haunted Ground because of the speed boost, but on the flip side the downs from Haunted Ground have a better chance of snowballing into a win since they give a momentum boost early in the match versus at the very end, in addition to NOED possibly never triggering because the dull totems were cleansed before the generators were completed. (Haunted Ground can hypothetically not go off as well but in practice survivors have been hyperfocussed on cleansing totems so it’s been consistently triggering every match I use it, at least.)

I suspect the main reason survivors complain about NOED but don’t complain about Haunted Ground is because psychologically once the generators are done the survivors feel like they’re about to win and getting downed by NOED at that point therefore becomes much more frustrating. It’s losing something you thought you already gained.

I’m not sure how common NOED is among killers, but it is a universal perk available in all bloodwebs automatically so that easy availability probably helps slightly.

For a suggestion to nerf NOED to make sense there would need to be some actual data showing that killers with NOED are outperforming killers who use other perks in score or kill rate. If the data doesn’t support a nerf then the most you could get would be a neutral change.

That's all fair. I also don't think NOED is a powerful perk it is just more frustrating than anything to go against, because it punishes survivors that played a solid game and rewards killers that played a poor game. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned "nerf" because like I said NOED isn't super strong like BBQ, whispers, and ruin/undying, it just needs a change that still makes it a viable perk but survivors don't get frustrated when they do get hit with NOED's effect.

I am a huge hater of NOED. Its a perk basically saying, "Here, you couldn't do your job good enough while you were supposed to, so let's strap on the training wheels and give you your participation trophy!" Very rarely do I see it used by a killer who was any good, and that's because, well, it's not a very good perk. It only activates in the end-game, and you could run any number of better perks that would help you more throughout the whole game. So, no, it doesn't need to be nerfed. I'd really like it to be removed from the game entirely, but that'll never happen.

Watched a match against a Leatherface today where NOED came into play... my friend cleansed 4 totems, then the last gen pops and he gets whacked, boom! NOED. Goes down and gets put on a hook one foot away from the lit totem. Needless to say, Leatherface didn't leave that spot. He and one other survivor died on their first hook. The other two escaped.

It wasn't NOED that felt like the big problem there but the fact that of the other three survivors not one touched a damn totem. And the thing that always freaking sucks is that it seems to be the rule that the person who cleanses the majority of the totems will die to NOED.

When NOED pops and I never touched a totem, it feels like I screwed up. When I cleanse 3+ totems and NOED pops and I go down to it, it can feel like absolute bull[BAD WORD]. I don't know how to fix that, though.

I do like the idea of the killer getting boost of power right at the end. Sort of a 'You've done well, now here's one final challenge!' I'm not sure how or if i would nerf.
