What would happen if SWF was removed for a month?
I personally believe the game would absolutely implode and crumble to dust by the time is up. I have a pretty decent amount of friends who wouldn't (and don't) play it without inviting a couple peeps in and queueing up to get destroyed, how much does everyone else consider DbD a party game?
Last we got numbers, some half of survivors are in one kind of SWF or another.
It'd be a damn interesting to watch play out, at least.

If they did any sort of experiment with swf they'd do it for a few days, but yeah if they took it for a month no one would play anymore and the game would die.

Yeah it seems so but there is nothing wrong with wanting an easy game hence their existence. Not everyone wants to be frustrated with a difficult game.

The game is basically being balanced around SWF now anyways; and trying to bring in more information buffs to solo queue survivors. Statistically; survivors in SWF are only performing marginally better than solo's right now so things are getting closer and closer on that front with each few updates tbh.
Most of the SWF related problems people have; are because they got bullied super hard- but that is almost always a failing of matchmaker, the busted ranking system, and certain perks like OoO being able to basically give the perk to all 4 survivors because of comms- not the overall SWF itself.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but things have been ever so slowly getting better.

No one is making any threats, we are simply stating facts. If you wanna start an us vs them conversation then start another thread.
The killer needs 4 survivors, so it’s simple logic. Whether you like it or not survivors are the biggest share of the player base, and half of them play with friends.
By the way, I play mostly solo.

Solo queue is absolutely awful. Removing SWF would definitely kill the game.

You see i did add to the convo because you quoted me thus creating a convo. With that being now said. My fact adds to the convo that weather or not if people like swf or not, its here to stay because its just that. A fact.

And if by “crutches” you mean an intended feature by the developers which is the sole reason this game is the sucess it is today, then yes, this game would die without it.

The SWF paradox:
- only 15% of the playerbase is SWF (no need to balance around it)
- the game would crumble without SWF (no one would play without their friends)
What is it? Can't be both.

They don't need to remove anything. What needs to happens is that Solo Que and Team Que need to be separated. People will likely play in both, Team when they can coordinate with friends, and Solo when they can't. Additional objectives and perhaps an extra Perk could be unlocked for the Killer versus Teams. The Solo Que won't show any identifying info on Survivors until AFTER the match to prevent Comms from being setup on the fly.
Balancing the SWF with objectives and bonuses for the Killers who fight them is better than trying to balance Solo and SWF at the same time using Perks. The reason this current approach is flawed because anything that slightly slows down a SWF hits Solo 10x as hard. In the end, distinct Ques is the only solution. We do NOT need to get rid of SWF, but we do need them balanced separately from Solo.

Kill rates would sky rocket to such a high number they would be releasing a massive nerf to everyone in the span of a week (with Killers like Leatherface, Clown and Doctor getting rollbacked on their reworks, followed by more nerfs).

May I ask as to the data in which you are referring to, to come to the point of 15%?
Please also remember that people Solo while waiting for their friends to get on, and sometimes Solo after their friends get off.
People play a game where you can team up because if they ever wanted to team up, they could.

A few hours ago someone tried to convince me with a 2 years old graph, that only 15% of the survivors are playing SWF.
I know the real amount is bigger. But it's funny how both statements are made, when only one can be true.

Thats actually a lie, I remember the stats they gave, Solos made around 50-55% of the players in all 3 platforms and SWF with 2 were around 30% or so, 3 and 4 people SWF would be the remaining %, while the stats are rather old, they were from May 2019 its the only accurate data we have.
So SWFs players are roughly ~45% of the player base, if you get rid of it you may be slashing half your players because some Killer mains get smashed by the SWATs from time to time.

I would enjoy not having foolishness in my matches. As solo I get paired with a lot of swf and it usually results in them attempting to troll the killer, would be nice to have regular teams that don't make teabagging the 1st objective.
Yes we would lose some people, but I don't think the game would die unless swf is more frequent than the community let's on.

My best guess is that most of the survivor base would stop playing. If that happened, it would just show the widespread entitlement.

The player base would significantly decrease, as many people only play because they enjoy playing with friends. Though they can be strong at times, it would be a bad decision for the overall health of the game.

Yeah. Some killers just want to chase and ignore the gens. Some survivors want the 60-second DS to stay so they can be super aggressive in their gen pushing. We all said that when Ruin got nerfed and Hillbilly got nerfed, we were gonna quit. But we didn't, because that would have been entitlement.

If someone wants to quit the game because Iron Maiden is their favoritest perk and they refuse to play without it, but it got nerfed and that was the line for them, then i'm not gonna force them to stay.

Personally for me, it doesn't matter since Im a solo player. I find SWF a crutch anyways.
In general, I think the game would die down big time, reviews would go overwhelmingly negative, and people would not come back until it was re implemented. Seems a lot of the SWF players consider this a 'party' game and need friends to help them win.

So, Killer Mains are always claiming that they stopped or will stop playing and that this is the reason for long queue times, but if Survivors would stop playing because they cannot play with their friends anymore, it is entitlement? Ok.

It won't be as big but it'll be fine. There are people who only play SWF but the vast majority of players in this game do not SWF.

The graph showed the composition of games, not the number of SOLO Q.
It was something like 55% Solo Q, 30% 2 Man, 10% 3-Man and 5% 4-Man.
Let's do some quick math. If there are 400 Survivor Players, that means that:
- 55 x 4 = 220 are Solo Q under the first bracket
- 30 x 2 are 2-man SWF under the 2nd, 60 are Solo Q
- 10 x 3 are 3-man SWF, 10 are Solo Q
- 5 x 4 = 20 are 4-Man Squads
So that's:
- Solo Q: 220 + 60 + 10
- 2-Man: 60
- 3-Man: 30
- 4-Man: 20
Meaning 290 / 400 are Solo Q, or 72.5%.

All we know is BHVR refuses to release stats more than they have to, and they also refuse to remove SWF from the game.

No, the graph showed the raw % of groups playing trials, Solo being around 55%, they even say it. "This is the overall average, between all ranks and platforms, of how many other Survivors players are queuing up with. More than half of the total Survivors are playing solo" thats the 50-55% I talked about, so it means the ~45% are SWFs either pairs, trios or full SWF. There is no weird math to it, of every 100 players 55 were Solo so the rest have to be SWFs.

All the killers that complain about swf the most would spend the entire time using the worst builds and playstyles possible, because the community is completely self-defeating.

To me the whole charm of the game is playing with friends, I would have never started playing if it wasn't for that, I don't care about the characters, graphics, or anything else, me and my friends literally downloaded the game because we could play together (We also play fall guys, the forest, smash bros, we pretty much play together all the time) just to have a good time together, I never play a game solo. If the game didn't have SWF I'm pretty sure the fanbase will drop by a large amount since a lot of people play it with their friends.

The player base would drop in numbers for the month and then spike after again.
Oh and the number of killers complaining on the forums would remain unchanged.

Only if you deny it to others. There are killers that don´t want to play vs swf, and everytime it is suggested to give them that option, a lot of swf player revolt because they fear to be dodged.
So, one side should be playing like they want to, but the other side may not. I am not a native speaker, is there an english word for that? (real question)
