Let survivors stay in game after dying

Edit: just for clarification: this is pretty much supposed to be a better spectation mode with some minor way of being active and maybe gain a handful of BP. And I have not thought about how SWF could abuse it..

Other games have implemented this in some form already: Survivors that got killed respawn/stay in the match and can still participate but in another way

There are different options of course:

  • Ghosts: They stay the way they looked when alive, but as a ghost. Either for others to see or not. That way movement and animations could be reused, question is what they would be able to do. Normal gen repair/healing/hook rescuing wouldn’t make much sense
  • Rats/Crows or something else: others could probably see those. New animations and way more work has to be put into this, but it could end up very interesting and fun!

the main reason is to make fast deaths not worth it: getting tunneled out or suiciding on hook won’t get you out of the match. You could still participate and gain BP, help your team some way. Leaving would count as DC.

Maybe the survs alive need to perform some ritual/seance to get them back in the new form!

It would need much work in balancing and probably animations etc. it shouldn’t be too rewarding for the survs individually or as team but it should make killers think twice about tunneling people fast out.

games that kinda implemented something similar:

  • Friday the 13th: there was a way for only one counselor to get back into the game
  • Among Us: Dead crewmates are ghosts and still need to finish their tasks for the crewmates to end their task objectives
  • Last Year: I think you were trapped somewhere and needed to be rescued by your teammates to be completely back into the game
  • In Silence: You respawn as a Rat, just watched few mins of gameplay and don’t know how that game even worked tbh
  • probably many more
