Genuine question: Am I doing something wrong?
As a survivor main, I've recently come to notice not matter what I do, about 90% of the time I am the first down and first hooked. I'll sneak, I'll hide, I'll stick with others and run away when the killer comes but none of it matters in the end because I'm always the killers first target. I should put it out there I'm hearing impaired and have trouble hearing the audio cues like everyone else so I play more cautiously but damn, I sometimes feel like the game hates me to the point I spawn 10 feet from the killer. I would chalk it up to my disability and bad luck but it's so constant to the point it's gotten annoying. Is there any thing I can do to prevent being the first down? Any advice you guys can give me? yes, I turn up the volume. Yes, I can hear the music getting more intense when the killer is close. No, I don't immediately run like an idiot and leave scratch marks. I try to hide and get found anyways. Just... getting flustered that's all. Doesn't help when I get tunneled to death even after using DS. Killers can be relentlessly annoying.

Well the teammate mentor in me says try out spinechill, but the killer opposition in me says don't try out spine chill. Mixed messages, i know.

Try playing killer and you'll probably get better at playing survivor. Idk tbh I keep getting tunneled lol even without ds everything is trash idk why the killers feel like they have to tunnel you out of the game. Im never toxic either. Seems like we both have problems.

Hard to say, I get found a lot first but I also run around like an idiot straightaway. Your hearing problems could play into it, they should add the visual cue that mobile has as an option, but accessibility seems pretty low in their priorities, sadly :/
Edit: with problems hearing the terror radius both stake out and diversion work kinda as a visual clue

If you are having trouble hearing the terror radius then perks like spine chill, preminition or perks that activate by being in a terror radius like stake out or pebble can add some visual que's to the terror radius.
Other then that i would advice against sneaking unless you know where the killer is. My best advise would be getting windows of oppertunity if you have Kate. It will help you to always know where a pallet or window is so you know where to go if you get spotted. One of the best solo survivor perks imo.
Other then that Perks that help you keep tab on where the killer is also are pretty good. Alert being probably one of the better ones. Kindred can also be a godsent as you see where the killer goes after a hook and you can see by your teammates behavior if they are being chased or not which also let's you detirmine where the killer is
All in all my biggest suggestion would be to not try to be sneaky at the start of the game. It's when survivors are at their strongest and if you hide and get spotted it usually means a hit for the killer. At the start of the match first find 2-3 good loops that are relativily close and then hop on a gen knowing where to run if the killer comes
"No, I don't immediately run like an idiot and leave scratch marks."
This quote in perticular seems to be your problem. If you stand still and crouch the killer moves towards you at 4.6 (4.4 for some) meters per second. If you run in the opposite direction he moves towards you at 0.6 (0.4 for some) meters per second (survivors run at 4 m/s)
So unless you are sure you can hide from the killer or there are no loops nearby running away from the killer is usually better. especially after you get hit you want to spend all of the speedboost you get running in a straight line away from the killer. Make it a chore to get to you
Despite how it looks sometimes, this is more of a cat and mouse game rather then a stealth game. Stealth has a place in the game but you really want to focus on lasting longer in chase first and being able to remain unseen second

I feel your pain. I swear spawns are more broken than usual. I've had a few games tonight where I literally take a single step forward and the killer is having a staring contest with me. As for the tunneling, well, that I'd love to know myself. Seems it's on the rise and I don't understand why anymore. At this point, I've just come to accept it.

I have days like this too and I did a lot when I first started playing. It doesn't bother me now because most survivors are bad at the game, so I know I will actually be able to keep the killer busy if I'm found. I had a game today where three of us were on a gen and one person was AFK and I was still the one he chased. I'm almost always chased when I'm with another person. Killers constantly leave chase with an injured person to chase me when I'm fully healed. I have a lot of killers leave my teammates slugged just to chase me and immediately hook me. You're not alone. There are definitely times when no matter what you do, it's always you.
When you first spawn in, maybe actively stay away from gens? Try to figure out who the killer is first, and where you're going to go if and when you get chased. Plan at least two moves ahead of time. I always like to do a totem before I touch a gen just because I hate NOED. I do get found a lot when I'm cleansing dull totems though.

When you hide and get found, and most of the time you will get found, you tell the killer basically: hey im not confident in my chase ability, im the weak link, you have an easy time with me.
Hiding has its uses, but when you try to hide every time, you are predictable and you make it easier for the killer.

Tbh I am not great as chases yet - but something that has helped me recently is planning to use that speed boost upon getting hit effectively. I essentially accept I will be hit - but how will I use this speed boost?
Sometimes it is indeed better just to run like hell to the other side of the map, rather than hang around and hide. If the killer has been notified of activity in your area for whatever reason, they will usually search around until they find something. Don't be there!
2 perks that may give you more confidence to try this style, would be lightweight and sprint burst.
As for your impairment, I guess it depends how significant it is? I use heartbeats quite a lot, if it's difficult hearing them, then yes it's going to be harder to know when you should bail.
