Not every game is SWAT teams
Why do killers seem to act like every game they are in is against the sweatiest, tournament level swf on earth? What if there was an indication when people were indeed playing together, then you can unclench your butt cheeks in the other games and everybody can be less salty all the time.

Because matchmaking is screwy at times, and going against people way higher rank often feels like they're swat teams.
It can get pretty bad. Especially if encountered multiple times.
Higher rank survivors often aren't interested in if they're stomping a low skill killer or not, so a person just starting to play, or are trying a new killer are jokes to them.
People have asked for an SWF indicator for years, and many have argued against it.
I doubt the devs will do much or anything to help killers in that sort of bind.
22 -
Because if I lose I need something to blame because I am incapable of realizing I made mistakes and needed to play better.
9 -
Heh. Perhaps not for you, but all of mine are... I don't remember the last time I didn't face at least a 3+ SWF.
3 -
Or you shouldn't be pitted against those of a much higher rank than you.
I feel for the low ranks right now, but I've been stuck in red ranks. There is so much variability in skill that rank seems almost useless.
Overall I think ranking up needs to be harder, much harder.
9 -
The past 2 resets before this one i got into red rank killer because its what i do when I'm bored and i play without sounds and watch netflix during the game and maybe one out of a dozen games i have played against a swf that was even any good and that they all got out. faced plenty of SWF that raged at me after the game because it seems thats what people do to make themselves feel better. but i can probably count on 1 hand how many times ive played absolute swat teams that violated me and in all those games i learned from them and just got better for it.
0 -
I agree totally that red rank skill varies immensely. I like the idea of the MMR they tried but it was terribly implemented. On paper it sounded fine but it just didnt work the way it was intended to.
0 -
Rank needs to be thrown out all together and let devotion be the thing that matchmaking depends on, once you're above devotion 2 you should be pitted against anyone because you've played the game long enough to have a understanding of how it works and it's just refining skill at that point.
4 -
No thanks. I don't plan on making a huge effort to get better, but I'll continue to play casually, and collect stuff.
2 -
Swf does not equal swat team. Nor does sw equal good. Killer only gets boring for me becuase I dont see as many sweats as I want.
2 -
Cause when you get to the top of the competition i.e red ranks you see such a miraculous coordination from survs that one may think they are using the force powers of Bastilla from Swkotor.
1 -
Well if you don't make an effort to get better you have no right to complain about the people who beat you, play the game as you please by all means I'm not trying to insult or be rude that's just me being real.
2 -
Because as a killer in red ranks i see such a miraculous coordination from survs that i start to wonder which one of them is Bastilla from Swkotor using her force powers.
1 -
Nah, I have every right to complain. I want to stick to casual skilled survivors and killers. At least then, I can pretend I was in a fair match, win or lose.
The massive skill gap your idea will eventually create for me will eventually make the game basically unplayable.
3 -
Exactly this, just because people like running for their lives with some buddies doesnt mean they are trying their balls off to win. Just seems a lot of the more vocal killers on here have been hurt by a swat team and apply that anger to anybody that plays in a group. I wont deny playing with people gives a level of info you otherwise wouldnt have but like with the people i play with 2/4 dont know how to look behind them to see if the killer is even still chasing them and it has cost us many a hook state and we just poke fun at the person running around thinking they were being chased.
0 -
Have you tried to play at different times?
In my region you are more likely to face good players if you play very very early in the morning and with crossplay turned off.
2 -
Ive been the killer in red ranks, and its always with a killer with 1 perk and no addons because I put my BP into my survs, and yes I've encountered some insane coordination that played me like a fiddle but its not literally every game like people on here act. I just take the beating and move on with my life haha. full meta nurses are as little fun to play against as swf teams practicing for the next tournament.
0 -
Perhaps, but I play pretty much ONLY all Red Rank SWF and they do tend to be damn good.
2 -
Congrats then you are not as competitive as other people then, and i can admire that to an extent but with that attitude i did not stay in red ranks for long due to another issue of pips.
A lot also depends on the killer, I climbed rank 1 just recently with bugged legion, cant say i enjoyed it. But I guess its my fault that i played killer that is bugged and cant use his power properly.
1 -
Well there's always the mobile training mode with the bots
0 -
Which offers abysmal progress and mobile controls are absolutely garbage, and most importantly, isn't the console version thay i have the most investment in which is basically superior in every way aside from mobile turning lost players into bots. I mean the switch version is even portable.
If they added "training" to consoles, and didn't make sure it was an even worse grind, I wouldn't be mad.
1 -
thats the thing though im very competetive. not raging over a loss doesnt make you not competetive. calm down for half a second and you'll realize not every game is against a swat team, hence the point of the post. they exist but they are few and far between. If every SWF feels like a swat team then maybe you shouldnt be as high rank as you think you should be.
0 -
I've advocated for training mode since mobile got it , I'm quite pissed the free mobile version has more to offer than a version I've spent so much money on
3 -
Being competitive and raging is connected but i rarely rage when i play. Frustration absolutely, that always comes with a loss especially when you understand that you made a mistake. But sometimes scenarios are that you can't win. Someone brought the key and now they all escape. What could you have done, nothing. This why you see people saying as if everyone was swf.
You must assume worst, in order to mentally prepare for it. Also i like to assume everyone is swf cause i know i will give it my best shot. And i would like to balance team work around swf and red ranks. Maybe i should not be as high as i am but then again exploiting their desire to save that one person never failed as a tactic.
1 -
Same. I wish bots/training, and what boils down to single player would come along, but I don't see it happening until the pvp has died off.
Until then, I would rather just have a competent match making system that goes out of it's way to make sure the trial isn't an absolute slaughter for killer, or survivors.
I just want to play with as much interaction possible so I can get blood points, and make progress so I can be as prepared to git gud as the people that tell me to git gud.
If skills are about the same, wins, losses, 4k, 4 escape, nothing really matters. I'm a pretty laid back killer, and as a survivor, I revel in the tension when I don't get absolutely obliterated.
If I feel like I had fun, I would even give up blood points and get sacrificed, or let people escape, or hold back in general. Especially if I find myself overpowering the other side.
So in essence, I don't want to be in between a rock and a hard place with a system that would force me to get better, or end up unable to enjoy myself.
1 -
if someone brought a key and they all escaped that means they did 5 gens though, thats almost a win in itself. Also the random people usually ditch their team.
0 -
Pretty sure its 4
0 -
Doesn't matter. Not every game is:
- Camping
- Tunneling
- NOED
- Mori
Either.
The point is not how rare it is, the fact that it is even possible shows that there is a problem. You don't balance things by making them more rare. Would it be balanced if they made a killer addon that had a 1% chance to show up in the bloodweb that gave them double movement speed, made all survivors exposed, and made gens take twice as long? It would only show up in 1 out of every 100 games. Should be balanced in your eyes then right?
2 -
Nope it's five , that hatch doesn't spawn unless all gens are done with 4 people alive and from there it spawns with 3 survivors 1 gen left, 2 survivors 2 gens left, 1 survivor 3+ gens
1 -
I have tried early morning killer which was the sweetest I've had because of the keys and the gens being done quickly but other than that the chases were easy.
Also turning off crossplay doesnt seem good for me because I'm xbox and usually xbox players with crossplay off are trash, but I'll try it.
0 -
That sounds like fun. I get alot of swf but they just arent good. It makes killer boring but I'm gonna keep trying.
0 -
Oh damn well i guess i should not be in red ranks afterall)))
0 -
I've seen so many players who despite being red rank have no basic skills, Terrible pathing, pre throw. All the dumb stuff these are usually swf too. I see alot of 4 globes.
2 -
Even the sweatiest of SWFs get outplayed by truly good killers. Without requiring busted things. example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5uUUAz7m1U. Otz is objectively good at killer in this game, and even hamstrung himself in the match and came out on top. doesn't require a 1 in 100 bloodweb addon/offering. Believe it or not this game is balanced so that someone deserving of their R1 killer to stand a chance against 4 R! SWFs. Survs just seem to get mad when all 4 dont get out and killers likewise if they dont get a 4k. That being said i do think killers should be able to change killer in the pregame.
0 -
yeah haha 2 of the people i play with panic drop pallets all the time. I run any means necessary to pick them back up lol.
0 -
Killers can win in 2 minutes. Just pressure gens 5head yo.
0 -
Yeah as a solo survivor, I'm always amused by the killer mains screaming about how broken and unfair the game is for them. It's honestly pretty miserable as a solo survivor. I'm trying to get some last challenges done and see how far I can go with this Tome before I'm done with the game for good. It's just been completely destroyed for me as a solo having to play most games where I'm literally the only person actually playing and not just doing challenges. I'll miss this game but they completely destroyed it for me. What can ya do?
2 -
accept everyone in this game is mad and have fun haha. i have some great vids of my solo queue teams hiding in bushes the whole game, or dropping hook states because people think urban evasion makes them move fast and crossing the map with it haha.
1 -
Make sure you take care of them. Teach them to get better. Dont let the baby survs learn by themselves:)
1 -
haha I try. We have a good time pointing at each other until a mori makes our 20min queue for nothing lol. not an issue anymore though
0 -
"Why do killers seem to act like every game they are in is against the sweatiest, tournament level swf on earth?"
Because most of the friendly have fun and take it easy killers get trounced 4 out of 5 games because of SWF's. And a good number of the games that aren't swat teams the survivors BM in the post game chat so hard it makes you cringe. It doesn't happen every day, but often enough that if you try to take it easy that you quickly get fed up with it. It makes a lot of those friendly killer players decide to quit or swap to survivor.
7 -
That would piss me off doing late night swfs. It would be a mori and I couldnt dodge because of the long queues. No more of these types of killers.
0 -
Hardly any games, are we going against swat teams, but it's easy to make excuses.
0 -
They don't need to be a SWAT team, they just need to be capable of speech.
Basic communication is a gamechanger.
If you're all solo players, and nobody has Kindred, it's entirely possible that somebody will get hooked and either nobody comes to save him (losing the game immediately) or everybody comes to save him, wasting a massive amount of time and giving the killer free pressure.
If there's even a two man SWF, you can say "Hey Jim, Kate's with me, go save Feng".
0 -
You have no idea of knowing if that's true or not, you're just assuming it's true because you've played against people who know what to do because they've played the game for so long & so they seem coordinated. I'm in red ranks & I've had a LOT of matches where killers accuse survivors at the end of being in a SWF and they're almost always wrong.
1 -
I don't accuse people of anything. It isn't my business. But I do know how to recognize a SWF by how they react to things they cannot know. I play Spooky Myers mostly (Scratched Mirror+Boyfriend's Memo) and my current challenge is to see if I can win games with him consistently on BIG maps rather than the small indoor ones. It means I don't always put in a map offering and just take on what comes. The benefit of playing Spooky Myers is you can see a LOT of the Survivors at all times via the Wall Hack.
This allows you to see when they change direction, drop what they are doing, and are clearly getting info on you from the people at your feet or on the hook. Are there great Solo Players in the Red Ranks? Sure, without a doubt. They are the minority though. I play a lot of Solo myself, but Purple is as far as I've gotten. My point is the majority of the Red Rank teams I play are SWF and they are loaded to bear and extremely coordinated. One of the reasons I play Spooky so much (besides just liking the challenge) is that it kicks the SWF in the groin. The less information they have, the less information they can share. No terror radius means they can't sonar you about the map and relay. No aura to read means no OoO benefit to call out position, and so on. I'm more effective as Spooky against a SWF than I am a bunch of Solos. It is ironic but true. Solos don't rely on that constant stream of info from the SWF's 5th Perk (Comms). They play Old School and it is harder to set them up. :)
1 -
Sounds like you forget that spine chill exists. Spooky Myers is powerless against spine chill players.
0 -
You think so huh? I hit Rank-1 playing only Myers (a mix and match of Spooky and Maniac). Right now I'm Rank-2 playing pretty much ONLY Spooky Myers (and sometimes other Killers for Rifts). Spine Chill is a pain, but powerless? Naw.
1 -
Well if that’s the case then I have one thing to say, Git Gud
0 -
I promise you that most people you're playing against are not in a SWF 4 stack. People have spine chill, they have premonition, they have the ability to read whether or not people are in chases by looking at the UI, they can also just use their eyes/ears and prior experience playing against killers. What you think is getting information from other people is pretty frequently just people having played the game enough to know to rotate their camera or to look down at the UI and see that someone is lit up as in a chase.
0 -
I never said they couldn't do any of those things. I merely pointed out, being in the Red Ranks, fighting in LOTS of matches every day, that most of the teams I fight are at least (3) Person SWF with a Solo. They make no bones about it, so why are you trying so hard to pretend it isn't so? I can tell when I'm fighting Solos and when I'm fighting a SWF. Most people can; I just have the added benefit of being able to see people reacting to information they can't know when I'm far away.
I'm not sure why you decided to plant your flag on this hill, or why. It is your hobby horse and you can ride it all you want. SWF Survivor Teams are extremely common in the Red Ranks. They are far more common than Solo. It is just a fact. Darwinism plays apart. The 5th Perk (Comms) is a huge advantage over Solos. It is only commonsense that those who have access to it are going to get there in greater numbers. Are you trying to argue otherwise? That would be silly.
