Killers can't switch Pre Match, Survivors shouldn't be able to either.

I understand this tbh. Personally, I remain unaffected by last second switches nothing really bothers me as a killer anymore but I wouldn't mind it. Even if it just locked the survivors from changing stuff 25~ seconds before the round but let killers continue to adjust, that would be nice.

It doesn't bother me much, but when you see people changing to look exactly the same as someone else, or quickly switching in the key.
It's just interesting that one side is blocked from doing something the other can do freely.

killers should be able to; given they disabled the matchmaker reasons that it was tied to.

The reason the killer lock is still in place is because for them to turn it off and on we have to go through an update, while the MMR system can just be turned on and off freely. So they don't see the reason going through the work in disabling it just to re-enable it, and would rather killers get used to it.
I believe survivors should be locked too though, people's reasons they shouldn't is that they're just "skins", but imo they aren't cause you will tend to have one or more survivors with better items, perks, etc than your others. And it doesn't always annoy me but last second switching can, especially with them knowing a key change is coming soon, get very annoying.

they could have turned the killer lock off at any of the patches this past week. the reason they won't is because they keep saying they are about to turn MMR back on at a moments notice but honestly I don't think the MMR was there I think they want it there and have ideas but I don't think it will work here nor was there before. also the devs see the survivors as skins so they don't care what you change to, atleast they've encrypted the file that was being used to know who you were playing against.

They could've, yes, but as I said they don't see the point in disabling it just to re-enable it when they finish working on the MMR. So they want to leave it implemented so that people get used to it, cause it's going to be how the game is anyways.
MMR definitely was there, cause when they said it was activated I actually got teams of survivors who gave me a challenge instead of dealing with some potato that can't tell I'm a crouched Pig and not a crouched Survivor until too late.
The MMR system will (or should) give you two different MMR percentages. One for how well you play against a certain killer as survivor, and one for how well you play as that killer. So when you play survivor, it wouldn't matter which survivor you picked, you'd still go against the same skill level pig's, huntresses, Nurses, ECT. And as Killer you'd have a different percentage for each killer you play that reflects your skill level with said killer. Hope that helps you understand why it would, or how it would (more so should if they do it right) work. This way the killer lock mechanic would work how they want, and survivors switching wouldn't do anything more than it already does.

it should but what they put out before didn't do anything it just seemed like random matching with whom ever was at hand and ready. nothing at all. this game will not discern from someone disconnecting and someone that died on hook because they didn't want to face the killer or just wanted out of the match for one reason or the other. it will artifically inflate the win rate and loss rate because of disconnections. there is way too much grey area that is not even being talked about, much less any real information about how it really works so they can claim it's working as intended even through it didn't. I know why they are doing it, they are trying to think it is coming back soon but meh i think they are a very long way from getting code in to do what they really want.
And you say it was there, but even though I played in that time I played many more hours than they said were needed for it to be accurate and I would get red rank survivors with my rank 16 trapper and brown ranked killers to my ranks 8 survivor and the point those brown ranked players barely knew how to play the game. almost every match was that way, how can a rank 16 trapper continually get red ranks only? and a rank 8 be put in a lobby with a killer that still is wet behind the ears? I had a few that were skill comparable but those were far and few between. the amount of people posting about it, talking on stream and my own experience showed it was purely random match making which could invariably put you and a few others in skill comparable groups even though it's not matching anything.

I think you killing a survivor too fast would still not raise your MMR by much if anything since it's already detrimental to just slaughter the whole team on their first hook, so people who suicide on first hook wouldn't really change anything except their own MMR against that killer, which is abusing the MMR system, but at what cost? Cause when you go against that killer but with a low MMR and then stomp them and boost your MMR way back up. The system wouldn't be perfect, but it would be better than what we have now.
Also I didn't have any issue when they said MMR was implemented, it didn't seem like just random matches either. I take breaks from this game a lot so rank reset will send me back to yellow ranks, which I was at rank 17 when they first implemented MMR. I main my Pig, P3 LV 50, And each match I got was mostly filled with red ranks, occasionally one or two other colored ranks. Yet they all seemed competent and put up an actual match. However when I switched to my Legion who I was just first starting to play or even Oni or Hillbilly who I never play, I was getting all sorts of mixed color rankings, and those survivors no matter yellow or red ranking were not very skilled or even close to the ones I was going against on my Pig. But after playing Legion for a bit and getting the hang of them, I was getting better and better survivors, eventually getting those pretty much full red lobbies with competent survivors like I was getting on my Pig. So MMR was working fine for me, and I actually wish it was still implemented because that was the most enjoyable DBD was in awhile.

And what exactly would the benefit of this be? Stop survivors from swapping what they look like? Punishing survivors because it's "unfair" that killers have to deal with it?

Given how long its been and will be though; they should.
If it is going to be a while, it is only right. Could do it with literally any of the updates we had; plenty of chances to....

It stops bully squads from last second swapping to be clones of another as well as stop survivors from bringing a surprise key without giving the killer time to adjust.

Big deal, not like survivors ever had time to adjust to an incoming mori. There are far bigger concerns in this game which need to be adressed than something as small as this.

I'm not saying they shouldn't disable it for now and turn it back on when they release the MMR again. I'm just saying that is their reasoning for it, but I can understand if they want people to get used to it since it'll be that way anyway.

it would stop survivors from having a "blendette" with the flash light and swapping to it at 7 seconds before match. it'd stop people from making the killer think ok it'll be a nice match and then suddenly it's 4 exact looking kates, one with a key, another with a map, and two tool boxes. and crap like that. before there was an unencrypted file that said who the killer was and survivors exploited that by changing perks out to ones like calm spirit because it's the doc, so killers took to doing the same. they'd start the match making as doc and switch to plague or something else that calm spirit has no sway etc. this is the problem that people see and not in small amounts. oh yea those 4 man squads of exactly the same looking character all would be DS 3 and UB 3 along with two other perks.
and killers have no time to adjust to an offering of midwitch, haddonfield, the farm/corn maps etc. personally I think that the minute that it goes into the lobby it should go RIGHT INTO loading (like in kyf) and no one has a chance once they ready up to change what they will do. set up before ready up just like the killer, everyone is fine, no one knows the other. Leave the SWF lobby the same let them make preps, the killers can deal with the SWFs or they can't, doesn't matter because neither side has a chance to see the other, no one can prep for what they see till they are on the battlefield.

Look though it rarely happens I did have to face survivor who would become clones in the past far before killer lock was a thing. It is a tactic used to troll the killer as it is very hard to keep track of several clones who swarm. If they locked in the character at 10 seconds it would at least give potential adjustment time for the killer. Items, add ons and perks can still be altered as desired.
I am not asking for once the join lobby is clicked for them to be stuck for 60 seconds this purely prevents last moment cloning. Yes it is a nerf, but only affects last second swappers.
One reason I am bias for it is change is a game I still remember during an chinese new year event an entire squad turned into Feng clones wearing the new year cosmetics last second and had a 3 man escape on the farm as they would follow and swarm during hooks or midchase if possible for them leading to a miserable experience.
I am very much aware this change will likely never make it ingame but that doesn't mean it can't be discussed.

The killer can still use a mori even if he's already in a lobby, so quick switching to an item should be allowed too.
For me, the toxic Key switch is just an invitation to get tunneled when I play killer.

The Mori argument no longer holds any water since it is more or less just a visual offering. Locking people in the lobby from making any changes their character makes sense.

Both killers and survivors should have their characters and builds locked once they enter a lobby. Survivors should not be able to see each other before the match unless it's a generic thumbnail of the character, but not showing what they have equipped (this would prevent survivors from lobby dodging until they are with a group that they want). The killer should be able to see the survivors in the lobby, as they do now, so they know what they are wearing to accurately hunt them, to counter SWFs (who are talking about what they have anyway), and for flavor.

Mamy matches now i'vw seen in last few seconds sutcivors awitching to all toons with perks and add ons.

I think there's two things going on here, the locking survivors into a match when searching for a lobby - which I don't personally have a problem with as I don't think locking them in would serve any purpose at all, as they are all just skins.
And the last second switching, which is what I think more people are concerned with tbh.
Survivors are just skins, there's no getting away from that. And the killer technically has the same freedom as the survivor in the lobby - you can still change perks, offerings, add ons etc exactly the same as the survivor can, the only thing you can't change is the power that you're using in game, that's prelocked.
Last second switching to an item is something else and should be an entirely separate topic.

A simple solution would be an item-lock at 30 seconds, problem solved. There´s no legit reason to make Killer players endure this kind of trolling that is a last second switch to a map, 2 medkits and a key (map cuz I hate them as a Trapper player, they´re insane vs him).

How is this fair for us killera that thw survivors are swapping to their most powerful survivors they have in the last few seconds?

How can you say that's their most powerful survivor - it's just a cosmetic, for all you know they could have the same perks on each character, plus they (as can killers) change perks in the lobby. That's why survivors are just skins, there's no difference between a Nea and a Meg for example.

You're right Mandy, I think what people are trying to say along with myself; isn't that changing survivors is a problem, it's more the fact that players have pre set loadouts for survivors on different ones such as flashlights or maps or keys, things like that. and with the ability to switch skins. that come with a a whole new loadout of perks and items.
Yes the killer can do the same thing but not at the same speed. A survivor has to hit 2 buttons, one to bring up the menu and one to select the survivor. and that takes very little time to do so. It's timed so the killer doesn't have the time that's need to say, counter with light burn for flashlights or Frankins for keys and items. Survivors know this and some take advantage of it. Situations like sitting on the survivor menu ready to hit a button at the last possible second and a killer has no ability to counter that.

I'd rather the killer gets 15 additional seconds to review the lobby if a survivor does a last second switch. (realistically within the last 5 seconds).
Picture a survivor switches over to a key, all survivors get locked in, and the killer gets a prompt with 15 seconds counting to stay or leave lobby.

You can still tunnel mori people. It just takes a bit more time.
I'm fine to lock characters IF there is a possibility to spend BP where you want (Survivor AND killer). This is the only problem I have with it right now. That you can't do anything after readying up when you are blocked to switch characters.

Just make it so equipped items are removed when you switch a survivor, so by default they always have no item upon switching.
