So bots could be coming after all?
King just uploaded a video to YouTube that reveals a lot of source code indicating bot actions for both killer and survivor. I really hope this proves to be true because even with the penalty in place, dc's still happen far too often. Not to mention it would be awesome to be able to activate bots in custom matches.
The bots used in the mobile game are pretty damn good, and if it's anything like that, then this will be a welcome addition to the main game.

Having a training ground of some sort with bots (or just custom game) would be awesome imo. As a newer player, I was pretty overwhelmed with everything the game throws at you (the choices for killers, survivors, the deluge of perks, add-ons and offerings, etc). Having a place to just experiment would be beneficial.

That source code was known for some weeks or even month now.
but nothing has been confirmed yet. They might internally test it though or use the source code for other purposes (maybe in QA)

They should have done this before the mori annihilation lmfao

I really hope so it's way overdue and sad that it's not already been done in the paid version of the game

Yes it would be a huge health boost for the game. Potato teammate DCs don't worry a bot will take his place and ensure you can still win. Just got a new killer with no idea how to use his power and you're afraid of getting wrecked. Don't worry there's bots you can train with. And those two improvements can be huge for game health. Especially new players.

Yeah, mobile training has just 2 or 3 flaws. The grind is so much worse, the controls, and sometimes the bot survivors tap unhook instead of hold unhook. Most of that isn't their fault.
Well, they are a little dumb when they got to use stairs, too, but it's fine. An occasional potato bot is ok with me.
Personally, I don't see it coming when a pvp focus just works so well for them. When pvp dies down, they might include bots sort of like ft13th
Replacing DCs would be great.

I can already see the " Bot OP " posts lmao

so not much different than the occasional team mate you get sometimes, except they'll keep the killers' attention for longer than the first hook. If the killer knows it's abot though, they'll ignore it before tunneling somebody they consider may be more problematic out of the game. Just expect that to happen a lot with some people, especially once people have figured the bots' behavior out.

Basically. Bad teammates should be part of training, yeah? Lol

They honestly should be actually, and the devs have had enough years to figure that need out.
1 -
I wish that was true. Bots would very likely mean having real training grounds insted of custom mode that you can only use if you bother someone else to go in it with you.
2 -
He actually talks about that. There was some code that was revealed months ago, but nothing came of it. This latest leak was just made recently.

Being able to practice as the Killer would be really beneficial. Being expected to compete while you're practicing makes for a pretty lousy experience not just for yourself, but for the survivors as well.

I really hope they implement this even if its a custom game with bots that leads to no BP rewards. I could at least get my fix when there is naught but toxic trash playing.

I still remember how those crap devs behind Friday the 13th game acted like it was impossible to do bots, especially one for the killer. I hope they do add bots to DBD to show them it can be done hehe.
1 -
Adding bots would just be pandering at this point though.
why can’t we leave it how it is now, the devs stated before they didn’t want to add bots in the main game and you are pressuring/forcing them to add them.

Yeah, the ft13th bots aren't perfect, but they certainly can get the job done.
Wish they made a Jason bot, though. Last I remember playing Jason was the only way to play with Bots.

I wouldn't get your hopes up to high for Bots. Good Bots for a game with this many variables would be so costly and time consuming to make that I don't think they could make back what they spend on it. More to the point, if you think things are buggy now with graphical updates and minor fixes, imagine the bugs in trying to get a working Bot going.
Lastly, they can't integrate Bots into the existing Code. It would requires a BRAND new code base from the ground up.

They said in the q&a that they're remaking the tutorial to be more complex so that's probably all it is.
0 -
If they program bot survivors to repair gens and then run to another gen and repair it, it'll be better than most survivors LOL
2 -
I fully expect that this code is for the very crude bots found in the tutorial.
So this doesn't mean much unless we can find out if this is more advanced code then whats found/used in the tutorial.

They have bots in the tutorials, and DBD Mobile has solid bots doing pretty much everything survivors would need to do.
If the code from mobile could get applied, things would be fine.
But like I said earlier, there's another reason to not get your hopes up over bots.
The pvp scene is too strong right now. Bots would likely only come after the game loses enough players, and it needs a second wind.
2 -
The Bots in the Tutorial don't have any variables. They aren't bots so much as preset targets. They always do the SAME thing. :)

But it wouldn't be crazy to use them as a base for stronger bots, imo.

Beep boop. Bot has escaped through the exit gate.
Commence rapid crouch.exe
Beep boop. Bot has completed [Killer pallet stun] objective.
Commence rapid flashlight click.
Beep boop. Nothing happened.
Commence rapid crouch.exe anyway.

Good news for survivors having an anti tunneling/camping bot killer to go against. You just choose difficulty first then team up with others who choosed the same mode. Then entity summons random killer and game is on.
Same for killers tired of t-bagging and clicking SWFs they just choose how good the team of bot survivors will be and then play without having to wait in lobby.
Then close chat and this game is forever without toxicity.

I appreciate it very much that you called out both sides!

You mean to tell me there aren't bots yet?????!?!

The tutorial for DBD was always weak, and stepping into this game now as a newer player can cause a lot of anxiety. The sheer amount of killers, survivors, and perks to be had can be overwhelming, and the matchmaking certainly doesn't help matters since you're most likely guaranteed to be teamed with or against someone far more experienced than yourself.
If there can be a more advanced tutorial that allows you to test out the core mechanics of the game, then that could certainly go a long way into helping a newer player. Because at the very least all games should teach players the basics.

Being able to fire up a game against bots would certainly be a great way to cleanse the palate after a very toxic match!
