Old Freddy was weaker than Clown, i don't want to wait 7 seconds so I could hit survivor, I don't miss survivors healing in front of my face when i can't literally do anything. New Freddy is fine.
15 -
Yes! Definitely! There has never been anything as fun as watching a survivor cleanse a totem while I stood by helplessly because they hadn't fallen asleep yet. Devs, return this aspect immediately or expect a killer boycott!
9 -
He was incredibly strong when used CORRECTLY. So few used him CORRECTLY. Waiting till being right on top of a survivor to use Dream Demon, even though it is a ranged power was just dumber than dumb.
6 -
It was pretty fun watching survivors trying to heal in your face when you had coulrophobia
0 -
Never got to a chance to face old Freddy (joined DbD right after his rework) so I have no idea on how his gameplay was but I'm pretty sure everyone likes him the way he is (at least all the people who use Freddy are happy) Undoing that rework would just anger a lot of players who would probably drop the game because of it
1 -
He wasn't worse than clown. People played him like default m1 killer and said he's trash after that.
5 -
I thought old Freddy was the opposite of current Freddy, so he had a lullaby instead of a TR when the survivor was awake?
0 -
Nope,it was exactly the same.
Awake survivors had terror radius and sleeping survivors heard the lullaby
0 -
Freddy shouldn't have a free method of putting survivors asleep into his slow-down add ons. Remove the ''time'' mechanic and ensure survivors are only put into the sleeping state once hit by Freddy.
1 -
Really? Wow, it's been so long I can't even keep track.
I remember it was funny seeing survivors who were clueless about Freddy's gameplay going into the basement, and I'm just watching their auras like, "Wow." But at the same time any survivor who knew what they were doing was a pain. I turn a corner, they're cleansing my hex, and they know how much time they have left before they fall asleep so they're not worried enough to run off before they destroy the thing in my face. And playing against him, I had so much time during which I knew I was untouchable during any match, and if my stealth failed I knew immediately because I'd start to fall asleep.
He was such a mixed bag. But that's just my personal experience.
Edit: Oh, I see below this that I was kinda right! Lullaby when awake but it still acted as a TR for perks like Coulrophobia. Yeah, I wasn't sure about it acting like a TR or not, but I really did think I remembered the lullaby-when-awake thing; nice to know my mind isn't completely gone yet lol.

Ehh,i never really used any hex perks on him except noed sometimes.
But yeah, going against good survivors was always pretty awful, but there were some really fun times too with him

Yes, but this was before the advent of oblivious, and the clarification that the Lullaby wasn’t a TR. Overwhelming Presence, Unnerving Presence, and Coulrophobia all worked on awake survivors.
1 -
No, this is incorrect. He had a Lullaby while survivors were awake, and a 24m TR for asleep survivors
3 -
Damn it,i'm dumb💀
I only remember that perks like coulrophobia worked on awake survivors.
But i guess that was because Oblivious wasn't in the game at that time

The og class photo... I miss that

Old freddy was the absolute worst killer in the game and completley unviable. So no thanks.
1 -
Freddy uses a big dream snare in the remake (the movie our Freddy is based on). I can't remember any scenes where he teleported but I would think he can do that and the dream pallets are just something BHVR came up with worked with his power.
Also please don't try to speak for everyone when you say we want old Freddy back. Some of us like the new Freddy. If you really want a Killer that plays like old Freddy, then we can give that power to a new Killer.
0 -
I hate the new Freddy. I liked old Freddy. It would have been nice and they kept that as an option, since he is completely different now after the rework
0 -
I don't know what killers your talking for but I don't think anyone wants old freddy back he was so weak and powerless he was almost unplayable new Freddy is actually a good killer and is actually strong if your only reason for wanting old freddy is wanting consistency from the movies then your in the wrong place because old freddy is never coming back ((god let's hope))
1 -
Old Freddy was overall meh without the right build and playstyle, but he was definitely unique and had a cool concept for a power that just needed something else to be added to it.
New Freddy is a mess of cookie-cutter killer mechanics with no kind of significant drawback or significant strengths that give him any identity or anything interesting. You don't need to think about any kind of weaknesses or drawbacks, you don't need to learn anything or adapt to any kind of playstyle or exploit strengths you just play him without thought and it works. It's so ######### dull and boring.
So yeah I wouldn't mind old Freddy back tbh.

Man I don’t remember Pyramid Head shooting barbed wire out of the ground in the games.
3 -
I wouldn't totally say that someone who has been playing freddy for a long while is obviously is gonna be better and know how to utilize his kit more than say someone who's only been playing him for a few days, there is somewhat a way to play him and there's always a mix up with snares and pallets so I wouldn't see he's super dumb and takes no skill because like all killers there is tricks and technical things you will pick up.

he was strong because you could make the game last long enough to where there was nowhere safe within distance a survivor could go. however if you versed gen rushers who properly split gens you had no chance of winning with the perks at the time.
he had nothing to help land a hit in a chase at best he could maybe hit a survivor when they fell asleep but good survivors with headsets could still avoid that with pallets or decent vaults.
Even the "good" freddys that mindgamed with the dream transition couldn't pull it off constantly against good survivors who got to pallets/vaults it was literally just a weaker version of wraith even at that time when wraith didn't get a speed boost. the only thing that made him better was the natural slow down.
0 -
Disagree. Freddy was run n gun. It was impossible to gen rush a Freddy that was keeping tabs on who woke up, and immediately prioritise putting them back to sleep again.
Seriously. I held my own consistently in red ranks with old Freddy. If he was being gen rushed, he was being used completely wrong.
0 -
yeah i did the same but cmon he wasn't good, he only won by making games last too long.
edit: like literally any killer wins if a game goes on too long simply because the survivors have too few options available.

Honestly I can't think of a single trick or interesting bit of tech I've found with new Freddy. Believe me I've tried but I don't think there is a single interesting quirk with his power. There is a way to play him that may need a bit of learning but it's such a simple playstyle that has almost no variation to it. Like for example I can easily tell who's a good Demo, or Blight or Billy etc, not just if they're a good killer player in general. I can't do the same with Freddy players. They're all the same. It's the same with Spirit, I can't tell with her either, they all just blend together because their playstyles are very one-dimensional and have nothing interesting for players to express themselves with. At least imo.

Okay well I get where your coming from but I don't know why people/survivors are so against having one or two easy killers to play or use, I don't see where it's inherently wrong to have a killer with a power that's easy to grasp and easy to understand and generally more forgiving in both play style and experience.
0 -
Old Freddy had problems but new Freddy is just "Efficient killer: the character". He's boring as hell because he's good at everything and his powers are so effortless and uninteresting that he never feels engaging to play.
0 -
There's nothing actually wrong with having killers like Spirit and Freddy, I'm just not a fan of them and think, imo, they would be liked a lot more and I would play them if they had something interesting below the surface because right now they don't.
0 -
Nope it was the lullaby when Survivors were awake and the TR when the Survivor was asleep.
Skip to 7:57 and you'll slightly hear the lullaby when he's awake (this is the best video I could find, hopefully you don't mind that's it's the Hatch King himself)

Freddy didn´t need a full rework. Giving him the ability to interact with survivors that are holding m1 would have been suficient.
I used to be a Freddy main before his rework and reached rank 1 with him. His gameplay was completely different from now.
He was able to mindgame, use hit&run, etc. That´s the way i used to enjoy him.
Btw, now i only touch him for dailys if at all...
1 -
We have this discussion like once every week can you please just ######### stop?
Killer main. Old freddy main. I love the lad to death (not his personality, don't ######### children) and his gameplay was amazing fun for me. I reached rank 1, had a blast, etc.
But he was weak as #########.
The only reason I used to win as old Freddy is because of old Hex:Ruin. Without that every game was a loss; generators went too fast and you had nothing to help you in a chase.
Can we please lay old Freddy to rest and let him stay there? We don't need him back. We don't need an add-on to bring him back. He can just say where he is- in the grave- forever. Time has moved on. Devs have deleted code. End of. Goodbye Freddy.

My freddy De-make / Remake suggestion:
Bring back old Freddy: no more bloodpools, fake pallets or automatically falling asleep.
Freddy is completely "out of the game" like he was before when you are not in the dreamstate.
Freddy can use his old ability to throw you into the dreamstate, dreamstate transistion slows all actions down by an enormous percentage, aka its in almost all cases best to abandon what you are doing and run rather then sit through it until Freddy can hurt you
(if a door is actually 98% or so then obviously you can just open the door)
Freddy keeps his teleporting ability to generators just for that unique mobility function.
But apart from all of that, if we for a start could just remove the auto-falling asleep I think we would already not hate him as much.
Its funny how they reworked Doctor because players hated the "no skill passive insanity build up" and yet here is new freddy who has "no skill passive you will fall asleep".....

I miss old Freddy sometimes but they probably shouldn't bring him back. They shouldn't leave him as he is now either, all strengths and no weaknesses isn't the most engaging thing ever.
2 -
Not his old self (though I liked him a lot) but Freddy definitely needs to be adjusted to not be so ridiculously broken with zero effort needed.
2 -
From my experience with old freddy, his games went one of two ways. Either he was gen rushed and survivors easily escaped or he killed them all because they didnt know how to play against him
0 -
Old Freddy was pretty strong even vs high ranks but I am not sure how much of that is just because nobody really played Old Freddy and high rank survivors had very little experience against him vs Spirit, Billy, etc.
If you constantly juggled targets and kept everyone "harassed" and off of gens (even to the point you'd disengage/abandon a chase just to re-sleep someone who woke up, etc.) he was decent. Being looped too long? Run away and chase someone else. Use his tiny terror radius to constantly start and break off chases to keep survivors confused and re-engage in a dead zone. Keep the game stalled until you can get a ton of pallets broken.
Personally as much as I want OG Freddy back I'd rather we get a killer that acts similar to old Freddy but without the B.S. aspects. (I loved his tracking but a Freddy who was determined to chase you was pretty much impossible to get away from. His invisibility was really cool but it lead to frustration since when awake you had no idea where Freddy was until he sleeps you. He also had a few builds that were a little busted like M&A + Red Paint Brush + Z-block 3 second transition 0 TR Freddy, or Black Box + Old Dying Light + a Mori "Tunnel Freddy" etc.)
Ideally it'd be a killer that pulls you into another "world" and one has to escape from it back into the "real" realm. Pinhead pulling people into the Lament Configuration. SCP-106 pulling survivors into the pocket dimension and they have to escape in a limited amount of time, etc.

It's been said that old Bubba without his chainsaw would be better than old Freddy.
This is actually true.
However, I do think Freddy should have gotten a big buff rather than a whole new power.

I loved playing against old freddy and loved playing as old freddy, I hate the new freddy because you can do the stupid forever build and have great map pressure at the same time.
0 -
This. Don't get me wrong I loved old Freddy and even mained him. If you went against an old Freddy they were GOOD and knew what they were doing. But for people that didn't know every trick and M1 killer needs to use they would get decimated. Even more than Legion. I hate new Freddy but its better to have a strong killer than a weak killer.

I liked playing old Freddy more, just the thrill of winning with a dogshit ability is great.
0 -
And now he is literally Nurse if she had : A gun, A bomb and 100% slowdown.

I really liked that he was completely invisible and you couldn't see him with any aura reading perks outside of his dreamworld. I also loved his own aura reading outside of his lullaby/TR when you were asleep. And I miss Ninja Freddy too....
i would like to have that back in one way or another, but plese not with that 7s falling asleep and the bad defense he had.
I got quite good with him and everyone tended to underestimate you (they thought every Freddy ran NOED, so no need to use it, they would do bones anyway), but it was always hard to win once you got to a certain rank/level.
